Chapter 15 - The ancestors must be knocking their heads until smoke comes out.

Two grown men, each weighing over a hundred jin, were effortlessly pulled out of the water by two tiny paper figures no bigger than the palm of a hand.

Paperman No. 1 swung its little round hands, cupping Deng Ming's face, and smacked him several times with great force. As Deng Ming furrowed his brows, it stomped fiercely on his abdomen several times.

After Deng Ming spat out a few mouthfuls of water, he slowly opened his eyes, only to be greeted by a sight that blew his mind.

The Little Paperman standing on his belly raised its head, its tiny head devoid of any language or expression.

Yet, for some inexplicable reason, Deng Ming could feel the Little Paperman waiting haughtily for his gratitude.

Moved as if by a ghostly force, he sincerely said, "Thank you, Lord Paper, for saving my life!"

The Little Paperman instantly became delighted, leaped up, and dove back into the reservoir. Then it fetched the car, already submerged by the water, and pulled it out.

Paperman No. 2 used the same method to revive the brother-in-law.

The brother-in-law had his eyes wide open, and even seemed to forget to breathe, until he was gasping for air and then coughed violently.

"Brother… brother… brother-in-law…"

He clearly remembered they were completely trapped in the car with no way out; were they really saved by two Little Papermen?

Just then, a mass of dark fog charged directly at the two of them. Under normal circumstances, they wouldn't be able to see it.

But as they had narrowly escaped death and were marked with the scent of the Little Papermen, their eyes naturally could see these things now.

The dark fog rushed towards their faces, and Deng Ming had a vague understanding of why they couldn't escape from the car previously—it was most likely the doing of this thing.

"What in the world is that?!"

Although the brother-in-law was terrified, his eyes fell upon the Little Paperman that had just lifted the car out of the water.

Sure enough, as the dark fog neared him, it abruptly stopped its assault. The Little Paperman, using its hands and feet, twisted and squished the dark fog into a sphere.

By the looks of it, it was like one of those masters from TV shows, the only thing missing was the shouting of 'Hei, Ha' as a slogan.

Soon, the dark fog turned into a ping-pong ball-sized black orb, too large for the Little Paperman's hands to enclose, so it kicked with its short legs in a motion that appeared both comical and adorable.

The Little Paperman stepped forward, touched the center of Deng Ming and the brother-in-law's foreheads to dispel the Evil Qi they had acquired, and then vanished with the black orb.

The brother-in-law, limbs weak and floppy, took a good while before feeling his body's warmth gradually return.

"Brother-in-law, what was that thing just now, and that Little Paperman…"

With a "smack," Deng Ming slapped the brother-in-law on the head.

"Call him Lord Paper! Keep babbling nonsense, and I'll smack you, believe it or not!"

The brother-in-law hurriedly slapped his own mouth a few times. He was genuinely grateful to the Little Paperman that had just saved their lives; he hadn't meant any disrespect, it was just a slip of the tongue.

"Lord Paper, how come you saved us?"

Deng Ming remembered the young girl he had encountered at the service area, knowing for sure that it must have been her who sent them.

Unfortunately, he didn't know the young girl's identity, but that didn't stop him from planning to set up a longevity tablet for Yun Ran as soon as he returned. As a businessman, he was very much inclined to believe in these things.

"It must be because our ancestors have always been kind and accumulated virtue."

Otherwise, how could they have met such a noble person who even had Papermen with Divine Skills? Deng Ming's expression became even more devout.

Yun Ran was waiting for Little Paperman to return when she suddenly felt several golden specks of light surging directly into her body.

She was somewhat surprised: "To think there is Merit to be claimed!"

Ginsengfruit also received a share of the Merit, transforming it into energy, replenishing the emptiness it had previously depleted.

[The old ancestors of this family must be doing their utmost underground, knocking their heads until they're smoking, just to have them run into you! They must be a household that carries Merit.]

Little Paperman returned, offering up the black ball to Yun Ran like a treasure, raising its head in search of praise, looking incredibly adorable.

Yun Ran wasn't stingy, caressing each of the two Little Papermen as a reward, before taking the little black ball.

In the eyes of ordinary people, this was just an ordinary black ball, but in reality, this black ball contained something that was howling and screaming like ghosts and wolves, prone to affecting one's Qi Fortune.

Clearly, this was an Evil Spirit bred specifically to seek wealth and cause harm, and now that it had fallen into Yun Ran's hands, it was out of luck.

Yun Ran squeezed her hand, and the black ball shattered, along with the Evil Spirit inside it, disappearing without a trace.

At the same time, in a rural courtyard, a woman looking like a divine woman, her previously glowing complexion undergoing a drastic change, becoming pale and aging by twenty years instantaneously.

"Fairy, what's wrong with you!"

The woman's face turned fearful, and she quickly threw out the bank cards she had previously accepted.

She yelled at the middle-aged man in front of her: "You have doomed me, those Deng Family brothers have a master behind them!"

The middle-aged man was swiftly chased out of the courtyard by the old woman's family.

After storing Little Paperman properly, Yun Ran bought two ice pops by the roadside, planning to bring one back for Little Fatty as a thank you.

When she returned, it was just as the lecture was ending, and free time had begun.

Yun Ran handed an ice pop to Little Fatty: "Here, a treat for you."

Little Fatty looked at the cheap ice pop in front of him, hesitant to reach out; the ice pops he ate were never under a hundred, and he was afraid this one might not be clean and could give him a stomachache.

"I don't like to eat..."

"Then forget it!"

Seeing Yun Ran walk away without even a single urging word, Little Fatty felt somewhat guilty, thinking his behavior just now had embarrassed Yun Ran.

But thinking of Yun Ran's nature, who would make a scene out of nothing, he stopped in his tracks and did not dare to follow her, fearing he might get hit.

Yun Ran walked while enjoying her ice pop, taking pictures along the way, preparing the materials needed for the visit reflection, looking forward to lunchtime.

Finally, when lunchtime came around, the team leader teacher presented Yun Ran with a plate of rich and succulent braised prawns, clearly an item with extra money spent.

The morning's bowl filled with beef in the beef noodles, she accepted as her due, but now here was another offering, so Yun Ran put down her chopsticks, her gaze piercing as if it could see through one's heart.

"Teacher, do you have a favor to ask me?"

The team leader teacher felt slightly embarrassed but upon remembering how Yun Ran had saved his career, this bit of awkwardness seemed inconsequential.

"I saw you setting up a fortune-telling stall yesterday, are you doing it again today? Do you sell peace charms or the like?"

"I do, 500 each charm, do you want to buy? I'll give you a 10% discount."

"Deal, I'll take three!"

Without haggling, which satisfied Yun Ran: "Come to my stall later to pick them up."
