Chapter 1 - CHAPTER 1: Beginnings

Victor Kane woke up with a splitting headache, only to realize that the body he had wasn't his. Before he could process what was happening, a massive wave of memories crashed into his brain, and he blacked out.

He woke up 15 minutes later, his face frozen in shock. He couldn't believe it. Just a moment ago, he had been raging, throwing whatever he could find around his house after watching Manchester City lose yet another match. But now, he was here—in the body of Victor Kane, a man who shared his name but led a completely different life.

In his past life, he had been a diehard football fan, though his weak physique had prevented him from pursuing the sport professionally. What he lacked in athletic ability, he made up for in technical knowledge.

His Sundays were always reserved for football. Despite being only 22, he had the appearance of a middle-aged man—tired, worn down by frustration and disappointment. Just like any other day, he had settled in to watch a match, but when Manchester City suffered yet another humiliating defeat, it was the final straw. His anger boiled over, and in his blind rage, he blacked out. And now, he was here.

He had somehow been reborn in the body of another Victor Kane, a man eerily similar to himself—a football fanatic with a weak body who had managed to enroll in coaching school and earn a certificate. However, his journey had been anything but smooth.

A month ago, Victor Kane had finally gotten a lucky break—an interview with Burton Albion, a Championship club desperate to avoid relegation. His excitement was short-lived; reality hit hard.

The players didn't respect him. To them, he was just another rookie coach—too young and unproven, with no influence over the team. The board didn't trust him either, refusing to grant him any real authority.

He wasn't their leader, just a temporary solution while they searched for a proper head coach.

The previous coach had been even worse—managing just five wins across the entire season. Losses and draws had piled up, and even if the club hadn't fired him, the fans would have forced him out.

Now, Victor Kane inherited his mess. The former coach had literally died from stress and overwork, but he had refused to give up on his dream until the very end.

And neither would Victor.

Victor took a deep breath. Since I'm in this body, I need to figure out my situation quickly.

Burton Albion, in one word, was hopeless.

✔ No star players.

✔ No rising talent.

✔ No team morale.

The squad lacked self-esteem, and worse—they didn't trust him. If things didn't improve fast, he was doomed.

According to his new memories, the team needed to win at least 3 of their last 5 matches, or they'd be relegated to League Two next season. If that happened, his coaching career would collapse before it even began.

Victor racked his brain, trying to devise a strategy.

It would be nice to have some kind of cheat… something to guarantee success.

And then—

A bright light exploded in his mind.

A System?

Victor's jaw dropped.

"What… A system? Just like that?"

System: "..."

He blinked.

"Hey, system—give me some money too."

System: "..."

Silence.

Damn. This system is ignoring me.

Sorting through his newly acquired memories, Victor realized something else—he was broke. No, not just broke—poor.

His salary was just $4,000, most of which paid his student loans and rent, leaving him with less than $1,000 a month to survive on.

So, what now?
