While those on the lookout, Yamcha struggled. Dark clouds surrounded him, striking him with rain, ice, and even lightning. Each time he was struck, a new injury appeared. However, instead of waiting for death to claim him, he remained sturdy and unyielding.
This is the one thing I can not back down from. My very last chance to have some sort of self respect. I can not, and will not let this challenge defeat me…
Just as it seemed he was about to reach the top of the clouds, his body assumed a lotus position and floated there, constantly being struck by lightning. If he wanted to continue, he would seriously have to earn it.
~ Inside Yamcha's Mind ~
"What! What happened?"
"He, hear that?"
"I did, I did."
"Too funny. Too funny."
"He's scared of himself, even now."
"I bet Bosa was even more terrified facing that behemoth."
"Perhaps even more, when he crossed over to the otherworld."
"Hahaha! I'd bet, and yet that kid has more spirit than this guy."
"Truthfully, does he deserve the honor of ascension?
"Great question. We shall see."
"WE SHALL SEE! PASS OR FAIL… WE. SHALL. SEE."
Yamcha shouted into the recesses of his mind. "Who are all of you?!" Suddenly, the scene shifted to reveal the answer which he sought. Trembling, he cried, realizing something he should never have forgotten. "I see… So that's it… Do I deserve it? NO!, I DON'T! Will I still do it? OF COURSE! I'm not going to let that happen again!"
"WE SEE! PASS OR FAIL… WE. SEE."
Suddenly, Yamcha opened his eyes, the skies had cleared and his gi was torn to shreds. His body grievously wounded, and yet he smiled, realizing that even in his current state. He was stronger than ever before. He flew the rest of the way, and landed on Kami's lookout.
Chiaotzu looked a little confused as he looked at Yamcha, and then he smirked. "What took you so long? The skies were clear the whole time."
"Wait, what?"
Mr. Popo, who had been watching closely, began to explain. "There was a difference for each of you. Chiaotzu has long since cleansed his soul of any evil impurities. However, you Yamcha, you were something extremely different. The number of demons in your heart was not small. For you to ascend to this place, it would take you a great deal more effort to achieve the same result."
"I see, well. It makes sense. I haven't been the best guy over the last several years. Still…"
"You wish to ask what would happen if you hadn't overcome these hardships?"
"It's probably best I don't ask, right? He he he."
Kami returned, announcing as such by speaking to answer. "You would have fallen back to earth, or been killed by the demons in your heart." He raised a hand to his mouth. "Achem, training begins now. Work hard to prove yourself. I'm eager to see what you're able to accomplish this year."
"Thank you, Master Kami!"
~ Other World, King Kai's Planet ~
2 weeks of training later, and Bosa no longer had any difficulty moving freely under the current force of gravity. He was already moving just as fast as he did under the Gravity Chamber's force.
"You're a real hard worker there, Bosa."
"Thank you, King Kai. My papa taught me to push my limits and never stop growing."
"Your papa?"
"Yep, my Papa Goku! He's amazing, the best papa ever!"
King Kai's antenna flipped for a moment. "Oh, I see him. Hey, isn't he a… Saiyan!"
"Huh? I do seem to remember that brute saying something about my sister being his niece, or something like that. And they do have tails."
"A Saiyan that managed to grow a heart. I've not heard of such a thing for an incredibly long time. Truly incredible, remarkable."
Bosa, stretched his arms out with a big smile, his childish side endearing till the end. "Yeah, I love my papa a whole lot!
King Kai, thinking about it a little more… "I need to take a trip to visit someone. I'll even introduce some people there to you. I just know you'll like them."
"Really?"
"Yep, let's go, it won't take long."
~ Grand Kai's Planet ~
With the sudden shift in scenery, Bosa's eyes lit up. And when he saw the fighters training in the yard he couldn't help but get excited.
"King Kai, are all these people here, like my papa?"
"Uhm, to some degree, yes. Now, there's some people I'd like you to stay with for a moment while I talk with someone."
Olibu walked out from the northern quadrant's training hall. "Hey there King Kai, long time no see. How have you been?"
"Oh, not too bad. I did take in a student recently. You guys wouldn't mind looking after him for a while, would you?"
"Oh, where is this man?"
"Why, he's right here… Huh? Where'd you go, Bosa! Where did you go?"
Olibu pointed to the small head, poking out from behind King Kai. "Would you be the one that goes by Bosa?" He walked forward a few steps after realizing it was a kid, then knelt down and held out his hand. "My name's Olibu, a human from earth, a few thousand years ago now I think."
Bosa, with his gentle look, walked out, and timidly shook Olibu's hand. "My… My mommy named me, Bosa."
"That's a good name, so young Bosa. I heard you're training with King Kai."
"Yep, he's teaching me something called Yardratinian art spirit or something like that."
A warrior from behind Olibu chuckled a bit. "Yardratian Spirit Control, it's quite…" A handy ability, don't you think?" The same person had appeared behind Bosa.
Even though it was sudden, Bosa didn't flinch in the slightest. Instead his eyes grew wide with interest. "WOAH! YOU CAN TELEPORT! That's… so… COOL!!!"
Bosa went back with the Yardratian to get some more good training in. While Olibu and several other warriors got the scoop from King Kai, the scoop about how the kid, Bosa, ended up here in the otherworld.
"Alright, Bosa, you be good you hear. I'll be back in a few days to pick you up. In the meantime, learn all that you can from these warriors."
"I will! Have a safe trip Master King Kai!"
King Kai left, to his appointment with the Grand Kai. Olibu, and the warriors wrestled with the thought that a kid suffered such a terrible death. It changed their perspectives on how they had died.
