[Leonard]
The unfamiliar sound of an alarm suddenly reverberated in the room, announcing the end of my sleepless night, and the beginning of a new day. I got up from the bed, happy that my misery has ended for the time being, and ready to start the day with my new title- CEO of Litt's int'l.
Speaking of being the new CEO, it is high time I dealt with my personal assistant, whoever she may be. I may not have seen her but I already had a bad feeling about her and for that she has to go.
I retrieved the strange lady's phone from under the pillow as it rang the alarm and turned it off, recalling just how I had tried without success to break through the phone's security the previous night. I then took mine from the bedside table, and dialed Louis' number. He answered on the second ring.
"My personal assistant, send me her email address." I said once he answered, and disconnected it right after. Exchanging pleasantries with each other was not something we did often or at all.
I headed for the bathroom right after to tend to my hair, while waiting for the email address to be sent to me. The various hair products I used for my hair stood according to how they were used. I poured out a handful of shampoo and conditioner to massage my hair with it, then I rinsed it off a few minutes later and added some amount of hair oil to moisturize it. If Idris was around, he would be on one of his jokes by now.
I came out of the bathroom with a towel tied around my waist once I was sure Louis had sent the email address.
I was right after all, I noted once I double-clicked on the buttons and the laptop came alive and on the screen was an unread message from Louis.
I copied the email address, and began to compose a message immediately.
"Prepare a list of every Litt's int'l transaction from the past five years." I pressed the send button, and let out a chuckle when I imagined the look that will be on her face once she processed the content of the message. I had opted against adding my name since unlike her email address, mine included every of my name.
There was no way she could get it done within such a short period of time, and I'll have her fired for incompetence. I thought with a smile
Completely pleased with myself, I headed back to the bathroom to wash up. It was a quick bath, partly driven by my new title, and mostly by the slightest chance of locating the strange lady.
All through the night, I thought of every possible way to locate her but they were all futile. Her phone was heavy on security, and the only way to gain access was to completely erase the phone, and that would only make the phone useless to me.
Swiftly, I got dressed in the suit I bought specially for today, and with my briefcase in one hand, I headed out of my bedroom, ready to go to the office.
"Good morning, boss." My men chorused once I was sighted and I nodded in response.
I walked to the car, looking at the premises for any sign of abnormality. The car was controlled open once I got close enough, and just as I made to step in, I saw it.
"Why are the flowers so unkempt?" I asked with a frown.
"The gardener reported to be sick, boss." Jeff, who doubleserved as a security officer and my personal driver replied with a slight bow.
"Well that's on him. I need every part of my mansion properly tended at all times. He is to resume duty tomorrow or forget about his employment here." I ordered, stepping into the car.
"Boss, are we waiting for M…?" Jeff made to ask from the driver seat on which he now sat but I interrupted him, cutting him off.
"No, Idris will meet us at the office. You drive."
***********
I stayed put even after the car came to a stop at the garage, waiting for either Jeff or the other man who sat beside him at the front to get the door. From where I sat, I saw my men alight from the car which always went ahead of mine, and strolled towards the spot where mine was parked.
The other man whose name I had given up trying to remember got the door just as the car which followed behind mine pulled over and the rest of my men alighted from it.
I stepped out of the car, and headed straight for the building while my men trailed behind. Only two of them went with me into the building while the others remained outside, heavily on guard.
I walked down the hallway, heading for the elevator while responding to greetings which were directed at me at intervals with a slight nod.
The elevator door slid open with a pleasant chime, announcing my arrival at the first floor, where my new office was located.
The employees were in the lobby, every last one of them or so I thought. Some of the ladies hastily adjusted themselves once they noticed my presence, and a disarray of greetings followed. While some of them looked down in respect, others stepped aside quickly, paving an unobstructed pathway for me. I looked on disinterestedly, wondering why they were not on their desks right now and working even though it was obvious they had all come to welcome me.
I moved past them, and walked farther into the floor, towards the spot where I believed my office was located while my men trailed after me. I had been given a tour round the office through a map. All thanks to my very busy schedule.
As I walked through the lobby I noticed also the ladies, most of whom were beautiful and hot. I could already see myself sexually involved with most of them in the near future. I was very much convinced that having any of them anytime I wished wouldn't be difficult, seeing how seductively they looked at me.
For a brief moment, I hoped my personal assistant was just as gorgeous until I remembered my intention to fire her, and I suddenly did not want her to be gorgeous. That way, firing her will be much easier.
I shook my head slightly as if to shake off the thought just as the sound of approaching footsteps was heard. Whoever it was, was hurrying down.
I continued my walk down the hallway, ignoring the approaching footsteps which were now louder. I should be brainstorming on how to transform this company but here I was, thinking about these bitches.
Speaking of bitches, shouldn't my personal assistant be here already to 'assist' me? There's no changing my mind about firing her.
"Which of you is my secretary?" I asked, turning to face my employees. I just could not wait to fire her at the moment.
While most of them murmured incoherently, a few of them pointed behind me.
I turned swiftly towards the direction they pointed to, angry, and ready to say the words but stopped as I took in the face of my secretary.
It was the strange lady from the hotel !
At first, I drew in a deep breath in readiness to face her, then I thought of the other employees, and made a quick decision.
I watched with indifference as she cat-walked towards my direction, with a smile so bright that for a moment I thought she was happy to see me. But her smile was quickly replaced with shock once recognition hit her. Her cat-walks slowed and came to a stop a few feet before me while her eyes widened, as she stared coldly at me.
She got hold of herself, and resumed her walk, with every trace of shock or discomfort gone. Everything happened so quickly that I thought I had imagined her looking coldly at me. She must have noticed my indifference, and decided to return the same vibe
She's a tough one, I decided, and I'm going to enjoy every bit of it, I added with a smirk.
