Bryce panicked instantly, rushing to her, "I'll get you to the pack now, just hang in there okay?"
Bryce picked her up and walked out of the office, only to bump into Damien.
"The car is ready," Damien informed, before his eyes landed on Marissa.
He blinked slightly, shocked by her appearance and unconsciousness.
"Inform Gray to take over the meeting, I'll head to the pack now," Bryce instructed, walking out.
Damien sighed as he watched Bryce leave, which left him to wonder what happened to the Luna.
____________
Bryce rushed into the mansion with Marissa in his hands, while yelling at the maids to get the physician.
Soon, the physician arrived, urgency written all over his face.
"You must save her, I don't care what it takes, but you must save my mate," Bryce held the physician by his shirt while threatening him.
"I will do my best Alpha," the physician assured him.
"But I might not be able to save her if you keep on holding me," the physician smiled slightly, causing Bryce to let go of him instantly.
The physician then walked to the bed, and once he laid his eyes on Marissa, his expression turned grave.
"Does she have any allergies?" The physician asked, his voice was laced with worry.
"Yes, she is allergic to honey," Bryce replied, wondering what the physician meant.
"It seems she took honey, and her allergies flared up," the physician explained.
Bryce took a step back in surprise. He was confused as to how she took honey when he had specified that honey shouldn't be added to any of her dishes.
"Will she be alright?" Bryce inquired, this was his major concern.
"Of course, once I give her the right treatment, then she will be okay," the physician replied.
"Then carry on," Bryce instructed, collapsing to the sofa due to exhaustion.
A few minutes later, the physician was done, as he turned to look at Bryce., "give her an hour, she will be up."
"You may leave." Bryce dismissed him with a tired smile.
'How did you end up taking honey?' Bryce asked no one in particular while staring at the unconscious Marissa.
Suddenly, a thought flashed through his mind, and he immediately pulled out his phone, sending a text to Damien.
"I will find out who did this to you, and I will make them pay," Bryce promised, his voice fierce with determination, while staring at Marissa whose redness was fading.
__________
Night fell, and Bryce was still watching over Marissa who had surprisingly not woken up. He had sent for the physician who assured him that she was alright.
Bryce was currently watching the moon through the window.
He suddenly heard a faint sound, and he instantly turned. He let out a sigh of relief seeing that Marissa was already regaining consciousness.
Bryce rushed to her side, holding her hands at once.
"Bryce.... where were you?" Marissa asked, her voice barely audible.
"It hurt.. so... much.... And you weren't there," Marissa complained with a low voice when she opened her eyes.
"I'm sorry, I wasn't there for you when you needed me the most, it won't happen again," Bryce apologized while kissing her palms.
"What happened? How did your allergies flare up?" Bryce questioned while staring at her. He wanted to punish the mastermind who dared to hurt her.
"The tea I drank was laced with honey, I am allergic to honey," Marissa explained while looking up at the ceiling.
She recalled what had happened before she lost consciousness. She had thought she would die. Her heart was constricted in pain, and she had trouble breathing.
"Who served you the tea?" He asked.
Marissa frowned while trying to recall the name.
"I don't think I rem ---- Ria, she said her name was Ria," Marissa exclaimed.
Bryce nodded while he took note of the name.
"Are you hungry?" He asked, changing the topic.
Marissa nodded, while observing his face with her brows drawn together.
"You look exhausted, what's wrong with you?" Marissa questioned, trying to sit up.
"Don't force yourself, I'm okay, I was just a bit worried about you," Bryce explained with a reassuring smile.
Marissa, on the other hand, gave him a look of doubt. It was clear she doubted his words, but since he didn't want to tell her what was wrong, she would not force him.
"Okay," Marissa replied with a small voice.
"I'll ask the maids to get your food, do you have any preference?" He asked.
"I'm not a picky eater, as long as the food doesn't contain what might trigger my allergies, I'm fine by it," she replied.
"Alright then, be good, I'll be back soon," Bryce instinctively rubbed her hair, before leaving the room.
___________
The next day, Marissa didn't accompany Bryce to the company, instead, she stayed home with Bethany who supervised her recovery.
Meanwhile, Bryce arrived at the company with Damien who ordered all the secretaries to make their way into the office.
The secretaries discussed among themselves while wondering what might have happened. They felt that they were being summoned because of yesterday's issue as they all witnessed Bryce carrying the unconscious Marissa with their eyes.
While thinking of this, all of them turned to stare at Ria with pitiful eyes, after all, she had been the one to serve Marissa the previous day.
When they all walked into the office, they could feel the atmosphere was abnormal. They all swallowed when they came in contact with Bryce's face, he had a blank expression on his face.
But they knew better, this was only the calm before the storm. The atmosphere was calm, but they could sense the tension in the air.
"Who served my wife yesterday?" Bryce demanded, his gaze following everyone of their moves.
The secretaries all turned to look at Ria who took a step back in fear. She did not expect that Marissa was the wife of Bryce.
She had thought that Marissa was one of those girls who tried to get close to the CEO, and she thought she was doing the CEO a favour by getting rid of her.
She would never have thought that her actions would not be applauded, rather, it put her into trouble.
Bryce followed their gazes, and his jaws clenched in anger. He gestured for them to take their leave, leaving Ria behind.
"I am sorry boss, I never expected her to be your wife, I thought she was like those women who ran after you, that's why I did what I did, please forgive me boss," Ria fell to her knees instantly while pleading for mercy.
She was scared that she would be dismissed. She had no idea where she could find another job which paid as high as this.
Bryce's jaws twitched at her words, "is this why you ignored my specific orders?"
"Please forgive me boss, it won't repeat itself again," Ria kowtowed severally.
"Of course it won't as I would be firing you," Bryce dropped his judgment, not minding the fake remorsefulness she showed.
