2 days had passed since i woke up. I realised that the world had been overrun by those creatures. Luckily i found shelter at a nearby apartment but i knew that staying in the city would be a death sentence.
I remembered. All of my friends, my family, my cared ones. Are they alive? I cried, thinking if they are alive, if they had been killed by those creatures, if they had killed themselves rather than being killed by the unknown. I couldnt comprehend the situation, i just wanted to forget about all of it.
I wiped off my tears and slapped myself, trying to wake up myself. I grabbed my worn jacket and grabbed my small backpack with some supplies i found and a map.
I was planning on leaving the city and go to a house we had out of the city we went to on vacation. It was in the forest and i dont think that anyone would find it. I estimated it would be a weeks worth of walking to get there but it would be better than staying in the apartments, my sanity slowly draining and my body slowly rotting, starting from my mind first.
I got up, wore my old shoes and got up, getting mentally prepared to leave. I walked down the stairs, slowly, not to make any noise. I left the apartment complex and i started walking on the abandoned roads. Even if it was an apocalypse, i apparently had woken up several weeks later. The year was 2027, i didnt think that in only a year this many things could happen.
I walked around the city, trying to follow the route from my map, until i found a small convenience store. I entered and i grabbed some snacks and several bottles of water. I looked around and found a screwdriver on the ground. I grabbed it and put it inside my pocket.
After the little detour i left and kept going my original route. After a bit i saw the time and realized that the sun would be going down soon. I ran to a nearby apartment complex and started going around, until i found an unnecessarily clean door, i knocked the door and i heard a squeal coming from inside.
I realized that a person might be in there and i asked "Is there anyone inside?" After a bit i heard some footsteps coming to my door and a sound, a bit over a whisper answer to me "W-Who is it" I answered "Im John, John Watford. Could you let me in, i need a place to stay for the night" She replied "B-But how do i know you a-aren't somebody that goes around stealing people"
I answered to her worry "P-Please, i need it for tonight. I will leave tomorrow" She replied "F-Fine" Thus opening the front door.
I got inside and thanked her. "Thank you so much. But, i still dont know your name" She replied "I-Im Matilda Smith" She was a petite girl, i would guess she was around 5'4, she has black long straight hair and she was a bit cute.
I asked her "Have you been living here for long" And she replied "Not really, i just found this place to stay and i was forced to after the outbreak" I answered "I see" She asked me "What are you doing here? And why are you trying to find a place to stay?" I answered "Im trying to get to my vacation house that is away from the city but its a weeks walk away, so i needed to find a place to stay. I think the house will be far away to not be around any creatures"
She gets excited once i tell her this and immediately grabs my hand "T-Take me with you. I want to go as well" I get surprised by her gesture but two pairs of hands are better than one. I answer "Sure, but you will have to help me walk there" She answered "Y-Yeah, sure. I dont mind"
There was a moment of silence and the sun was slowly setting. For today i found a place to sleep and a new partner. But i didnt know about how tomorrow would end up.
