Chapter Eight
Aurora's POV
I spent the whole night searching for a suitable hotel since Liam said he didn't want to be seen in public places.
Who doesn't want to be seen in public places unless he's hiding something away from me? I thought.
After a thorough search, I finally found a hotel that I so much loved and booked a reservation. While trying to copy and send Liam the address, I dozed off due to the stress and pain I've been through all day.
I dreamt and saw Ethan and Celeste chasing me all around Sinclair's mansion, telling me to leave my father's property or else I was going to rot in jail since that was what they were here for. I jerked up from the dream a few hours later and I was all soaked with sweat.
I cleaned off my eyes and checked my time only to realize its way past the time I promised to send the address. I checked my phone and saw Liam typing out a message; just before I could allow him to do that, I immediately sent him the reservation I booked.
I was waiting for a positive response from him when he suddenly replied that he didn't like the hotel and thank goodness I had a second option and quickly sent them to him.
When I got no reply afterward, I walked into my bathroom and took my bath preparing myself for the date I had with Liam. I was halfway down the stairs when my mom suddenly stopped me in my tracks.
"Where are you off to in the early hours of this morning?" my mom asked.
"Since when did you start caring about my life?" I threw the question back at her without taking a glance at her.
"Is that how you respect your mother?" I overheard Celeste's voice only to turn back and see her standing behind Mom.
"And what are you doing here? Aren't you supposed to be in your husband's house or you got chased?" I asked, throwing her a wicked and deadly smile.
"No, I was just missing my mother, and thank goodness I have a husband's house to run to when I'm done here," Celeste said.
I don't have time to argue with her and my mom, so staying here much longer will turn this place into chaos, or I will either not attend the date with Liam again.
"Suit yourself and stop monitoring my life, you two," I said and stormed out, not waiting to hear what else they had to say.
I heaved out a heavy sigh of relief, immediately, I got into my car. It's just a matter of time before I will bring Liam into this house and introduce him as my husband. I will have to set him up to fit my parent's tastes since they want me to get married to a rich man.
I rested my head on the steering thinking of my next line of action to prove to them that I am not worthless and also deserving.
I was still busy with my thoughts when my phone suddenly started vibrating inside my handbag, I took it out and saw Liam calling.
"Oh, Shit!" I exclaimed immediately I looked up and checked the time.
"Damn it, I'm late," I muttered.
I started the car and drove outside the Sinclair's mansion before I picked up the call.
"Hi, Liam. Good morning," I said.
"You are thirty minutes late," all Liam could say.
I heaved out a heavy sigh as I thought of what to say before his voice came up again.
"I understand what you are going through even if you don't want to talk. I'm still here waiting helplessly for my guest," Liam said and with that, I ended the call.
But Holl up, why will a busy man get to a date earlier than the person who booked the reservation?
Maybe he's jobless and wants to make an earning from me. I thought as I drove down to the hotel with speed. I got there in less than twenty minutes and walked in only to see him seated already with food placed on his table.
"According to etiquette, I don't think it is right to order food and start eating without your date arriving, even if you paid for the reservation, but in this case, I paid for it," I said, walking towards him.
"You are fifty minutes late and I had to sort myself out before I starve to death," Liam said.
"Is that all?" I asked, staring at him.
"Yes, signal to the waiter and she will bring you whatever it is that you want," Liam said.
"I'm not here to eat but to talk about business, so let's get straight to the point," I said, dropping my handbag on the next chair available to me.
I signaled to the waitress to bring me only a bottle of water to fill my stomach with since I had a brief breakfast inside my room before leaving home.
"How's your sister's marriage?" Liam asked.
"How do you know about that?" I asked, forgetting all that I told him a day before.
"Tell me about your family instead," Liam said.
"You can read about my family online, so tell me about yours because it seems you have no generation," I said, harshly, but he wasn't moved at all.
"I'd take that as a compliment instead of an insult. There's nothing for you to know about me. My name is Liam, which you already know," Liam said, still pushing food into his mouth, which was kind of disgusting, but I had to take everything he did.
"Liam, it seems you are hiding something away from me because you said you don't want to be seen in public," I said.
"If it seems I'm hiding something away from you, then you should find out for yourself or wait for the best time to find out by yourself," Liam said and continued eating.
I waited for a few minutes before bringing out a document from my handbag and passing it over to him.
"That's a list of things that I like and things that I don't like. If you flip the pages, you will see a little information about me," I said.
He picked it up and I was waiting for him to go through it until he pushed it back to me.
"I know everything about you, Aurora. The contract signing will be tomorrow, I will send you a list of the marriage rules afterward, and we get to meet your parents tomorrow," Liam said.
"Now, I see that our meeting at the Velvet Lounge wasn't a coincidence at all. You did a little research about it and didn't bother to push me away that night," I said.
"Aurora, it's better you stop that thought in your head. You know nothing about me or who I am, so cut the trap, and let's start the marriage of a thing on a good note since you are benefiting most from it," Liam said, sounding angry, which made him look scarier.
"You should tell me about yourself instead of getting angry," I said.
Liam was about to reply before the waitress walked up to our table.
"Good day, Mr. Liam. Mr. Noah is here to see you, he's waiting at the private lounge," the waitress said.
"Alright," Liam said, nodding his head and the waitress left.
He didn't spare me another glance till he was out of sight.
Who is he?
Why does he speak with so much authority in his voice?
How did the waitress know his name?
I thought. I searched for the waitress who had come over to our table earlier but couldn't find her.
