Chapter 16 - Chapter 16: Insult

Ria raised her head up in shock, "sir, I have already apologized, you can't fire me, I have a mother to take care of."

"You should have thought about that before going against the boss's orders," Damien scoffed. He hated people like this who didn't learn how to mind their business.

"Please boss, I promise not to make the same mistake again," Ria pleaded, hoping that Bryce would change his mind.

Bryce didn't respond to her, gesturing for Damien to pull her out.

"You'd regret firing me, I was only trying to help you, yet you are being ungrateful," Ria yelled while Damien pulled her out of the office with a disgusted look.

The whole CEO's floor was filled with Ria's screams and curses. A few minutes later, the floor regained its normal peace.

"Boss, it's done," Damien informed Bryce.

"Keep an eye on her, we can't overlook her threats," Bryce instructed while twirling his pen.

Meanwhile, Ria who had been thrown out of the company had a horrible expression on her face. She forced herself to stand while glaring at the top floor of the building as though she was glaring at Bryce.

Suddenly, she felt the air around her change. Ria rubbed her hands instinctively due to the sudden cold weather.

"Do you want revenge?" Ria snapped her head around once she heard the question.

Instantly, she took a step back in fright on seeing the lady in front of her. This was because the lady had red pupils, and a part of her body was burnt.

The lady grinned, showcasing her pearly white teeth, confusing Ria who wondered why the lady looked so different.

"My name is Thalia, you can call me Lia for short," Thalia introduced herself, while she waited for Ria's acknowledgment.

But Ria was in a state of confusion. She was still baffled by the lady's appearance, and her straightforward question.

"I think I asked a question, do you want to take revenge on your boss who fired you when you were only trying to fulfill your tasks?" Thalia asked once again.

Ria, on the other hand, was filled with disbelief. She parted her lips, aiming to speak, but she was at a loss of words.

The words were at the tip of her tongue, but she couldn't make out any words.

"You are trying to ask how I found out about it, isn't it?" Thalia asked with a creepy giggle which caused goosebumps to rise on Ria's body.

Ria nodded instantly. She was confused as she had never seen Thalia in the company, or anywhere at that, so she pondered on how she knew about her situation.

"I know everything," Thalia replied with a cackle.

"Now, are you interested in taking revenge, my leader has several plans for your boss, and you can help, while also fulfilling your wishes," she persisted with the questions.

Ria weighed her gains and losses. She had nothing left to lose. She was an orphan without any family, and since the lady in front of her claimed they could get revenge on Bryce, she was willing to do anything after the humiliation she faced today.

With these thoughts in mind, she agreed to Thalia's words.

Thalia clapped happily like a child who had just been given candy.

"Great, I'll take you to my leader, she would be happy to have you with her," Thalia smiled, taking hold of Ria's hands, shocking the latter.

"Who's your leader?" Ria could not stop herself from questioning as she felt curious.

"My leader?" Thalia chuckled.

"You will know once you meet her, but she doesn't like to be kept waiting," Thalia responded with a creepy smile.

But that was just the beginning of the shock she was go experience. Before she could understand what was going on, she found herself in a different environment.

Ria turned to look at Thalia whose attention was on huge edifice. Ria turned her attention to the edifice, and she let out a loud shriek before collapsing to the floor.

Thalia sighed, before gesturing to the guards to take her in.

Bryce left the company early. He wanted to check up on Marissa.

"You are back home early? You don't have anything to do in the office?" Marissa asked once he walked into the room.

"There wasn't much to do, and I rushed my last work so I could come home to spend time with you," Bryce replied while joining her on the sofa.

If Damien were here, he would have gasped due to shock. After all, Bryce was the one who pushed out a million-dollar signing contract because he missed Marissa.

Meanwhile, Marissa believed. She didn't visit the company, so she could not discern if he was lying or not.

"After you have fully recovered, you can begin your training, but before that, can we have the mating ceremony, I can't wait anymore," Bryce whispered the last words, as though he was holding back on something.

Marissa instantly turned to look at Bryce who had a look of pleading in his eyes.

She broke into a smile, before saying, "I had thought you would never ask, I have also been waiting."

Bryce grinned. He was happy he wasn't the only one who shared the same sentiments.

A few days later, Marissa was fully recovered, and planning for the mating ceremony was finally in full swing.

Currently, the planning committee was discussing with Marissa about what sort of ambience she would want for her big day.

Marissa seemed visibly exhausted, but she still forced herself to respond to every one of their questions as to how she wanted her big day to look like.

Bethany who was seated by her side had an annoyed expression on her face. She thought that their plan was to tire her friend.

When she could not take it anymore, she shouted, "can we have a tea break?"

The members of the committee turned to look at her, appalled by her audacity.

Marissa, on the other hand, forced herself to remain still. She knew it was just a matter of time before Bethany would flare up, and she wasn't wrong.

"It seems our future Luna is not cut out for planning, asking for a tea break? Such a joke," Eliana sneered at the entire situation.

It turned out she was also a member of the committee.

She had forced her way into the committee, claiming she had a few ideas of what the mating ceremony should look like, and since she was the daughter of a high-ranking elder, they couldn't refuse.

When Bethany had seen her walk into the office, she knew she was up to something. And she wasn't wrong.

Eliana was friends with the remaining members, so they followed her lead, aiming to make things difficult for Marissa.

"We have been here for about five hours, don't you think you also need a break? What's so bad about having tea while discussing?" Bethany did not hold back while firing back.

"Marissa, would you just sit and watch your dog bark at me? Or don't you have something to say?" Eliana asked with a smirk, crossing her legs while looking at Bethany whose face had turned red due to humiliation.

"You.." Bethany was about to reply, but she was held back by Marissa who gestured to her.

"Does Miss Eliana have a problem with me?" Marissa asked with a small smile gracing her lips, while staring intently at Eliana with her brows raised.
