Chapter 6 - Chapter 6

006 Kitagawa Umi

A few minutes later, Lin Moze had already entered the teaching building from the school playground.

Unlike the imagined situation where Kabane were densely clustered and crowded, the number of Kabane inside the building had clearly increased, but they were still scattered and wandering around.

In fact, many of the Kabane were locked inside classrooms, swaying and gathering at the door.

It's probably that some of the students and teachers who tried to escape from the Kabane had been infected, and after finally thinking they had reached a safe place, they ended up being overwhelmed in one fell swoop.

Lin Moze confirmed the number of Kabane and began clearing them floor by floor.

The narrow corridors didn't pose much difficulty for him. The enhanced agility from the Blacklight Virus allowed him to easily evade the zombies' attacks by using the walls and even the ceiling.

As he swiftly moved, he resembled a top-tier predator, weaving through the Kabane one by one.

His muscles seemed to have a mind of their own, subtly adjusting with every move he made, transforming into the most suitable structure for exerting force.

First floor, second floor, third floor...

After clearing the Kabane on the third floor one by one, just as he was about to grab the last Kabane left, his sharp senses suddenly noticed that this one seemed a bit different from the others.

At that exact moment, a panicked female voice suddenly rang out in front of him:

"Wait, wait a minute, don't be rash, I'm not a monster that eats people!"

Swish—

Lin Moze's hand, moving at high speed, stopped just about an inch away from the Kabane, creating a rush of wind.

In his surprised gaze, the Kabane's skin began to rapidly soften and dissolve, turning into a golden jelly-like substance in just a few seconds.

And under this substance was actually a girl with an alluring figure.

Her light golden hair was gradually dyed into an orange-red gradient at the tips, her eyes were a peachy-pink color, and despite the makeup on her face being somewhat smudged, it didn't affect the delicate features.

When the girl saw the hand stopping in front of her, her expression was noticeably nervous.

She cautiously stepped back, and upon seeing that Lin Moze didn't make any further moves, she sighed in relief and spoke:

"Um, my name is Kitagawa Umi, I'm a student from Saitama Prefectural High School on an exchange program to Tokyo. Are you originally a student at this school?"

Kitagawa Umi? Sounds like the heroine from a certain anime... too bad I didn't have time to catch up on that series.

Thinking this, Lin Moze calmly replied, "I'm Lin Moze, a second-year student at this school."

After their brief self-introductions, Lin Moze then focused on the golden substance attached to the girl's shoulder and asked:

"Is this something you got as a reward after activating your newbie pack?"

"Huh?"

Kitagawa Umi was stunned for a moment, then her eyes quickly sparkled with surprise.

"You can see the panel too? No, I should've expected it. You're definitely a Savior too!"

Seeing the girl's joyful expression, Lin Moze was somewhat puzzled: "Isn't it a bit too exciting to know that you're not the only Savior?"

"Mm, while saving the world sounds cool, if it's just you alone, the pressure can be a bit too much," Kitagawa Umi replied. "If the burden gets too heavy, even a magical girl might go dark."

"You sure know how to make comparisons..."

Lin Moze was about to say something more, but he saw more Kabane appear from around the corner of the hallway.

It seemed some Kabane from the fourth floor had been attracted by their conversation. Lin Moze turned and approached them while speaking to the girl behind him:

"This isn't a good place for chatting. Follow me to the rooftop; it's usually empty there. Maybe we'll find some survivors."

Upon hearing this, Kitagawa Umi quickly used the golden substance to wrap herself up again and reminded him:

"Be careful, these monsters are just like the zombies in the movies. If you get bitten, you'll get infected."

She was glad to have found a fellow survivor who also had a Savior panel. If Lin Moze got infected by the Kabane, Kitagawa Umi didn't even want to think about where she would go to cry.

But soon, she realized that her worry was unnecessary.

Earlier, she had just reached the third floor, relying on her special ability for camouflage, and hadn't been able to see Lin Moze's strength. But now, from her clearer vantage point, Lin Moze appeared as an emotionless battle machine, his figure darting swiftly, with punches cutting through the air, creating whistling winds.

The Kabane in front of him were like fragile pieces of paper, easily crushed upon contact.

Broken limbs and foul-smelling blood splattered everywhere, forming a shocking death zone.

Not only that, every Kabane he killed seemed to vanish into thin air, making the rapid cleanup even more impressive.

"Wow, that's incredible…"

Kitagawa Umi muttered under her breath.

Normally, scenes like this from a B-grade blood-splattering film would only leave an uncomfortable feeling. But now, the situation was different. With the apocalypse upon them, monsters and disasters began sweeping the Earth, and the once vibrant school had turned into a hell on Earth in just over an hour.

In this unfamiliar school, almost all of the teachers and classmates who came with her had been attacked by monsters, and the survivors were lost in the chaos.

If she hadn't been lucky enough to become a "Savior" and drawn an ability suitable for camouflage and survival, she would probably be one of those wobbling corpses by now.

In this situation, a weaker girl would have likely already broken down.

In fact, even Kitagawa Umi, who was more optimistic and resilient than the average girl, was nearing her breaking point.

Then Lin Moze appeared.

Not only was he a fellow survivor, but he was also a "companion" just like her, and his strength was unbelievable.

A sense of relief!

This was the most immediate feeling Kitagawa Umi had when she saw Lin Moze. Especially as she watched the monsters quickly perish in his hands, the feeling of reassurance grew stronger.

I can't keep thinking like this... my mind's going to get weird!

Shaking her head to clear the distracting thoughts, Kitagawa Umi quickly realized that she had fallen behind and hurried to catch up with Lin Moze.
