After splitting up with the others, Yang Tao and Zhang Wenjing spent a little time at the pub before heading back to Diagon Alley.
"This pub is such a mess!" Zhang Wenjing muttered. And she wasn't wrong—the pub, built in the 16th century, still kept its old-fashioned style. It was dark, dirty, and crowded with people chatting loudly.
If you didn't look closely, you'd never guess that these were supposed to be elegant wizards.
Yang Tao just smiled and didn't comment.
Back at Gringotts, Yang Tao went straight up to a goblin. "Do you buy gold here?"
The goblin eyed Yang Tao up and down. "Of course, sir!" he said enthusiastically, leading him to a counter.
Pounds couldn't be exchanged in large amounts, but gold—being a valuable resource in both the Muggle and wizarding worlds—had no such restrictions.
After exchanging a large amount of Galleons, Yang Tao left the bank, holding a bag enchanted with an Undetectable Extension Charm, courtesy of the goblins.
"Wenjing, do you think I got ripped off?" Yang Tao asked.
"Probably! Those greedy little creatures!"
"Eh, whatever. We'll deal with it later." Yang Tao shrugged, pretending not to care.
He had enough gold to fill Diagon Alley, but that didn't mean he'd let anyone take advantage of him.
Looking around at the endless shops, Yang Tao wasn't sure what to buy. Then he noticed a group of kids gathered around a store window. Curious, he walked over to see what they were staring at.
It was a Nimbus 2000!
Back when he read Harry Potter, he had always wanted an owl and a Nimbus 2000.
Stepping into the shop, he realized this was the most modern-looking store he had seen in the wizarding world so far. It wasn't old-fashioned like the others—it actually had a design that felt closer to the modern era.
By 90s standards, this place was pretty trendy.
The shop assistant saw someone enter and immediately stepped forward with enthusiasm. "Sir, are you looking to buy a flying broom? Our newest model, the Nimbus 2000, is very popular this year. You should take a look!"
Yang Tao looked at the Nimbus 2000 and felt a spark of excitement. As he ran his fingers over the broom, he couldn't help but exclaim, "This is amazing! By the way, can Muggles use flying brooms?"
The assistant was stunned for a moment before replying, "I'm very sorry, sir, but all official models of flying brooms require magic to operate."
Yang Tao had already expected this answer, but the phrase "official models" caught his attention. Did that mean there were unofficial ones that could be used?
"So, are there unofficial models that work?"
The shop assistant glanced at Yang Tao. "Sir, please follow me."
Yang Tao was familiar with this kind of situation. The assistant was probably going to lead him to a hidden corner or a secret room, bring out some illegal flying brooms, and sell them to him at a higher price.
Confident in both his skills and his wallet, he followed the assistant without hesitation. The assistant walked up to a door and said, "Please, come in, sir."
Ha! Just as I thought! Yang Tao stepped inside along with the assistant, but instead of a shady little room, he found himself in another shop right next door.
This shop was also filled with flying brooms, but they were noticeably smaller—some much, much smaller.
"Sir, these magic brooms don't require magic to operate. They can fly up to two meters high, come with full protective charms, and have a stable, safe speed. Plus, one charge lasts for a whole month!"
Yang Tao looked at the brooms on the wall with an awkward expression. At that moment, Zhang Wenjing couldn't hold back anymore. "Hahaha! Don't worry, I'll buy one for you! I'll handle the charging! Hahaha!"
Zhang Wenjing was laughing so hard that he could barely stand.
Yang Tao felt incredibly embarrassed because he had just noticed the descriptions on these flying brooms.
"Suitable for ages 3 to 9. Safety guaranteed!"
Without another word, he gave a quick nod to the shop assistant and hurriedly dragged Zhang Wenjing out of the store.
"You know, you could actually buy one. I can take you flying!" Zhang Wenjing said to Yang Tao.
Yang Tao scoffed, "If I have to rely on you to fly, I might as well fly by myself! Where's the fun in that?"
As they kept walking, Yang Tao suddenly thought he heard Zhang Wenjing say something. He turned around and asked, "Did you just say something?"
Zhang Wenjing waved his hand. "Nope, you must have misheard."
Yang Tao didn't think much of it and continued exploring the magical little alley.
