Two days. It's been two days since I stayed at his apartment.
To say we are pretty much strangers, now is more strange.
I don't know, I have no idea what we are now.
He did say, Friends.
I take a deep breath, slowly walking into the company. I feel good, my feet are pretty much healed and walking isn't that big of a deal now. I smile, greeting a few co-workers who pass by me, giving me a weird smile.
Is something wrong? I shrug, walking to the elevator as I stand in the corner among the others. But then, my thoughts run back to him.
Not that I dislike that, but we haven't been exactly behaving as friends.
I sigh.
It was going all good, too good to be true. But now… I don't know.
Honestly, this is insane.
I wish I knew.
"Oh, Miss Damaris?" I flinch, looking up, and I smile seeing a co-worker. "Hello. How-"
"I heard what happened to you, are you okay?"
I blink my eyes, confused. As I was about to speak, the door opened and more rushed in, and she got pushed away. I smile at her as she does too. I stand aside, frowning.
Soon, they leave and I get off on my floor. Slowly making my way to the office.
As I was saying, he is keeping a distance now, all of a sudden, after being so nice to me, and I wonder why.
Did I do something wrong?
"Sie."
I look ahead, noticing Vier walking my way with a soft smile. "Finally, you are here. Heard what happened. You okay?" He asks.
He is the second to ask me the same.
I nod, maybe the incident spread like fire, especially around her.
Come on, I just fainted. Give it a break.
I smile, nodding my head. "All back to normal, why?"
Vier chuckles, shaking his head, "Glad to know. I missed you, aye." He nudges me, making me chuckle. He is such a good guy.
"Oh, did you?" I ask, grinning.
He nods his head.
"Anyway, you shouldn't stress yourself over. Take care, Sie." Vier says, looking at me seriously. "Also, I need my mate. The project on my shoulder, ugh, heavy." He adds, playfully, and I giggle.
"But that's your project even if I wasn't here." I say, shrugging.
"Come on, now don't betray me. I am really happy with the assistance." Vier says, pouting dramatically, I shake my head, smiling. "Yes, sir. Understood."
He smiles, "Come on, we did progress in these two days. I will give you an update."
I followed him, looking around as I found a few looking at me, and as my eyes met, they looked away. I frown, feeling this weird atmosphere in the company, or just around me?
What got them on their toes? This curious.
"Sie? Are you listening?"
I blink my eyes, looking ahead, "Huh?" I mumble, smiling sheepishly as I got distracted.
Vier shakes his head with a chuckle, "What got you so distracted?"
I shrug, "Just… everyone is looking at me." I say, catching his pace, "Anyways, is the boss here?" I ask, biting my lower lip, avoiding his face. "Boss?" he asks.
I nod my head, "Yeah. Is he in the office? What about Mr. Secretary?" I ask, looking everywhere but him. Vier frowns, "Why? They are here, is something wrong?" He questions, looking concerned. I shake my head no.
"No, I was just curious. I mean…I have to thank Mr. Secretary, you know? He helped me. Haha." I mumble, faking a laugh, looking around, avoiding his gaze, he nods, trying not to pry, which I am grateful for.
"You can just find him on the floor above, if you need to thank." He chuckles, looking at me.
I nod.
As we reach our respective chairs, "Let's head to the meeting room, we have one in half an hour. I will brief you on the changes and updates." Vier grabs the documents and prints, gesturing for me to follow.
I put my coat and bag against my chair as I follow him.
Heading inside the cabin, we take seats across from each other. "Is the timeline prepared?" I ask, grabbing the file, "Yeah, done and reviewed." Vier says, watching me look around.
"Um, we only have two months?" I look at him, and he nods.
"Yup, one and a half months to finalize the draft. In a week after the two months, we will have to officially present before them- the final product." Vier says, I nod, going through the detailed timeline.
"About the thing we talked about with the boss." I start looking at him.
"What about it?"
"I think I said too much then. Haha." I scratch my head, "Thanks for supporting me despite… You know." I mumble, embarrassed. "It seems like we don't really have time for advising the production."
Vier chuckles, "Though, it's not that bad of an idea. We can use this concept note as a proposition. Like for next probable collaboration?"
I smile, "Maybe. We can try when we have a word with them."
Vier nods, "So, let's focus on having the shoot prepared?"
I nod, "Are we focusing on the same thing, right?" I ask, recalling our conversation from last time, "Yup, now we start with models. I have proposed a listing for new intake, and hopefully, the company will agree."
"Already?" I ask, surprised.
"You sure work really hard and efficiently." I add.
Vier chuckles, "Of course, the boss keeps a check on this project every day."
"You were just scared, huh?" I chuckle, teasing him. He gives me a weird look and chuckles, "Come on, it's not that. I am very diligent."
I chuckle, nodding my head and looking at the papers, checking thoroughly.
My anticipation hypes up, the more I indulge myself in the work, the more occupied I get with the work.
Luthien and the atmosphere residing at the far corner of my mind.
But really? How long until he will have me suffe
ring with thoughts, not just thoughts, but complete chaos.
