Sin spent the rest of the day thinking over methods he could possibly use to get money.
As he did this, his consciousness started to slowly fade into a deep slumber.
Before he fully knocked out, however, he generated a few ideas in his mind. Selling beast materials was an obvious option.
But he didn't know just how difficult that process was. Not just killing the beasts—that was the part he was actually most familiar with—but actually selling—negotiating—and acquiring the beast parts in general.
Still, it was a potential path. Other paths included odd jobs, getting a normal one with handywork, or taking on quite high-paying quests.
Of course, that would also mean that the quest would be hard as hell...
And so, as he continued to think, he fell asleep. When he awoke the next day, he started his day off with a workout before freshening up and heading out.
Since he only had a couple more days to figure out a way to make money before he would get busy again, he wanted to use his time efficiently. It wasn't like he couldn't find out how to get money after this quest too.
But finding out before would be better, especially since he could use the money-making method in this quest coming up as well.
Either way, Sin decided that checking out the quests currently plastered on the guild's bulletin board was the first move of action.
Once he arrived at the guild, he took some time going over all of the quest posters. He shielded his face in his hood as he surveyed the posters, standing in between close to 50 other Hunter's standing all around him and murmuring away their problems to each other.
'Like I thought... the highest prized quests are B-Rank and above. B-Rank quests aren't easy. They take 10 B-Ranks to complete, or 3 A-Ranks along with a few backup healers. I'm C-Rank, and with a passive healing Spirit. Not the best combo for a difficult quest.'
He was disappointed, but had also expected this. As he continued to stand there, thinking of what to do next, he was distracted by a sudden tap on the back of the shoulder.
As soon as he felt this, his eyes narrowed with alertness as his brows scrunched inwards.
'Is it Agneil? I'll need to be ready to escape or fight here.' He could feel his heart beat slightly as he tensed up. He turned slowly, hiding his face under his hood.
To his surprise, however, Agneil wasn't behind him. Instead, it was a young man in his early thirties. He wore a butler's suit, and had a white glove on his right hand.
"Excuse me sir. Could you please make way for his lordship, Sir Surfin." The butler stood to the side, turning and gesturing to another butler behind him who looked nearly identical.
The butler in the back was wearing the same tux and white glove, except he was holding a crystal ball in his hand.
Sin raised a brow, 'Surfin? Where have I heard that name before?' Then, he suddenly realized, 'Surfin... Surfin!? According to that fatass, Agneil, the Surfin family are the lords of Solstar, right?'
"That's him?" Sin confusedly pointed at the glass orb.
"Hmhmhm." The butler in front of Sin chuckled, "Not quite. Since he is not available to come in person, he has come in the form of a crystal ball."
Sin found this concept quite interesting. When he looked around, he realized every other Hunter had already moved out of the way and made space.
He was the only fool who seemed to still be standing in the middle of the way.
He also walked to the side and stood there. The butler closed his eyes and nodded at Sin with a gracious smile before walking forward.
'Even the lord of the city has to choose quests all the same huh?' Sin looked at the crystal ball and the posters, 'Since he has all the money, and can also hire the strongest Hunter groups with ease, he will of course go for all of the most difficult quests with the highest prize pools. Lucky bastard... born in the spoils of his ancestors.'
But then, something happened that caught Sin's attention and made him question his logic a bit.
Instead of choosing a difficult quest, Lord Surfin's orb seemed to choose a D-Rank quest, an F-Rank, and two C-Ranks.
The other Hunter's didn't really pay attention, since it wasn't their business what the lord of the city did. However, Sin found this very intriguing.
'Hmm... it's definitely odd. My goal is to get rich, and I'm choosing from the highly dangerous and high-paying quests. Yet, the person who is actually the most rich is choosing the low-paying, easy quests. How... why? There's something here that isn't adding up.'
Sin found this so interesting, in fact, that he decided that he wanted to look into it a bit further.
'These rich bastards are getting their money in ways that no one else knows, and everyone's a fool to it. I'm gonna figure it out... and I'm gonna take advantage of whatever the hell they are taking advantage of.'
Exploits was something that always intrigued Sin. Ways to get ahead of others even when you shouldn't have the capacity to do so.
He went to the front desk and asked the person behind the counter if there was a way he could look into the Hunter Guild Quest database through a device instead of wanting to come in person.
"Yes... it's possible. However, I have to warn you, the online database for all Hunter Guild info is delayed by about a day. That's why you see most people coming to the actual guild in person and not purchasing from the online space."
Sin didn't have a problem with this: "That's okay. I'm not looking to buy. I just want to see some payment history."
...
Purchasing the device to look at the Hunter Guild database would usually cost a pretty penny. But for Sin who was already a Hunter, he got it for free.
