Chapter 57 - 57

Finally—not a bronze box.

Dawei rubbed his hands together eagerly and popped open the Silver Hunter's Chest with a flourish.

[System Prompt: You have obtained — Camouflage Crossbow.]

He froze.

Then slowly, a wicked grin spread across his face.

[Camouflage Crossbow] — A-Rank Weapon (Crossbow-type)Attack +10Attack Speed +25%Attack Range +2Special Effect: Chance to pierce through targetNote: Requires Crossbow Proficiency. Without it, damage reduced by 40%.

"Nice!"

Dawei pumped a fist. It wasn't just the stats that made him giddy—it was what it represented. This wasn't a glorified stick with a +3. This was real high-tier gear.

Though technically marked for Hunters, it didn't matter. Most classes would suffer the 40% penalty without the proper weapon proficiency—but Dawei wasn't most players.

As a Weapon Master, he had universal proficiency. He could equip any weapon without penalties.

It was one of the subclass's more broken features, and now it was paying off beautifully.

"Let's see—bows are sniper rifles: high damage, long range, slow fire. Crossbows? Closer range, lower damage, but fast and versatile. So this thing's a pistol compared to the sniper rifle."

Perfect for a fast-acting rogue-type like him.

Then, a system prompt flashed:

[System Prompt: You have realized — Wind Speed Shooting!]Attack Speed +20%Hit Rate +10%Cooldown: 10 minutesCurrent Level: Basic. Can be upgraded.

Finally!

The skill taught by Candice—the beauty president of the Mercenary Guild—had unlocked.

Dawei's lips twitched.

"Wind Speed Shooting, huh? Not bad—but to be honest, my base stats already crush this bonus…"

The +20% attack speed was nice, but with his current gear and passive buffs, it barely registered. It didn't feel like the massive power spike he was expecting from a legendary-line skill.

Still, Dawei clenched his fists with conviction.

"No—don't be blinded by first impressions. I trust in beauty. I trust in justice. A woman who can issue legendary missions wouldn't hand out garbage-tier skills."

"It's just basic level for now. It'll get stronger—just like me."

He equipped the Camouflage Crossbow, and immediately his DPS dropped like a rock.

The dagger's passive buffs were gone. Artifact-grade bonuses—slashed. Now his Attack was only 58, and the crossbow's 25% attack speed boost brought him to just 2 attacks per second, half the output of his dagger.

"Oof. From a blender to a peashooter."

But he didn't panic. Dawei knew what he was doing.

His build was attribute-based. While most players relied on gear, Dawei invested in permanent growth—stacking attack points, each multiplied by whatever weapon he held.

"Low damage now? Fine. I'll grind mobs, stack kill value, and convert it to pure stat gain. When I need burst, I'll just swap back to the dagger and unleash hell."

It was the perfect two-mode build.

Crossbow Mode: Ranged clearing, skill grinding, mob management.

Dagger Mode: Boss fights, high-speed burst, elite deletion.

And Wind Speed Shooting? As long as it leveled up, it could bridge both styles—turning him into a monster no matter what weapon he used.

"Right now, all I need is to grind. Push floors. Trigger skill EXP. Unlock the advanced form of Wind Speed Shooting."

The corridor ahead was filled with level 30 mobs—armored, aggressive, and dumb as bricks.

He took a deep breath, adjusted his aim, and fired.

Tink—tink—tink!-18, -22, -17

"Ugh… weak."

Still, the monsters dropped. One by one. Kill value ticked upward. Slowly, but surely.

"All right. Let's go, Wind Speed. We're in this together."

Meanwhile, back at Alice Studio…

Sophie leaned back in her chair, arms folded, watching the tower stream silently.

Chen Ke'er tapped the screen. "His damage dropped like a rock."

"Swapped to a crossbow," someone muttered. "He gave up the artifact dagger?"

"Is he… trying to level Wind Speed Shooting?" Sophie narrowed her eyes.

Ke'er sighed. "Why would someone gimp themselves just to grind a low-tier skill?"

Sophie didn't answer right away.

Instead, she smiled faintly.

"Because he knows it's not a low-tier skill."

The other girls blinked.

"This is a legendary-line mission. If it starts small, that means it scales—probably all the way to Master or God-tier. He's investing now because he sees the long game."

And suddenly, the room went quiet.

Because in that moment, they realized—

Low-Key Brother was farming not for damage… but for evolution.
