Chapter 3 - Chapter 3, An Encounter with Houtu

Bai Jin followed Wudang Saint towards the depths of the mountain range, walking and walking until they reached the edge of a cliff, watching the clouds churn below.

Bai Jin respectfully said: "Sister, do you have any instructions for me?"

Wudang Saint patted Bai Jin's shoulder and chided: "We are all fellow disciples from the same sect, why so formal? Keep this up and your sister here will get angry, you know!"

Bai Jin scratched his head and said with a silly grin: "Alright."

Wudang Saint sat cross-legged on a green stone and said: "I remember your old home was something like this too, nestled within the clouds."

Bai Jin blinked, that was something related to his past life as the White Crane. What does that have to do with me, Bai Jin?

Bai Jin sat beside her, curiously asking: "Sister, why do you think Master took me as his disciple? My aptitude is not good, and compared to the two elder brothers and sister, the difference is like heaven and earth. I'm just an Outer Disciple after joining; I'm really puzzled why Master would take me in at that time?"

Wudang Saint looked at Bai Jin with an odd expression and said: "You don't know?"

Bai Jin shook his head.

Holding back a smile, Wudang Saint said: "Master's original intention of taking you in was to serve as his mount."

Bai Jin exclaimed in shock: "What? A mount?"

Wudang Saint nodded and said: "That was the original plan, but later on, Master said the Bai He is not steady enough, nor commanding enough."

Bai Jin quickly asked: "Sister, does Master still have this intention now?"

Laughing, Wudang Saint said: "That, I do not know."

Bai Jin immediately got up and flew outside.

Wudang Saint hurriedly called out: "Junior brother, where are you going?"

"To find a mount for Master," Bai Jin's voice came from afar.

It's already embarrassing enough to be a transmigrator and become a Registered Disciple; if I were to stoop to being a mount, would I have any dignity left as a transmigrator? I've decided, this time I must find a mount for Master. No, I must consider the two elders as well - what if they take a liking to me too? A handsome White Crane like me is rare in the Primordial World.

...

Between the vast Heaven and Earth, all things are desolate, above the Primordial World is the Nine Heavens Demon Court, below is the Witch Clan dominating, with demons ruling the sky and witches the land, ceaseless in battle.

Dressed in green, Bai Jin walked between the wild lands, where lush trees and Exotic Beasts abounded. With a slap, he killed a mosquito the size of a sparrow, looking around with a hint of confusion in his eyes.

Bai Jin had made detailed plans before heading out; the Primordial World had countless Innate Spiritual Treasures during its inception, most of them with masters already. But there is one place Bai Jin remembered where an Innate Spiritual Treasure still lay hidden - the Treasure Money in Wuyi Mountain, destined to shine in the Divine Enthronement Battle of the future. With the Treasure Money in hand, would he still fear a lack of treasures?!

Bai Jin's main purpose for coming out this time was to plot for the Treasure Money and incidentally, to also find the Da Hong Pao Mother Tree in Wuyi Mountain, then show off his tea-brewing skills to Master and the Uncles. Master and Second Master might not appreciate it, but Eldest Uncle surely would. Then, when the Divine Enthronement Battle comes, one can anticipate Eldest Uncle would show mercy. The depth of the planning is breathtaking, hitting two birds with one stone, the thought alone is delightful *^O^*.

However, after leaving Kunlun Mountain and wandering around in the vast Heaven and Earth, Bai Jin realized an important problem – he seemed to have lost his way! ⊙﹏⊙

Bai Jin walked through the forest, his mind a haze, where was Wuyi Mountain again?! His plans were rattling around in his head, even considering the possibility of being intercepted by Witch Demons, but as soon as he left the mountain, he couldn't find his bearings at all.

He could only keep moving forward in one direction, flying over mountains and rivers, passing through clouds and chasing the moon. This trek lasted a month. Time in the Primordial World is different from his previous life; a huge day here is four thousand three hundred and eighty hours, making a month here equivalent to thirty years in his past life. All life here is born divine, which is not improper.

...

In the darkness, Bai Jin stood atop a mountain, looking down at the twinkling lights within the ridges, and joyously said, "There's fire, could there be living people?"

He immediately dove towards the location. If he could meet a benign great power, that would be good, and he could ask for directions. As for little monsters and demons, he had passed by more than he'd eaten rice.

Next to a river, a bonfire blazed fiercely with a beast's leg roasting above it. Sitting beside the bonfire was a woman in a yellow Immortal Robe, looking noble and luxurious.

Bai Jin descended from the sky, his Daoist robe fluttering elegantly. By appearance alone, he exuded an extraordinary bearing, and he gave a respectful bow, saying, "Bai Jin of Kunlun Mountain pays respects to Fellow Daoist."

The woman looked up at Bai Jin, chuckled softly, and said warmly, "If I remember correctly, Kunlun Mountain is the cultivation abode of The Three Pure Ones. What is your relationship with them?"

Bai Jin was overjoyed inside, knowing my Master, that will make things easier, and he quickly said, "My Master's Taoist name is Tongtian."

The woman smiled and said, "So you are his disciple. Come, take a seat!"

"Many thanks, senior."

Bai Jin walked over and sat opposite her, asking, "May I know how the senior is addressed?"

The woman glanced at Bai Jin and said, "Houtu!"

Whoosh~ Bai Jin suddenly stood up, his eyes instantly bulging, Houtu? Is my luck too good or too bad? He quickly gave another bow, excitedly saying, "I pay my respects to the Great Compassion, the Great Mercy of Lady Earth~"

A flash of surprise crossed Houtu's eyes as she laughed and said, "Great Compassion, Great Mercy? You are the first to bestow me with this title. Shouldn't the world remember me as the battle-hungry Ancestor Witch Houtu?"

Bai Jin respectfully said, "Ancestor Witch Houtu's combat prowess is unmatched in the Primordial World, but what truly impresses me is your Holy Mother's heart of compassion."

Houtu revealed a slight smile and said, "An interesting lad, sit down!"

"Yes~" Bai Jin honestly took his seat opposite Houtu.

After a quiet moment, Bai Jin curiously asked, "Holy Mother, is this where the Witch Clan's tribe is located?"

"No."

"Then why is Holy Mother here?"

Houtu revealed a gentle smile and said, "This is the world created by Father God, and I wish to see it thoroughly." Her expression shifted as she spoke, "Little fellow, what do you think of this world?"

Bai Jin couldn't help but tease, "I look with my eyes, of course!"

Houtu paused, then chuckled, saying, "An amusing little devil!"

She picked up a stick in her hand and poked at the fire, saying, "Father God created this world. The oceans are vast, the mountains and rivers are beautiful. I have almost traveled through most of it, and something faintly stirs in my heart. Everything seems perfect, yet there seems to be something amiss, but I can't quite put my finger on it."

Now he has already sensed something lacking in Heaven and Earth? Bai Jin opened his mouth but, in the end, didn't say anything. He was still a minor figure; he could go with the flow, but if he revealed the matter of reincarnation prematurely and caused significant changes, it was nothing someone as insignificant as he could withstand.
