Darkness swallowed Shin whole.
He stood in a realm beyond comprehension, an infinite void stretching endlessly around him. There was no sky, no ground—only an abyss of shifting shadows. The sensation was disorienting, a crushing weight pressing upon his body as if reality itself sought to erase him.
Then came the voice.
"You cannot resist forever, Shin Noragetsu."
Tenka emerged from the abyss, his form shifting like liquid darkness. His eyes glowed with an eerie brilliance, the Abyss Eye pulsating with power beyond human limits. He walked forward without urgency, his presence alone distorting the space around him.
Shin steadied his breath. His Abyss Eye burned in response, a deep blue glow clashing against Tenka's ominous radiance. He knew this was no ordinary battle. This was a struggle for control—of the Void, of destiny itself.
"You dragged me into your domain," Shin said, gripping his katana. "But that just means I can cut you down without holding back."
Tenka chuckled. "You still don't understand, do you? This isn't my domain."
The void trembled. Tendrils of abyssal energy slithered from the darkness, coiling around Shin's feet before he severed them with a swift slash. The shadows recoiled, but they did not dissipate. They were alive, watching, waiting.
"This realm," Tenka continued, "is the true nature of existence. The void between worlds. It is not something I created, nor something you can destroy. It simply is."
Shin's gaze hardened. "Then I'll carve my own path through it."
Without another word, he moved. His katana sliced through the abyss, the sheer force of his attack parting the darkness. But Tenka was faster. He raised his hand, and the void responded. A massive force struck Shin mid-air, sending him crashing into an unseen surface. Pain shot through his body, but he forced himself to stand.
Tenka walked toward him, unhurried. "Your resistance is admirable. But the Void is not something you fight—it is something you become."
Shin wiped blood from his lip, his muscles tensing. He couldn't afford to waste time. If this truly was the space between dimensions, he had to find a way back before Tenka overwhelmed him.
His Abyss Eye pulsed.
For a brief moment, the void revealed itself to him—not as an endless darkness, but as threads of existence woven between worlds. If he could understand them, maybe he could break free.
Tenka noticed the shift in Shin's expression and smirked. "You see it now, don't you? The Void does not bind—it liberates."
"Shut up."
Shin launched forward, faster than before. His katana clashed against Tenka's bare hand, but instead of stopping the attack, Tenka absorbed the force. Abyssal energy coiled around Shin's blade, twisting it like a serpent before shattering the steel into fragments.
Shin's eyes widened. His katana—his weapon, his anchor—was gone.
The abyss surged.
Tendrils wrapped around him, dragging him deeper into the void. He struggled, but they tightened, pressing against his skin, seeping into his veins like living shadows.
A voice whispered in his mind. Become one with us.
For the first time in years, doubt crept into Shin's heart. The weight of the abyss was suffocating, drowning him in an overwhelming nothingness. Memories flickered through his mind—his time in the Land of Iron, his battles, his comrades. Hana's voice, calling out to him. He could barely remember what her face looked like.
Was he disappearing?
"Shin!"
A new voice cut through the void like a blade.
His vision snapped into focus.
A hand reached out from the darkness, grabbing his wrist.
Hana.
She was there—standing at the edge of the abyss, her chakra flaring brilliantly against the darkness. She wasn't supposed to be here, but Shin didn't care. She was real. She was his anchor.
"Hana…?" His voice was hoarse.
"You idiot," she said, pulling him forward. "You're not dying here."
Strength surged through him.
With a roar, Shin wrenched himself free from the abyss's grasp, his Abyss Eye igniting with newfound clarity. The tendrils recoiled, and the darkness trembled as Shin's will pushed against it.
Tenka's smirk faded. "Interesting…"
Shin clenched his fists. He had spent so long fearing the Void, resisting its call. But now, he understood—he didn't need to reject it. He needed to master it.
The Abyss Eye burned brighter.
A blade of pure energy formed in his hands, forged from his own will. Unlike before, this wasn't a katana made of steel. It was an extension of himself, a weapon that no void could destroy.
Tenka's expression darkened. "So, you choose to walk the line between existence and oblivion."
Shin leveled his blade at him. "I choose to finish this."
The void shuddered.
Shin moved, faster than ever before. His blade met Tenka's darkness, and the realm itself fractured under the impact.
The abyss roared, and the battle for control began.
