UA Nursing
Point of view / Third person.
- And it will be okay, right?
It was the question that had been repeated the most by the annoying green-haired man.
- For the umpteenth time, Yes! He just needs to rest, since he pushed his body and his quirk to the limit.
It was the statement of the old woman who was already slightly annoyed by the brat's insistence.
- But but...
Midoriya whispered, but this time, instead of words, Recovery Girl raised her staff threateningly.
This action slightly scared the nervous boy who was currently sitting on a stretcher next to Hades with one of his arms in a cast.
....
- Well... Do you feel any extra pain, young man?
The young heroine asked, now concerned about her patient's current condition.
Or so it seemed.
- Yeah yeah, my legs still hurt, but my arm stopped hurting a while ago, thank you very much!
The green-haired man replied with slight enthusiasm at the end of his words to assure her of his most sincere gratitude for the heroine's cure.
For her part, Recovery girl smiled widely and slowly approached the boy.
- Very well... Now just stay still while I apply my quirk.
And with that said, his lips, against all biological logic, stretched about 30 centimeters until they reached the astonished boy's cheek.
....
But, it didn't end there, since, when he removed his lips, a green aura ran through Midoriya's entire body, and thanks to said aura, his legs, previously broken, had now healed.
- Wow...
The boy whispered, now intrigued by the powerful recovery quirk the old woman possesses, and, gathering courage along with a notebook that God knows where she had kept, he decided to ask.
- Excuse me... Could you tell me how your quirk works?
...
The older woman smiled widely at the brat's curiosity, and putting a hand to her chin, she decided to speak in simple terms.
- My quirk... It works thanks to the remaining stamina of the recipient, meaning that if the person I'm trying to heal has low stamina due to fatigue or other ailments from a battle, they'll end up dying.
....
The boy's eyes widened and he dropped the small pencil he had next to his notebook.
- Yes... I see.
The boy stated, swallowing heavily in understanding.
It was certainly an incredible quirk, but the consequences were more than great if the healing was used recklessly.
Now, he knew the real reason why she hadn't healed him right away and waited for him to regain his energy.
- And then...
The green-haired man tried to speak again, but something caught his attention and completely cut off his attempt at communication.
It was Hades, he had begun to move slightly as he muttered.
- Damn... My whole damn body hurts...
....
- Well well, I see that sleeping beauty has finally woken up haha.
Recovery girl mocked as she noticed the awakening of her main patient, since, compared to Midoriya, Hades was much more tired than the other boy.
- I can assume I'm still alive since I can see your horrible old mortal face.
Hades replied dryly, but a strong blow that fell directly on one of his legs, from the woman, made him wriggle like a simple worm.
- Damn! You old mortal, that hurts!
- I see you're strong enough now, boy.
The woman spoke, cutting the God's tantrum short.
And without further delay, once again, he stretched his lips and kissed one of Hades's cheeks.
...
Hades felt disgust and fear in equal parts, since now he found himself with his limbs blocked.
A cold shiver ran down her spine as she imagined everything they could do to her in such a deplorable state.
...
But...
Something felt strange, it was a feeling out of place for Hades.
Because, to his disbelief, he could see a green aura furiously running through every inch of her body.
This beautiful aura penetrated even the smallest of his cells, while he was healed in the process.
He could feel firsthand the dry movement of his bones as they fit into their original positions.
It was an extremely painful but instantaneous movement, to the point of believing that nothing had happened.
- What is this...?
Hades whispered, impressed by this greenish aura that had disappeared so quickly that he couldn't appreciate its full magnitude.
- Okay, you should both be healed now, so if you don't mind, get out of my infirmary, it's 11:40 at night!
The woman cheered as she brought the hourly understanding to the pair of patients who looked very calm.
And a single thought ran through both of their heads.
- "Is it... is it night already?!"
Both froze at the revelation, but the one who reacted the worst was the green-haired one, since he forgot to check his cell phone.
...
- Oh god... My mom must be worried.
Midoriya whispered as he checked his phone.
And to his surprise, he discovered ten missed calls from his mother.
The young man began to shake in panic. He had forgotten that he had left his phone on "Do Not Disturb," and his mother must be extremely worried.
- I don't need to go!
The boy cheered as he got off the stretcher he was sitting on.
And without further delay, he began to run towards the infirmary exit.
But the woman's voice stopped him in his tracks.
- Wait a minute, young man! Don't you think you two should go together? It's nighttime, and you need company.
The woman stated as she stared into the green-haired man's eyes.
And winking in support, he turned his gaze to Hades who was currently getting off the stretcher.
- Go with him! After all, the bridge you're sleeping on isn't far from his house.
The woman stated to Hades' annoyance, and rolling her eyes, she replied.
- "Why the hell should I, a God, accompany the grass head!?"
These were Hades' thoughts, as sadly, his second personality took control of his actions.
- Okay, I'll walk Midoriya home!
He claimed the second personality of Hades to his own horror.
- Wow... I thought you would completely refuse and I would have to use force to make you accept.
Recovery girl stated with pleasant surprise emanating from her voice.
Hades could only roll his eyes in a sign of tiredness, and, against his intentions, left the infirmary with the boy.
....
The infirmary was once again completely silent as the elderly woman reviewed some documents with Midoriya's photograph printed on them.
And dropping the papers, he smiled broadly.
- I wonder... When will they realize?
It was the small whisper of the old woman, expectant of all the drama that will unfold in the future.
.....
10 minutes later.
The couple walked through the cold streets of Musutafu.
The bustling city now slept in the soft shelter of Morpheus.
It was a wonderful sight.
The lights that illuminate the city give a magical and distinctive touch to this small town.
Very few people pass through the area, which makes silence prevail in the environment, interrupted only by the sweet sound of some insects.
The silence did not distinguish sides, and Hades and Midoriya's walk was clearly silent.
They both walked at a good pace, not too fast, not too slow.
It was a calm and serene environment to start a comfortable conversation and strengthen ties.
Midoriya said a thousand and one things to get his companion's attention.
But, Hades just wanted to get to his bridge and sleep.
He was upset about being accepted against his will.
And, a heavy sigh filled the air making Midoriya stop talking.
- Why can't you just keep quiet?
Hades asked in a tired tone, since he was currently so hungry he could eat grass.
But, he would never accept it.
- Well... I wanted to start a conversation... To pass the time faster... You know, get to know each other better and all that.
Midoriya spoke with slight nervousness in his voice, but Hades only raised an eyebrow in confusion.
- "Why the hell does this mortal want to get to know me better?"
Hades thought as he rolled his eyes at the broccoli head's incessant attempts.
- Well, my name is Hades and I live under a bridge... The end!
The God exclaimed with slight annoyance in his voice, since the mere fact of placing his divine name next to the life under a bridge did not leave a good taste in his mouth.
Midoriya, for his part, opened his eyes wide and looked at him expectantly for a few moments.
- I... I see, Hades-san, sorry for the questions.
...
- "So if you're done, fuck off."
But, unlike his words, the second personality took control once again, and Hades' harsh words did not leave his subconscious.
- It's okay Midoriya-san, on the other hand... could you tell me something about yourself?
The second personality asked as he placed a hand on the shocked boy's shoulder.
Still, he completely pushed away his shock, and a big, ear-to-ear grin appeared on his freckled face.
- Well, my name is Midoriya, and I like pork Tonkatsu, my favorite color is green, and my birthday is July 15th, also...
At that very moment, Hades regretted not having full control over his second personality, since, now, he had just heard the mortal's complete biography.
Hades wanted to leave, or at least silence him in the most abrupt way he knew how, but he was powerless against his new enemy.
The second personality.
....
10 minutes later.
Time passed, and every ounce of the boy's story was told without any shame.
Every detail of his life was given, and Hades' ears were now bleeding slightly.
But, regardless of that, he kept a silly smile on his face and nodded every so often.
It was a new method of torture from which Hades could not escape.
- "Someone stop him..."
10 minutes later.
The flood of information had finally stopped with a silly question from Midoriya.
- And you, Hades-san... Could you tell me something more about yourself?
But, unlike before, the God was finally able to regain control over himself, but he remained slightly thoughtful at such a question, since he knew very well about his past,
And turning his gaze forward, he began to appreciate the infinite darkness of the night.
The focus of his eyes slightly lost as he thought about what to reply.
Although he was against talking to this chatterbox, something inside his subconscious was screaming at him to talk.
It was a strange feeling that reminded him of the incident with the 0-point robot.
Hades inhaled deeply and began to speak as his traveling companion looked on.
- I... I don't remember my parents very well, I don't even know if I ever had any.
A small silence fell between his statement, and the green-haired boy shuddered slightly.
But still, Hades did not stop.
- I've lived on the streets for as long as I can remember, life there was hard and cold, but...
Hades exhaled all the air he had retained in his lungs in the form of a heavy sigh.
- But, I didn't lose hope of becoming a hero.
....
The silence fell directly on the boys' gait.
Hades continued to stare into the horizon as he walked toward an uncertain destination.
Instead, Midoriya looked at him with eyes full of compassion and slight regret for having asked him something so... out of place.
He felt a small tinge of responsibility for bringing up the subject, and gathering his courage, Midoriya took Hades's arm.
- Sorry for asking that...
- Don't touch me, you dirty mortal!
Hades stated at the green-haired boy's apology as he moved away from the boy's grasp.
A small, high-pitched squeal came from the boy's mouth at Hades' sudden actions.
Still, he paid no attention and remained lost in his thoughts.
....
A few more minutes passed and they had finally arrived at the apartment complex where Midoriya lives.
The last stretch of the road was filled with an uncomfortable silence.
Hades simply ignored the boy's attempts at conversation, and just walked straight ahead until he reached his destination.
....
- I did my part by bringing you here, now I'm leaving.
Hades stated as he began to leave, in what he believed to be his tent.
But, Midoriya's arm almost flew out in the direction of the man from Hades.
Hades turned his head slightly and looked over his shoulder.
- That!?
Hades exclaimed, but the green-haired boy was not intimidated.
- Are you hungry?
...
- No!
Hades denied it flatly, but his long-starved stomach growled at the refusal.
The growl was so loud that Midoriya heard it clearly.
And smiling, he thought he had won.
Still, Hades began to walk.
- I don't want the mercy of a mere mortal.
It was his statement as he walked off into the darkness without looking back.
...
Midoriya was slightly puzzled by Hades' actions, he felt a little bad about his refusal, but, remembering that his mother had called him more than 10 times, he reluctantly entered his house.
- "I hope to see him in the hero class..."
It was his thought before entering the building.
....
Hades could only walk with a clear destination, but without any direction.
The little-traveled road he traveled left him at the mercy of darkness.
Without light in his walk, he raised his gaze, and began to appreciate the infinity of the night, which covers the entire place and bathes mortals with its dark veil.
He was used to loneliness, he had spent millennia alone, but today he felt lonelier than ever.
It was a strange feeling, something told her that maybe accepting the boy's offer wouldn't have been a bad idea.
But, Hades was stubborn in his ideal, he did not want mercy at the hands of a mere mortal.
He may not always express it, but the hatred that persists in his heart eats away at him day after day.
The pain and hatred that comes with the betrayal of those I once loved still stings every time I close my eyes.
His now mortal body was weak and vulnerable to mental disorders, he was weak in the face of loneliness.
He may not be aware, he may prefer solitude, but worldly feelings are corrupting his worldview.
He can only walk alone in the darkness, he can only go aimlessly.
Slowly, step by step, he walks alone once more in this world.
Maybe, she liked the boy's company, but, he simply won't accept it.
It just won't do it.
.....
Time passed without hesitation, the minutes ticking by in an endless marathon as Hades slowly made his way to his tent.
The rain was present in his walk.
A torrential downpour appeared seemingly out of nowhere accompanied by strong winds that threatened to knock him over.
But, this didn't seem to matter to Hades.
He thought this was nothing and couldn't get any worse.
Still, he quickened his pace.
And, upon arrival, the view was the same as always.
A deathly silence surrounded the surrounding area, only interrupted by the crackling of the rain against the cold waters of the river.
But, above all, loneliness welcomed him with open arms.
The fire that once provided shelter and comfort from the cold of the night was now nothing more than simple ashes.
Cold, wet ashes of what once was.
The small pile of mushrooms, lying at his side, had disappeared.
The mushrooms that were once given to him simply disappeared.
There were none in sight.
The notes from the girl who gave him the food were also missing.
It was as if she had never appeared in the first place.
- "When did it happen?"
It was the question that ran through Hades' mind.
His stomach growled with hunger, growled with pleading, his stomach longed for food.
....
With no other options in sight, Hades entered his tent.
A cold, messy pile of clothes greeted him.
What once brought him the comfort of sleep was scattered everywhere.
There were footprints, a faint acrid smell filled his sense of smell.
Hades didn't know where that smell came from, he only knew that it was disgusting.
He wanted to ignore the smell and just sleep, but as he started crawling toward the center of his tent, he felt something awful.
His right hand, his main tool, touched something wet but warm.
Hades raised an eyebrow in confusion.
For a moment, he thought it was a mushroom, he thought the girl had left the mushrooms inside the tent.
And, deciding to take it to his mouth, he could feel it.
He could smell the source of the disgusting smell.
Since what he had in his hand was nothing more than the bones of some animal.
Understanding dawned on him in a matter of milliseconds.
And with horror on his face, he ran.
Hades ran out of the tent.
He ran as fast as he could, towards the river.
And when he arrived, he completely submerged his hand.
He washed it, rubbed it between some rocks and the mud at the bottom of the river, but the stench did not go away.
The stinky musky scent didn't go away.
He tried everything he could, but the smell just wouldn't go away.
He plunged his hand once more into the water with desperation etched on his face.
But, thanks to the darkness of the night and the powerful gusts of wind, he fell.
He fell into the cold waters of the river.
....
The strong currents threatened to drag him away from the shore.
A powerful blow to his forehead disconcerted him slightly.
It was a stabbing pain that didn't stop in his forehead.
Because, he could feel, he could feel an object inserting into his abdomen.
....
Hades struggled, struggled to get out of the icy waters of the river that wanted to engulf him.
It was a fight almost lost, but he achieved his goal, and with great effort, he was able to escape from the cold jaws of the river.
....
Hades was completely soaked and tired.
And, a small trickle of blood from his forehead made an appearance.
The pain coming from his forehead filled him with despair.
He wanted to scream, he wanted to get all the frustration out that he had inside.
Everything was heading for total disaster.
He couldn't start a fire because of all the water falling on him, he couldn't take shelter in his tent, he had nothing to eat.
His stomach growled with hunger, his abdomen burned with pain, his heart cried with sadness, his head and mind screamed with frustration.
"Curse!"
Hades yelled at the top of his lungs, his helpless scream rivaling the crackling of the rain.
Her scream continued for several more seconds, as her faint voice was carried away by the gale.
This day had started out so well, and now everything was complete shit.
Hades' anguished screams were completely stifled as pain surged from his throat, pleading for mercy.
I asked him to stop, but Hades didn't listen.
Her screams continued until her voice was drowned out by faint, stifled sobs.
He fell.
He fell to his knees and placed both hands on the mud on the riverbank.
Small drops of blood painted the floor along with small salty tears.
...
For the first time in a long time, Hades shed small tears unworthy of a deity.
And, like a taciturn understanding, he realized.
He finally understood, after several months, that he had left his deity.
The divinity that once coursed through his rotten body had completely disappeared.
Hades wanted to deny it, he wanted to ignore that truth for his own well-being and stability.
But now, he could no longer deny it.
I could no longer escape reality.
A God never cries, a God never bleeds.
But look at him now.
Now he was nothing more than a mere mortal, a mere mortal of the kind he had always despised.
A human being, fragile and sensitive.
Hades felt the despair that this discovery brings.
A fear ran through him in a matter of seconds as if it were a lightning bolt.
And, he could understand that, Hades, the God of death and the Underworld, had died.
......
The next day.
....
The rain that once lashed the town of Musutafu had finally stopped completely.
But its consequences will not be able to disappear.
What this natural phenomenon brought about cannot be erased from Hades' mind.
And he won't be able to recover soon.
...
Hades point of view.
...
- "The floor... It's cold."
It was the first sensation I had when I woke up.
But, it wasn't just the ground, my body, my body is completely numb and frozen.
The tips of my fingers feel tense and tremble to the faint beat of my heart.
Little rays of light, try to help me.
They try to give me the warmth I've lost, but that won't be enough for me.
I don't know what to do with my life anymore.
Now I am just a mere mortal, a mere flawed creation, a being with a predefined expiration date.
Honestly, I don't think I can get my revenge.
The revenge I've longed for is fading away before me.
Because... How can a mere mortal face an entire pantheon? How can a mere mortal face a God? How the hell can a damn mortal even cross dimensions!?
....
Don't know.
And honestly, I'm starting to stop caring.
....
- Hades...!
A voice is heard in the distance.
Distance distorts the meaning of the scream, or simply, I don't want to listen.
- There it is...!
The same scream was heard again, but this time, the owner of this scream was someone else.
They were two people shouting in the distance.
I didn't know how far away they were, they're probably just passersby communicating with each other.
I... I just want to rest.
And slowly, I close my eyes once more, but...
- Hades-san!
The screams now had a different feeling.
They were cries full of concern and slight anguish.
I didn't know who the owners of those voices were.
But, a small part of me.
A little corner inside me just wants them to come fast.
I just want... them to hurry up.
My breathing is slightly labored by some obstruction in my airways.
And slowly, my chest stops rising.
.....
I open my eyes slightly.
I open them, to find out who owned the shadow that just blocked the sunlight above me.
And, I could see.
I could see strands of brown and green hair.
A small smile forms at the corner of my mouth.
I don't know why, I don't know... I just don't know.
Why, do I feel so relieved?
.....
Point of view / third person.
.....
Dawn falls on the entire city, people wake from their dreams, some prepare for work or school.
But the feeling of tiredness is the same for everyone.
Except, for two people.
Two people who set out on their journey towards the same destination, but with different intentions.
Kinoko and Midoriya had started their routines.
The first would be a short walk towards the bridge where Hades is staying to grow some mushrooms for him.
Midoriya, on the other hand, would use his morning jog as an excuse to head in the same direction Hades took the night before.
They were both slightly worried because of the typhoon that hit the night before.
The two people knew that Hades lived under a bridge, and they wanted to see him.
They wanted to make sure I was okay.
They both started with a light trot.
But as time passed, their concerns grew.
With every passing second, countless situations rushed through their little minds.
And what started as a light walk, turned into a race.
A race against time.
They both ran as fast as their legs could carry them.
And, they both met.
The two looked at each other for a moment, but, with their minds focused on someone else, they decided not to take their eyes off the road.
....
The race didn't last much longer, as they had arrived.
They both arrived at the bridge where Hades lives.
Their hearts were beating a thousand miles an hour due to the physical exertion and the anxiety they felt.
But, the beating of their hearts stopped for a moment.
Their hearts froze as they saw the scene before them.
What Hades once called home, his tent, was completely destroyed.
Hades' home was completely crushed by a huge log that was swept away by the powerful gusts of wind.
Their legs buckled as they believed the worst.
Their hearts were in their throats, causing them to freeze in place.
- Hades!
Kinoko shouted, as she was followed by Midoriya, and the two began to descend the small mud-filled ravine that flanked Hades's small home.
Tears began to flow down the brown-haired girl's eyes as the worst-case scenario ran through her mind.
She had taken care of him for the last few months.
Kinoko, I brought him some extra nutritious mushrooms so he could have something to eat during the week.
She was deeply grateful to be rescued by him, and this was the only thing she could do before he moved away to attend UA.
She wanted to talk to him today to tell him about her performance on yesterday's exam.
I wanted to know what would become of him from now on.
But the situation he saw with his own eyes twisted his stomach.
The mere thought of seeing Hades's cold corpse made him start hyperventilating.
And, this feeling was not unique to her.
The person next to her, Midoriya, was in a similar state.
While it was true that they didn't know each other very well, the boy had shared a lot with him the night before and they had connected in a few places.
I wanted to remain heroic companions.
And just the thought of seeing one of the few people he had connected with dead weighed heavily on his conscience.
Midoriya had invited him the night before, the mere memory of that makes him believe that perhaps he should have insisted more.
If only he had been more insistent, maybe this wouldn't be happening.
If only I had forced him...
Both boys were getting lost in their own worlds believing the worst, but, when they gave up on everything, Midoriya rolled his gaze slightly, and with that, he managed to see a body lying on the banks of the river.
A small glimmer of hope ran through the green-haired man's body.
And without holding back his excitement any longer, Midoriya shouted.
- There it is!
Kinoko's eyes scanned the surroundings until they stopped on the figure of a body lying in the mud.
And, opening his eyes wide, hope ran through his body.
But, something was strange, the closer they got, the more they realized their current situation.
They noticed a small trickle of dried blood running down his face.
Despair gripped them again, as they failed to stifle another cry with his name.
- Hades-san!
They screamed in unison, the sight of his body lying in the mud while being bathed in his own blood had left them completely bewildered.
And, upon reaching his location, both became desperate upon noticing the current state of his body.
Her face, once vibrant with color, was now tinged with a sickly pale color.
Her full, slightly reddish lips were now painted entirely in a strange pale blue color.
They panicked.
Hades was facing hypothermia, and was dying in front of them.
And without wasting any more time, Kinoko grabbed her phone and started calling emergency services.
- Ho ho hello! I don't need you, we need an ambulance as fast as possible!
Kinoko exclaimed, as she panicked, she was scared, she was scared of the current situation of the person who had saved her life.
Instead, Midoriya held him, taking him with all the gentleness he could muster.
And taking him in her arms, she managed to see a sign of hope.
Hades's eyes widened slightly for a few moments.
This filled Midoriya's heart with relief, and without wasting any more time, he started running.
He started running like he had never done before while being followed by the girl he had known until recently.
They didn't have time for formalities; they needed to get to the ambulances and rescuers as quickly as possible.
Time, once again, was his enemy.
They had no time to waste.
If they delay any longer, Hades will die.
.....
They were afraid, both of them continued without stopping in search of the sweet sound of the ambulances.
That sound that had once bothered them so much because of the noise it made was now what they were most looking for.
Their hearts raced with every step they took.
Her legs burned with every stretch she walked.
They were desperate to get there.
And, as they were crossing a corner, they finally heard him.
Finally, they heard the ambulance siren.
Joy ran through the hearts of both boys, an immediate relief flooded them.
Finally, they managed to see the colors white and red.
......
TO BE CONTINUED.
