Magic elements detected—world transformation in progress!
[The power of magic is truly fascinating!]
Congratulations! You have unlocked the Plant Magic mod!
New plants have been added to the world!
The Tinkers' Construct mod has changed! Yang Tao looked at the new mod and instinctively patted his liver to make sure it was still there.
"Another magic mod?! This is way too grindy!"
Magic mods always put a strain on your liver!
Yang Tao teleported out of the dungeon and saw mysterious flowers growing all over the grassy field outside. These were part of a plant magic system and served as the key to unlocking plant-based spells.
Sigh—if I can't escape it, I might as well grind it out. After collecting a large number of mysterious flowers in various colors, he returned home. These flowers were easy to find everywhere, so there was no need to gather too many. If he ever ran out, he could always speed up their growth himself.
Sitting on the couch, he opened the chat group and saw everyone casually chatting. He realized he hadn't been active in the group for days!
Yang Tao: "How's everyone doing lately? I'm so bored! Maybe I should drop by and visit you guys?"
Whitebeard: "Haha! If you want to come, just do it! We can throw a banquet!"
Yang Tao: "Nah, forget it. Old man Whitebeard, your place is even more boring than mine! Just floating around at sea all day, nothing ever changes."
Whitebeard: "…."
Yang Tao: "@Zhang Qiang, why haven't I seen you talk lately?"
Zhang Qiang: "Boss, all I do these days is check in and train. Things are getting too dangerous over here—I keep feeling like supernatural incidents are happening more often! I just want to level up my cultivation so I can protect myself."
Yang Tao: "Want me to come over and check it out? To be honest, I'm really curious about all this supernatural stuff."
Zhang Qiang: "Sure, Boss! You can come anytime."
After closing the chat, Yang Tao started preparing for his trip to Zhang Qiang's world.
Since it was a supernatural world, he decided not to wear his quantum armor. He stored it in his backpack just in case and instead pulled out materials dropped by a previous boss. He headed to the Infusion Altar and started crafting gear from Thaumcraft.
Using the materials he had collected, he began forging a full set of Void Thaumaturge armor.
"A mage should look like a mage! I can't just rely on a simple light spell!"
After putting on his gear, he checked himself out. His outfit gave off a dark necromancer vibe—his hooded face shrouded in shadow, his body constantly radiating a strange, twisting light.
Nodding in satisfaction, he grabbed his gear and teleported to Zhang Qiang's supernatural world.
As he stepped through the portal, he saw Zhang Qiang staring at his computer, checking something. Hearing the sound, Zhang Qiang turned around and greeted him.
"Boss, you're here? Wait—weren't you all about high-tech stuff? Why do you look like a mage today?"
Last time Yang Tao visited, he had been wearing high-tech battle armor, which Zhang Qiang had been pretty jealous of.
"I'm a jack-of-all-trades, I dabble in a bit of everything. What are you working on?"
Zhang Qiang explained, "I joined the Supernatural Investigation Bureau. Right now, I'm checking the internal database for recent supernatural cases. There's a village that's been experiencing strange events—anyone who goes there never comes back!"
Yang Tao's curiosity was immediately piqued, and he started looking into it as well.
In County J, a small village had been covered in thick fog for days. No matter how strong the wind was, the fog never dispersed. Ever since the fog appeared, the village had been completely cut off from the outside world. And anyone who went in… never returned.
Yang Tao adjusted his nonexistent glasses and said, "There's only one possible explanation—the people inside are already dead!"
Based on his years of experience reading supernatural novels, the people in the village were most likely all dead. But if they entered the village, they'd probably find everyone acting like normal humans—only under certain conditions would they transform into undead beings.
Zhang Qiang, seeing how confident he was, believed him without question. After all, the Boss had left a strong impression on him from the very beginning.
"Boss, want to go check it out? County J is really close—it's just over an hour's drive from here!"
Since he was looking up incidents within his city and nearby areas, it made sense that the village was so close.
Yang Tao nodded.
"Alright, let's go. I'm bored anyway."
They got into Zhang Qiang's car and drove straight to County J. In less than an hour, they arrived at their destination.
Looking ahead, they saw a thick wall of fog—it was like an invisible barrier had been placed there. On their side, everything was perfectly clear, but past the fog, visibility dropped to zero.
The area was already cordoned off with warning tape. As they approached, two guards stepped forward.
"Sorry, this area is sealed off. No entry allowed!"
Zhang Qiang took out his paranormal bureau ID and handed it over. After checking it, the other person stepped aside without saying a word.
As they approached the edge of the mist, Yang Tao curiously examined it. He reached out his hand, but the mist seemed to have a life of its own, moving away from his arm.
Zhang Qiang asked, "Leader, do you see anything?"
Yang Tao didn't actually know much about the paranormal. Most of what he knew came from novels, but he couldn't let the new group members think he was clueless.
With a serious expression, he said, "It might be some kind of barrier! There's probably something powerful inside!"
Total nonsense! But Zhang Qiang believed it.
"Stay here and don't move. I'll check it out!" Yang Tao, feeling confident in his abilities, decided to go in. He had already set up a teleportation point, so if anything went wrong, he could escape instantly.
He took out a new staff and walked into the mist. The mist parted, clearing a path for him.
Before long, Yang Tao reached the village. There was no mist inside, just a thick layer covering the entire village like an upside-down bowl.
He continued walking toward the village center and soon heard voices.
Following the sound, he saw a large group of people gathered, though he couldn't tell what they were doing. When they noticed him, they all turned to look at him at the same time.
Yang Tao tightened his grip on his staff, feeling tense.
"Is this it?" Based on experience, this was usually the moment when these so-called "villagers" would charge at him and tear him apart.
