Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Beast weapon

The weapons that were used by Hunters to hunt monsters in the dungeons were called Beast weapons. They were made from the materials and pieces of the monsters themselves, as normal weapons could do little to no harm at all against the monsters.

This was the case when Gates first appeared on Earth. The ammunition and weapons present on earth were not effective against those monsters, so someone came up with the idea of using their body parts to create weapons after a particular incident where someone had used the tooth of a Saber to kill a monster.

From then on, humans started creating weapons made from the materials of the monsters themselves. But that wasn't where he was going. The point he wanted to hit was that, some weapons could create magical energies, and they were gotten only from magical monsters ranked King tier and above.

When one had such a weapon, one could create a flame of fire, a ball of ice, and even summon lightning; a lot of things were possible with such weapons, and it was one of those very weapons Sir Jack was wielding right now.

Hal looked in awe as Sir Jack placed both his Katanas on themselves, each on the other, and after a series of mechanization, they joined together, becoming one long, huge,e, and scary weapon.

"Everyone get behind me, now." Sir Jack said in a cool but sharp voice. And Hal and Mr Height did as told. Nobody wanted to be at the end of that attack when it came unleashing.

The tip of the Sword grew red hot, and sparkles could be seen generating at the mouth; it didn't take long before it finished generating the attack.

A beam of reddish gold light shot out from the tip of the sword, incinerating everything in its path. The screams of the Goblins died off before they could fully start, finishing off the Goblins in a matter of seconds.

By the time he stopped the attack, only a pile of slightly green ash could be seen in place of the Goblins. The weapon was so effective it burned everything, even to their bones, and even the walls of the passage were scorched black.

As Hal and Mr Height still looked in awe, Sir Jack adjusted the weapon and held it with only his left hand, pocketed his right hand, and made a whistle with a cool expression. He was quite an old man, but his swag could be like that of a gangster at times.

"Whatcha all looking at? Come on, let's go clear this gate and be done with it. I need to get back to my little girl." He said as he leisurely walked away, one hand still holding the sword, the other in his pocket.

Hal clenched his fist, and his jaws tightened in determination. He needed to get that strong. Up to the point where he would be using such a weapon.

As he moved to join Mr Height, who was already trailing behind Sir Jack, he suddenly heard a scream.

Out of the blue, a scream reverberated throughout the dungeon from somewhere, one after the other.

"Uwwaahhk! !"

"Uwaahh!!"

Those weren't from the Goblins. No, they belonged to humans.

Sir Jack and Mr Height turned back and exchanged glances with Hal.

They thought the thing had calmed down, only for another desperate scream to enter their ears.

"Uwwahh!"

Sir Jack's expression hardened.

"Let's go take a look."

The three of them quickly ran to where the screams came from.

They all moved swiftly, and Hal didn't lag in terms of speed; he closely followed behind them, and that was only because he didn't want to raise more suspicion. He felt he could surpass them in terms of speed if he activated any of his speed-related abilities, but that would be cheating now, wouldn't it?

..... Just how long did they run before they all stopped in surprise?

There was a person there in the middle of the passage.

And it just so happened to be the Hunter from the Monitoring Division of the Organization, William Ferrell. He was kneeling on the ground covered completely in blood.

He shouted out at them.

"Careful, I don't know where they are hiding, they could be anyway right now."

He spat those words with great difficulty, before dropping powerlessly to the ground.

"Hal, you and Mr Height should stay right here, but I want you to be on full alert. Keep your ears and eyes strained for any noise or movement, ok?"

"I'll go over to look at him." After he finished giving out his orders, Sir Jack slowly walked towards where the Monitoring Division employee lay on the ground, his katana at the ready.

On getting to him, he bent down and touched him to feel his pulse.

It happened then.

William Ferrell rapidly raised his body halfway and aimed at Sir Jack's chest, his hand brimming with great attacking power.

Sir Jack was quick to react and raised his hand to block against the attack, but still got thrown away as the attack was indeed a strong one, from a B-rank Hunter no less.

Gbrahh! He made a loud crashing sound as he hit the wall, forming some cracks on it, but he was standing.

"Uh, what's going on?" Mr. Heights asked in confusion, but Hal thought it was quite clear.

Earlier, before they entered the Gate, he had sensed a malicious intent from the Convicts; he just never thought the employee from the Monitoring Division was in on it.

This was a setup planned by the Monitoring Division agent and the Replacement convicts.

And soon enough, Hal's hypothesis gained proof.

The four convicts all sneakily came out from their hiding spots one by one, but Hal wasn't surprised as he had known about their location due to the help of his Perception Stat.

"Ke ke ke!" They laughed.

"I would have loved to have that lady with us, a pity she didn't come down our little hole." One of them said.

"Ke ke ke !" They all laughed in unison.

Sir Jack held on to the side of the passage and shook his head to clear it. Once he was done, he raised his head to look at William Ferrell in anger and betrayal.

"You! You're going to die!" He screamed as he walked to meet William, who in turn was walking backward, deeper into the Passage.

He probably meant to deal with Sir Jack while the convicts dealt with Hal and Mr Height's.

When Sir Jack got his plan, he stopped for a brief moment and shouted at Hal and Mr Heights.

"Can the both of you take them all?"

"What? Just the both of us? No!" Mr Height's screamed.

There was no way he was taking down four rank C's all with the help of a common E-rank Hunter. He thought.

But Sir Jack didn't pay attention to him and only listened to the words that came out of Hal's mouth.

"Yeah, we can manage," Hal said cooly while flexing his arms.

After hearing that, Sir Jack nodded his head and left Hal to deal with the convicts.

He was going to deal with that backstabbing piece of crap who called himself a Hunter.
