Chapter 5 - Chapter 5

Chapter 005 - Fusion Complete

As the scene in front of him rapidly changed, Lin Moze found himself back in the small storage room where the sports equipment was kept.

Everything around him appeared normal, with no Kabane monsters having broken in. The only sign of disturbance was a slight bend in the edge of the iron door, revealing a gap between it and the wall.

It seemed that after the disaster had erupted, someone had escaped into the equipment room. Upon realizing the door was locked, they attempted to break it open but failed.

At that moment, there was some noise coming from outside the door, as if something was gathering toward this location.

However, Lin Moze paid no attention to it and instead focused entirely on sensing the changes in his body.

His body was undergoing continuous transformation, with black-red tentacle-like structures writhing across his skin, and the once subtle muscle lines of his body rapidly becoming more defined.

Through the overhead view, he could feel every slight change in his muscles, bones, and tendons.

At the same time, his brain and nervous system were undergoing the assimilation and transformation of the virus.

If not for the "Superdimensional Consciousness" talent, these intense physiological changes would have caused him to lose consciousness. At that point, when he woke up, he would have become a pure pathogen with inherited memories and personality.

But his talent allowed him to surpass the ordinary biological concept and navigate through this difficult transformation.

As the fusion with the Black Light Virus continued, Lin Moze felt every cell in his body filled with overwhelming strength, and a sensation of liberation from all constraints surged through him.

He glanced at the Savior Panel again, and the information on it had changed:

[Name: Lin Moze]

[Occupation: None]

[Talent: Superdimensional Consciousness]

[Bloodline: None]

[Skills: None]

[Enhancement: Black Light Virus]

[Items: None]

[Strength: ★★☆]

[Remarks: The virus transformation grants you power beyond human limits, but this is only an appetizer. Go and devour, evolve, and reach the top of the apocalypse food chain!]

Looking at the changed content on the panel, Lin Moze finally revealed a sincere smile:

"Just an appetizer, huh?"

That may be true; even the protagonists in the second and third iterations of the game reached their peak by devouring massive amounts of zombies and monsters.

Compared to them, he was still quite raw.

But even so, dealing with the Kabane outside should be no problem.

With that thought, Lin Moze turned his gaze toward the door.

Through the small gap between the iron door and the wall, a few crimson eyes were glaring in from outside, accompanied by a chilling, guttural growl.

These were a few Kabane monsters attracted by the scent of human presence, eagerly eyeing the "prey" they had found.

Coincidentally, the prey they had set their sights on also very much wished to encounter them.

Boom—

The heavy metal door suddenly flew outward, slamming into the few Kabane at the door and sending them flying, their mindless howls echoing in the air.

Lin Moze quickly followed, grabbing a steel pipe he had disassembled from the equipment room and thrusting it into the chest of one of the downed Kabane.

At first, there was some resistance, but with a slight increase in force, the steel membrane near the Kabane's heart was pierced clean through.

The screeching monster quickly fell silent, and the Savior Panel updated with a new prompt:

[Hint: The Savior has completed the first kill of the monster. The Savior's panel's decomposition and transformation modules are now unlocked, and the exchange panel has been generated.]

With this prompt, Lin Moze immediately understood.

Now, as long as he wanted, he could use the Savior Panel to decompose the Kabane corpse at his feet into exchange points.

This was exactly like what the dimension merchant, the "Star Luck," had described.

But besides that, he could also use the Savior Panel to perform a process called "Transformation" on the monster's corpse.

The "Transformation" function could turn the monster's body into items, materials, or even some form of power enhancement, though it required the Savior to spend certain points.

Most importantly, "Transformation" had a success rate.

In other words, it depended on luck, and it was likely that many saviors would lose their spoils due to failed transformations in the future.

The two new functions could be operated with thought, and besides the Savior's own information, there was now an additional "Exchange" interface.

Lin Moze, filled with anticipation, checked the new options but was disappointed to find that the items in the exchange were mostly ordinary goods and materials.

The only exception was a category called "Special," which contained materials like "Hua Metal," "Crimson Sand Iron," "Kuinck Steel," and "Iceburst Stones," all of which had some sort of transcendent concept.

A little disappointed, Lin Moze closed the Savior Panel and silently muttered "Decompose."

Immediately, the Kabane's corpse at his feet turned into nothingness under the pull of mysterious forces.

Lin Moze glanced at the steel pipe in his hand, which had begun to deform after only piercing one Kabane's heart, and frowned before tossing it aside.

He looked around and saw that the other Kabane, which had been knocked down earlier, was already shakily getting back up. Moreover, more Kabane were gathering around him.

"Seriously, it's such a hassle not awakening those weapon modes directly," he muttered, taking a deep breath, glancing at his palm, and murmuring:

"Well, if that's the case, I guess I'll have to go with my instincts and cause some chaos."

Whoosh—

In the next moment, his figure flashed, and the rushing wind followed his movements as his pale hand reached out, grabbing a Kabane's head.

His fingers acted like hydraulic pincers, and with just a slight squeeze, the Kabane's skull cracked open, while his other hand tightened into a fist and delivered an unstoppable force to its chest.

With a sickening crunch, the Kabane's chest caved in, and its shattered bones protruded from its back.

Savior Panel, Decompose!

With a thought, the now-lifeless Kabane in his hand quickly disappeared, and even the blood that splattered vanished with it.

Lin Moze's swift and powerful movements were like an invisible starting gunshot.

The surrounding Kabane, now all in motion, howled hoarsely and began to move toward him.

But Lin Moze responded by taking a more aggressive approach.

Fists, palms, elbows, knees—sounds of flesh tearing and bones breaking filled the air.

His movements had no elegance, just the most brutal and bloody assault, like a tiger charging through a flock of sheep, smashing through everything in his path.

The tension brought by the apocalypse, the pressure of outstanding debts, and the confusion he had carried deep inside him ever since his crossing were all released in this pure violence, reaching their peak.
