Crack!!
Some zigzag line of energy suddenly slashed across the wall, sending shards of rocks flying everywhere. It started cracking the hard rocks as if they were just eggs.
Jake's eyes widened at the sight of it. He found himself taking some step backwards, his hands raised slightly as if to shield himself from the sudden onslaught. He was hell shock now!
Meanwhile, his mysterious saviour just stood frozen, her expression were unreadable as usual. Which was a bit weird. Jake, on the other hand; was just a picture of panic itself. He was literally behaving like a kid as his eyes started darting between the crack walls and the girl.
"Whoa! Like how the heck did you do that?" Jake posed, his mouth growing wide open as he flicked his eyes fixed on the crack particles raining down from the rock like a stream.
It kept on falling, till a big hole burst open from the front and a gust of wind rushed into the tunnel, whipping the duo hair into a frenzy style. Jake squinted, raising his hand to shield his eyes from the dust and debris. But it wasn't working as it was so much.
It was almost like how a egg looks, when cracked. At first, Jake thought it was a bomb blast that exploded it, because the devices does look like one. Plus they were beeping, right?
But it wasn't....
Another gust of wind seems to howled through the tunnel again so much that it was literally threatening to rip Jake's clothes apart from his body. But the girls own was just so okay. Maybe that was why she wore a hidjap attire.
Jake's balloon grown seems to have loosen up already, flapping wildly and revealing his boxers that was now strained against the force of the wind. Which the girl clearly saw but she didn't flinched at it or turned around. She just stood there watching the whole drama…. and….and smiling?
So she does smile?
Damn! Must i really get humiliated every freaking time I come across girls, huh?
Jake stumbled again, his arms wrapping around himself as if to hold his clothes in place. He was obviously trying to hide his nakedness now though. But damn it. It wasn't working too.
For a moment, she simply just stared, as if reassessing her opinion of him. She was actually wondering if the guy she was rescuing was really an adult or one of those crazy lunatic around the camps.
She shook her head in dismay, turning back to the crack walls behind her. She was obviously fed-up with Jake awkwardness. But anyways, that actually relieved jake shevring body. At least she wasn't staring at his expose boxers anymore.
"We are going to be jumping down there." she said, pointing downwards the tunnel, turning to look at Jake again who was literally shaking like a chicken that was about to get slaughtered. He had managed to tightened up his grown somehow.
But he was visibly trembling like hell now. His arms wrapped around against himself as if to hold himself together like an ice ball. And again, his gaze darted nervously between the girl and the gaping hole in the tunnel floor. Damn! It was freaking scary!
"I'm sure you've done crazy stuff like this before, haven't you?" she asked, her tone dripping with skepticism. But jake was lost right now.
Yeah, to be fair, he had done some crazy stuff lately ever since he arrived here…..like: getting himself soaked with mud, running like a madman in the forest and admitting that he was in a freaking world with a system. But damn, jumping down out of a tunnel to the ground without knowing how long the distance could be, was just the craziest thing ever.
"Hey!"
"Oh! Nah, I haven't done ummm…..stuff like this before" Jake admitted, blinking his eyes sheepishly.
"Oh my gosh!" she exhaled, feeling so disappointed again. Not like Jake had ever done anything pleasing to her though. What she has been getting from him ever since she came to rescue him was–Disappointment.
He wasn't smart at all.
Jake was such a scary cat but she on the other hand was just the opposite. As a matter of fact, she seemed utterly unfazed by the dizzying height in her front. Which Jake wondered about.
Maybe she does this as a routine or something. Because, how can you freaking jump down from here? That's crazy!
Jake shifted uncomfortably, feeling like an insect under a microscope as she put on the stares again. He felt like running away.
Damn! There she goes again.
Like why the hell should he do that? What if he falls down and gets his legs broken or his head smashed on something. Huh?
It just the craziest thing, ever!
Her eyes gleamed with a serious intensity, even though her face was obscured by the hijab that she wore. She was still staring at him.
But why did she put on that hidjap anyway? Who would that in an era like this? Huh?
'Anyways, that's on a lighter note. But damn! The stares. It's awkward. And It's so weird honestly'
Jake's eyes locked on her face too. But she wasn't looking this time, she deepened her palms on her mask face, probably feeling like giving up on him now. Hope she does anyway.
But before he could look away, her gaze caught his again, holding it in a piercing stare. He didn't see hers coming. It was as if a silent challenge was sparking between them.
"So, you wanna start the staring game again?" she asked, her eyebrows shooting up in a fierce arc. "Like a hawk, huh?"
Jake's eyes quickly darted away, his gaze skittering towards the chasm below. He just couldn't do it….as the distance was freaking scary. He swallowed hard, his Adam's apple bobbing in his throat up and down as he glanced at it.
"Honestly, I'm not jumping down there," he finally muster up courage to speak, his voice was firm but obviously laced with a hint of desperation.
"Like I mean…. I can barely jump over a 7ft height, let alone...let alone this!" He stammered, gesturing wildly at the chasm, his eyes were literally screaming–fear.
The girl's expression suddenly turned enigmatic at him, her eyebrows flushing with a hint of amusement as a slight chuckle escape her lips.
"Alright then, I guess I have to do it the hard way," she said, her voice dripping with a subtle threat. But she damn mean it.
Jake's eyes snapped back to hers immediately as he heard her. His heart racing with a sudden surge of alarm. He took a step back, and another, his hands rising in a defensive gesture as she walked closer.
"Hey, stop right there!" Jake stammered, his eyes wide with alarm as he found himself stumbling backward, his feet scraping against the ground.
He turned around, looking at his back that was very dark now since she just snapped off the fire light from her hands. It was hell dark now.
"Alright, big man, don't make this harder than it has to be, okay?" Her whisper was like a cold breeze in his ear and Jake's skin seems to crawled as he felt her breath on the back of his neck.
He tried to turn around, but damn! His feet seemed rooted to the spot already.
She pulled out her knife, glitting it at the side of Jakes chick. She now looked like a murder as the blade sparkled with a malevolent intent, as if it hungered for blood.
It was literally screaming death!
"Hey, stop, stop it...alright, fine! I'll jump, okay!" Jake yelped, his face totally pale with fear as he frantically grasped for handholds on the walls. His fingers scrabbled against the rough stone, searching for a grip that wasn't there.
"Good boy. Now jump!" Her voice was so cold as she stepped backward, revealing a gaping void that seemed to yawn open like a hungry mouth.
Jake's gaze plummeted down the tunnel, his eyes were literally watering at the sheer depth of it. He was damn sure that if he dare jumped from there, he might likely not survive it.
Like he could literally spot a large dense of forest over the ground. Plus his prison seems to have been situated on top of a mountain like he guessed.
What if he land on the trees? And get sturk? His stomach lurched with a wave of vertigo at the thought of that.
"This is a bad idea, honestly!" He muttered, swallowing hard, as he glanced once more at the deep forest, yarning for him.
"Okay, I must admit that this is crazy. Plus, you...know..." His voice got trailed off as his eyes met hers, and he seemed to read a warning in their depths as if saying, 'Shut the fuck up and jump!'
Her gaze was like a cold slap, silencing him. Jake took a deep breath again, his chest heaving with anxiety now, like never before. He bounced himself up and down on the balls of his feet, his movements was quite jerky and nervous, almost like a boxer preparing for a fight.
His eyes darted back to the void, railing before him. His mind racing with the very real possibility of death. He could die trying.
"Okay buddy, you gat this."
