Chapter 1 - The Talk

On the empty country roads of Kelna, a young man, standing around six feet tall with tanned skin, a muscular build, short black hair, and matching eyes, walks towards town with his head in the clouds.

"Hana is coming back tonight for summer break...I wonder how I'm going to make the money for next semester," Jin thought out loud.

For the past five years, after the death of Hana's parent, Jin swore that we would take care of Hana and make sure she would get everything she would need.

"Uncle, I'm sorry, I don't know how much longer I can keep this promise," Jin sighed as he walked into town.n

"Good morning, Jin, why is your head in the clouds?" an old woman with short grey hair asked as she walked up to Jin

"Oh, sorry, Granny Seiko, Hana is coming back tonight. I was just thinking about what I should make her," Jin replied, putting on a fake smile.

"Little Hana is coming back, you should have told me earlier, I would have come over to make something," Granny Seiko replied with excitement.

"I can't have you do that, you already do so much, you and your husband."

"Nonsense, Jin, I told you I see you two as my own grandchildren. Don't ever feel bad about me helping you; it gives me something to do in my old age," Granny Seiko said with a laugh.

"Come on, I will help you make her favorite dishes before she gets home," Granny Seiko added, pulling Jins arm.

For the next hour, Granny Seiko and Jin went around town getting all the items to make some of Hanas' favorite food.

As they began walking back towards their house, Jin felt a change around him. Even though they lived in a small town, this change was extreme.

Quite...

Everything was quiet, no sound. No children playing, adults talking to each other, no wind, and no animals in the nearby forest. The market, which was so full of joy, was dead silent. Looking down at Granny Seiko, his worry began to grow when she was unmoved. Not like she stopped moving, but everything, even her hair, was still like a statue.

"Granny Seiko, are you okay?" Jin asked, placing a hand on her shoulder.

Giving her a small shake, Jin confirmed what he knew. He couldn't move her an inch.

Placing down his things, he looked around to try to figure out what was happening. The moment he turned around, he was met by something that was the last thing on his list.

Before him stood a dragon. A giant dragon at least 200 meters long with obsidian black scales, blood red eyes with a purple hint, and an aura that made him want to kneel to the beats.

"Young human, your world is destined for destruction in two months' time. As demons, orcs, wyverns, and fallen angels invade with the task of killing you all," the dragon spoke, yet its mouth remained unmoved.

"W-what?"

"Hmm...I should have expected this; you're in shock. Then allow me to show you," the dragon spoke as its eyes glowed.

As Jin stared into those glowing eyes, his surroundings changed. He was now floating in the air. Beneath him was the capital of Abilon, but unlike the kingdom, he knew this was engulfed in flames and filled with screams of terror. Within the kingdom were dozens of monsters of all breeds hunting down humans, killing them.

"W-wait...T... that's Hana's school...where is she, where is Hana!?" asked in worry at the dragon

"Don't worry, boy, this is not now. This is the future of this world," the dragon replied

"Why are you showing me this? What are you?" Jin asked, his mind filling with more questions

"I am oroboro...The Dragon King of the Abyss. I am showing you this because I don't wish for humanity to be killed like this. I want to give you a fair chance at survival."

"I-I have heard about you...my father used to tell me stories about you, but why are you telling me this?" Jin replied as his shock grew.

"Simple, I want you to become my son. Take the title of dragon prince alongside the power that comes with it. Build a safe haven for humans and help them fight against the monsters," Oroboro explained.

"Why...Why me?" Jin asked

"Human, I chose you at random."

"I see...how do I know I can believe you, though?"

"Let's say I'm lying, nothing happens. But if my words are true, can you afford not to believe them?" Oroboro replied

"...No...if you will give me the power to protect Hana from this, I will complete your task along the way," Jin replied

"Good, now you will only have two months to prepare, in that time you will be given three teachers, one in magic, another in weaponry, and the last one in managing a kingdom. All these skills are needed in you, giving humans a foothold," Oroboro explained as they arrived back at the town.

"I understand...But I do have one question...Why is this happening? Why is our world going to be destroyed in two months?" Jin asked

"Simple...when celestial beings get bored, the lower life forms become their toys of entertainment," Oroboro replied

"But focus, human. Once I resume time, you will gain the mark of my son alongside the power that comes with it. Everything will begin to make sense after my power merges with you. This will be the last time we speak for a while. The next time I meet you, you better have improved to a suitable level or face your own death," Oroboro said with glowing eyes that caused a cold sweat to run down Jins' back.
