[ Chapter III (3): "A REANIMATED GOBLIN'S LOYALTY" ]

[ CACKLE ]

A Reanimated Goblin, bodies filled to the brim with knives, daggers, and a sword couldn't help but cackle to itself in amusement.

Looking at what's in front of it.

The Reanimated Goblin could see its former kin, or what remains of them, running away wounded and likely wouldn't live long.

As social animals that rely on group activity, someone that strays too far from a group is destined for death— so is the fate of Goblins that doesn't have any one to rely on, we'll other than themselves.

So the Reanimated let them go, and instead focus on replenishing the lost energy they had spent. By eating organic that is, in this case Goblin carcasses.

[ CACKLE ]

Kneeling down, the Reanimated Goblin didn't mind that it is eating what is supposedly its own kin. In human terminology this is classified as cannibalism, the act of eating one's own species.

But to Goblins who are preimative, such concept doesn't exist, yet.

What they see is free protein, free fats, free food; and to them that shouldn't be wasted on, and so they eat, having still retained that same mindset.

[ CACKLE ]

Grabbing a leg, it chewed on it. Both the flesh, and also the bones, it didn't leave anything to waste.

Not full yet, the Reanimated grabbed another body part, then another, then another, then another, being completely consuming everything leaving only certain undesirable parts.

The Reanimated noticed changed on itself, the more it ate, the more it gained intelligence albeit slight.

Not just that, the more it ate the carcass of the Goblin, the more its wounded body healed, at the point that the weapons that we're sticking to plopped to the side at some point.

In which it ignored.

Metal, rock, or even wood to them doesn't give fats, thus not preferable for consumption. Do not be confused, they can still eat it using their sharp teeth, they just choose not to because there's no reason for it, other than wanting a stomach ache.

[ CACKLE ]

Cackling to itself, the Reanimated looked around it and noticed its other two kin— at the other Reanimated Goblins that also shares the same predicament as it does:

Submission to a higher being, someone who whispers to them a command in which they'll do without questions.

No recollection or memory of what happened before.

No fear of anything they should have.

Death not having any claim on them anymore.

Extreme case of hunger no matter how much they ate. Yet not.

And lastly of it all, arguably the most important factor that they all share. Why don't they hate one another?

Usually to Goblins who have deep resentment with one another due to their Greed, something of which they are born with, they had no choice but to have it— and they could either embrace it, or supress it before being stabbed by another Goblin in the back.

Which explains why they hate one another so much. It's a cycle of hatred and destruction all over with no end in sight, either that or death. And they like living, thank you very much.

[ CACKLE ]

Looking at one another, and cackling to themselves. I.e gritting their teeth so hard at one another that it makes a loud sound, bone crickling as they communicate, weirdly enough, they understand one another without words being spoken. Even if they tried speaking, they couldn't, so this is their alternative.

They, the Reanimated communicated to one another, to have a competition of some sorts. To eat as fast as they could, without interfering with one another— and a voice to their head confirmed it; [ "Eat, heal yourselves." ]

Which pushed them farther and farther, until finally. They ate all the Goblin carcasses in sight— exactly thirteen Goblins, they ate. And they aren't full yet.

Simultaneously they looked at one another, cackling before ultimately looking at the car sized Black Board which is mostly uneaten, which to them is a gold mine of energy.

And without speaking to one another, they all ate away at it, in rapid motion. And in minutes, in astonishing speed, the Giant Boar that would have normally taken a group of Goblins a day to eat, disappeared and eaten by three Reanimated Goblin in less than five minutes.

And funnily out of it all, they aren't full. But they aren't still. Stuck in a weird limbo of wanting to eat, but also not wanting to eat. The Reanimated Goblins became flabbergasted as they looked at one another.

Then finally around them, they spot monsters of different varieties; a Snake with three heads, Cats the size of a bike, and blobs of Slimes peeking around the corner anticipatingly amongst other things.

Ready to fight, they cackled, but stopped once they heard a voice inside their head; [ "Stop." ]

[ "Don't fight any monster." ]

[ "Grab me all the weapons you see." ]

[ "And get up here." ]

The strings of command echoed in their minds. They don't know what language is being spoken, but weirdly enough they can understand it. As something inside them draws and becomes attracted to it, wanting to do the commanded task as time passes.

And following the command they did.

[ CACKLE ]

Gathering all the swords, daggers, knives, and metal bar they could find, and other items that they consider as a weapon. They moved out. Though not known to them where they should go, they still understand where.

Looking in front of them, they could see an apartment, thin compared to the rest of the neighbouring buildings but still one of the highest. Though thin, and in the color of green, it reaches up to three floors— with the topmost having a person in it waving to them.

[ "Hey, Goblins it's m-" ]

[ "Oh shit...!" ]

The said figure is waving down at them, but they couldn't exactly see who it was. As the window closed without prior notice seconds later, and a huge blue feathered Bird crashed into the now closed window.

[ "J-just get inside, please!" ]

The said blue feathered Bird ignored them, weirdly enough, and the voice though unseen who it belongs too sounded similar to the one who tried waving at them from the third floor window.

Looking at one another whose hands are full, they shrugged and ultimately decided to get a move on. [ CACKLE ] Wanting to do the task they have been assigned by the voice.
