Chapter 4 - The Demonic Sect

Jinshen rummaged through his belongings, he had no clothes left except the cloak which he had tore a piece out of, so he would be naked underneath the cloak, a thing that might get him thrown out or punished.

What do I do now... Nanomachine, can you make me some clothes?

Nanomachine remained silently for a few moments, most likely analyzing its master's orders before a whirring started in Jinshen's mind as he felt as if he was starting to lose some weight

W-What the?

Jinshen's rapid weight loss continued as the same silver liquid that Nanomachine used to create came out of his sweat pores but this time it started coating his body, it felt strange, sending goosebumps across Jinshen's body.

It feels like I'm swimming in oil, is this really clothing?

The liquid started to shift in colors, landing on a jade color before it started firming up into a flowy robe akin to silk that had long sleeves that hugged his arms tightly, it had a small symbol of a black crown on his shoulders, at the edge of the robe was the pattern of golden flames that shone in the sunlight that was peeking through the window, on his back was a symbol of the chinese character of Huáng.

His inner tunic was a golden color, it was hugging his torso tightly, like a comforting hug but the material was also strange, it was keeping him cool yet also felt warm to the touch like cotton, it seemed the Nanomachine synthesized this material by itself.

The leggings were black and tight, a white bandage type cloth wrapped around his left thigh, they seemed normal and almost like a weakness but Jinshen felt like all of his clothing was made of the highest quality of steel, it was strong but light at the same time, just like his sword it was made just for him.

The boots were simple and were strange, they seemed to be alien, not of this current time. They felt like they were made of leather and when they were fully synthesized, a faint glow occurred. The boots were marked by flowing lines like silver roots, gliding smoothly from toe to heel with an energy that felt alive, spreading in an unpredictable manner before the glowing stopped.

Amazing.. I feel like a noble.

He thought to himself as he slowly walked around the room, the boots were silent, not making a sound, his robe was flowing in the wind in an elegant manner and the leggings did not restrict his movements at all despite them looking and feeling tight.

The whirring finally stopped as Nanomachine spoke, its voice was becoming more and more human by the second, now it had a masculine feel to it that sounded almost brotherly, like the younger brother Jinshen always wanted when he was younger.

Master, I have used the same process I used to create the sword in order to create clothing, but I had to use some of you're fat and protein from you're muscles in order to convert them into proper clothing, do not worry about this getting injured, according to my calculations this will take 80000 newtons of force in order to damage it. So I recommened you eat as soon as possible.

Jinshen didn't know what a 'newton' was, but the large number Nanomachine used to describe it made him feel reassured that he was now well-equiped for a warrior that could match a First Class Disciple.

Jinshen pulled out a few pills from his cloak that was on the ground, now having lost its purpose. The pills themselves were the size of his thumb and were decently heavy despite them being made of just herbs.

I'll eat these for now, I'll have to eat proper food later but these pills will do for now.

He popped the pills into his mouth one by one, chewing on them. They were just ground down herbs that were shaped into pills, they were a cheap way for wanderers like Jinshen to sustain themselves during travelling or training.

Oh and I almost forgot.. Thanks, Nanomachine, I think I should... Maybe join a sect or something for the resources.

Nanomachine let out a mechanical 'purr' at the praise which made Jinshen feel a bit off as he frowned. His stomach churned in a strange sensation of disgust

Don't make that sound..

Nanomachine's 'purring' stopped completely, but Jinshen could just feel a pout in its voice as it spoke, it was annoying Jinshen with how human it was starting to sound.

Okay master.

Jinshen sighed deeply, shaking his head as he climbed out of the window and jumped down to the back of the restaurant, picking up a small twig from the ground as he dusted it off before using it as a hairpin to put his hair in a neat bun, selling his look as a nobleman.

He started walking towards the city center, the only sounds that he was hearing were the flipping of pages, the sound of his own footsteps and hushed whispers as he walked through many alleys and passageways.

At first he was somewhat annoyed at the environment but he slowly started to appreciate the alone time he was getting with his thoughts as he started remembering his life as a slave before he escaped as a wanderer, but during his time as a slave, he had learnt many things, including some secrets.

Baiyun isn't a perfect city, it might seem like it is, but underneath all of that, is a whole other sect, one that shouldn't exist

Before long he arrived at an alley that exuded dark, heavy Qi that weighed his movements down, one that might make people collapse, but due to his newfound strength, this was merely an annoyance for Jinshen who simply walked into the alley without a care in the world.

At the end of the alley there was a large old man playing Xiangqi by himself, he was wearing normal, commoner clothing that were a deep brown, but there was just one thing about him. His Qi was very, very strong and was like an ocean. He was above a First Class Disciple in both raw power and strength that's for sure.

He had short curly black hair and a bushy beard that was slowly graying, but his muscles were still large and seemed to be sculpted out of stone by a artist. In fact, his whole body was a work of art, Jinshen could only wonder how large he would have been when he was younger.

Jinshen stood in front of the old man who was now picking his nose which really disgusted Jinshen but he remained quiet, he had heard about this man before. he was Zhang Kai, one of the best warriors that Baiyun had created and a recruiter for the Demonic Sect. that's why his Qi was so dark and heavy.

According to rumors, he went missing around 10 summers ago after a fight with scholars at the Jade Flower Sect where he was trained, he wasn't a scholar at heart, he was a warrior and will most likely remain a warrior for the rest of his life no matter what.

After a few moments of silence the Zhang Kai's game of Xiangqi finally ended as he rearranged the pieces back into their proper positions on the board before he stood up, staring into Jinshen's eyes with a blank, emotionless stare. His gaze itself was also heavy as it traveled up and down Jinshen's body, analyzing his clothing and face.

"Oh? You haven't passed out yet? Pretty impressive for a pretty boy. I suppose you're here to join Demonic Sect?"

Jinshen remained stoic as he nodded, his eyes readily meeting the man's unblinking gaze with one of his own that carried his determination and will to grow stronger as he curtly responded in a cold tone.

"Yes."

The man noticed Jinshen's determination and fearlessness, he frowned in satisfaction, rubbing his chin. He was satisfied by the will Jinshen exhibited, it wasn't some hopeful one that some people carried, it was one filled with greed and desire.

"Alright, I already think you're strong enough to be a decent member so I'll just send you to the Abyssal Caves."
