Chapter 13 - Abandoned

This pressure…

Honestly, I have to admit, I knew that the pressure from above the sky indicated he was a top-level cultivator.

Judging from the actions of this high-level cultivator, I could tell he didn't really intend to attack.

Instead, I thought maybe this cultivator only intended to pass through Jinshi School?

Either way, the fact that this high-level cultivator had no intention of stopping was undeniable.

Just from that alone, I knew I wasn't required to act upon what was happening.

Without delay, I noticed Wang Ying and Sun Xinxin had paused their fight.

I don't know why, but I thought they could sense the pressure from that top-level cultivator.

Just look at their expressions—both Wang Ying and Sun Xinxin were visibly alert.

From their perspective, they knew that a high-level cultivator was an incredibly terrifying being.

But why? What reason did this cultivator have for passing through Jinshi School?

Surely, someone at that level could leave without ever revealing their presence.

But this person… he was completely different from how others would behave.

"Void Returning... He's truly a Void Returning Stage expert! What's really going on?" murmured the students around me. They had no idea why such a powerful expert would pass through their school.

Deep down, they were terrified of the possibility that the Void Returning cultivator might destroy them.

Luckily, they realized that this cultivator had no intention of killing anyone.

Even though his aura suggested he was furious at what had happened.

But about what? They had no idea what could have provoked the cultivator's anger.

Still, one thing was certain—they knew they weren't the target of that fury.

That alone allowed them to ease their fears.

For a moment, I saw Wang Ying and Sun Xinxin visibly let go of their hostility.

I don't know why, but I felt they had no further intention of causing trouble.

"Fine. I'm leaving. But don't think you'll escape next time. I will get my revenge!"

"Hmph. Disgusting woman… This is your fault. You were the one who accepted my challenge. Don't try to make it seem like it's mine."

In the end, I saw Wang Ying walking away from the crowd of students.

Sun Xinxin did the same, leaving me truly alone.

Even so, I was actually grateful that these two women decided to cast me aside.

That way, I wouldn't be dragged into their conflict any longer.

Unfortunately, just as I was about to walk into the school building—

I suddenly felt someone yank my hair from behind, for no apparent reason.

When I turned around, I saw a gray-haired man standing there.

It was true. That man was none other than Chu Feng.

"Where do you think you're going? We still have unfinished business. Now that your protectors are gone, I think it's time we settle things."

"You… huh? Zhang Hao? What did you do to him?" I asked, unable to stop myself as my eyes fell on a man lying on the ground.

Just look—Chu Feng was now dragging Zhang Hao's body across the dirt.

This guy…

Isn't this a bit too much? Whatever.

Maybe it was fine? Was it really okay for Chu Feng to drag Zhang Hao like that?

But judging by Chu Feng's expression, he clearly didn't care.

"Han Li… you have to run… he's not someone you can fight. Get out of here… or you'll get hurt."

Honestly, I had to admit, I knew Zhang Hao was trying to convince me to leave.

But I didn't care—I just kept staring at his beaten-up condition.

Eventually, I turned my gaze to a girl standing beside Chu Feng.

If I remembered correctly, she was one of Zhang Hao's childhood friends.

Still, the fact that she was the one who slapped him earlier couldn't be denied.

And sure enough, what I was thinking turned out to be true.

I could tell from Wu Xuanxuan's expression that she didn't care about Chu Feng's actions.

On the contrary, she looked like she fully supported him beating up her childhood friend.

Just from that, I knew Wu Xuanxuan had fallen into Chu Feng's hands.

And as for Zhang Hao, he had truly been abandoned by his childhood friend.

Even the look in Zhang Hao's eyes—he no longer had the will to live.

If he wanted to, he could've jumped into the depths of the sea.

But he knew, deep down, that he couldn't act like his life was already over.

Suddenly, Zhang Hao looked at me as I slightly reached out my hand to him.

At first, Zhang Hao refused my help.

But for some reason, when I showed a serious expression—

He began to think: could he possibly trust me?

Without hesitation, Zhang Hao began to accept my help.

As I helped him up, I saw Chu Feng preparing to strike me.

Of course, in just a fraction of a second, I managed to dodge Chu Feng's punch.

Even Chu Feng himself couldn't believe what he just saw.

Unexpectedly, I saw a trace of nervousness flash across Chu Feng's face.

I don't know why, but Chu Feng seemed to hallucinate—he thought he saw a giant hand hovering over my shoulder.

If he recalled correctly, he had no idea why he sensed such danger coming from me.

"Let him go. Show some mercy. You're the one who started this fight, so I want you to know that Zhang Hao has nothing to do with it."

"Nothing to do with it? What do you know? I've known him since middle school. You don't know what kind of person he really is. You're just looking at the surface."

"Hah…" For a moment, I couldn't help but let out a soft sigh.

I understood what Chu Feng was trying to say.

Clearly, Chu Feng wanted to humiliate Zhang Hao in front of me.

In truth, I knew what Chu Feng wanted—he was trying to brainwash me.

If he succeeded in making me believe that Zhang Hao was a bastard, I wouldn't be able to defend him.

But what of it? The fact that I had no intention of trusting Chu Feng was undeniable.

After all, the fact that Chu Feng had the nerve to steal Zhang Hao's childhood sweetheart couldn't be overlooked.

Maybe that's why—there's no way I could believe anything Chu Feng said.

Without a word, I slowly raised my index finger upward.

And a moment later, I saw Chu Feng's nose begin to bleed.

Drip—

Even Wu Xuanxuan couldn't believe it—was it really possible for someone like me to hurt Chu Feng?

"Chu Feng?! Are you okay? No way… you're actually injured!"

"This… how did you… Ugh!"

In less than a few seconds, I saw Chu Feng cough up a mouthful of blood.

The students standing just outside the school courtyard had also begun to watch my actions against Chu Feng.

At first, they thought there was no way someone like me could hurt him.

But who would've thought? Someone like me actually managed to wound Chu Feng.

"What?! The son of the Chu family? He's injured? How is that possible? Didn't he enter this school with a spiritual energy level of 499?"

"Who is that guy? Have we ever heard of him before? I don't think he's strong at all…" whispered the students, knowing full well that Chu Feng's spiritual energy was close to the Core Formation Realm.

And yet, they still didn't understand how I was able to injure him.
