Chapter 9 - 9 You really don't know the value of things!

"My dashcam was on, and just so you know, I am a police officer!"

The woman who was wailing terribly earlier looked at Song Ye as he took out his police badge, paused for a moment, then closed her eyes and feigned fainting.

There was nothing Song Ye could do but to take out his phone and call the local police station and hospital.

Their car was stopped on the emergency lane, and not knowing the extent of the woman's injuries, Song Ye didn't dare to move her, fearing he might cause further harm.

He could only squat beside her, holding an umbrella over the old woman, and look around — the rainy weather had washed away most of the traces that could have been evidence.

Visibility was also very bad, and it was unclear if there were any cameras nearby that might have captured anything.

The police and ambulance arrived at the same time.

Even though the person who came was an old acquaintance of Song Ye, they still had to follow procedures, and Song Ye had to follow the police car off the highway at the nearest exit.

Yun Ran also followed into the police station for the second time, but this time, she wasn't the one being questioned, and was directly taken to the reception room by a lady officer.

Song Ye's reputation seemed to be well-known; most of the police here knew him.

The officers were polite, and this also improved Yun Ran's treatment.

The police lady not only prepared hot milk for Yun Ran but also fed her lots of snacks.

Ginsengfruit was somewhat envious: [It's a pity that although I am a biogenic System with the Five Senses, I cannot eat these, which is quite sad~]

Yun Ran paused for a moment with her hand; it was the first time she learned that the System had senses. She was always generous to her own people.

Why was she so poor back then? It was mainly because all her money was spent on buying Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures for her master and senior uncles; she was very generous.

"Do you want to taste it?"

Thinking of Yun Ran's capabilities, Ginsengfruit immediately perked up and nodded vigorously; it definitely wanted to taste.

Although it came from a High-class World, where people no longer cared about culinary pleasures and ate only medicine or Pills for perfect absorption of nutrients needed by the body.

"Wait, when I find the materials, I'll make a body for you so that you can also taste the delicacies of this world!"

[Host, you are the best, heartღ(´・ᴗ・`)]

Before finishing the snacks, Song Ye had already come out, looking at Yun Ran continuously eating like a squirrel, with the coffee table filled with snack bags, suddenly felt a headache.

"You really don't hold back at all."

Yun Ran patted her chest: "We are all on the same side; why be so formal? Besides, I'm not the kind who only takes advantage without giving back. I'll calculate for them later..."

Song Ye couldn't help but hold his forehead and interrupted Yun Ran's words: "Just calm down."

Was Yun Ran's fortune-telling accurate? So far, it seemed to be, but no one could guarantee there wouldn't be mistakes. Being a police officer, one had to ensure absolute accuracy.

Any slight error from Yun Ran would be intolerable, and to put it bluntly, Song Ye's trust in Yun Ran was limited.

It was okay to talk about it in private, but if others took it seriously and she got detained, that would be light.

Yun Ran wasn't annoyed either, finishing the last sip of milk, and then regretfully said, "My fortune-telling is worth its weight in gold, you really don't appreciate it!"

When they returned to Hai City, it was already dark. Song Ye had dropped Yun Ran off in the villa district of Southern City.

As soon as she got out of the car and was about to say something, Song Ye immediately stepped on the accelerator, and the car sped away.

Ginsengfruit almost burst into laughter: [I'm dying of laughter, Captain Song treats you like a dreadful calamity.]

Yun Ran: …

"Forget it, he doesn't appreciate it. When he needs me later, that's the time to make him realize that underestimating a prodigy of the Xuan Sect was the biggest mistake of his life!"

Yun Wan originally had a good mood, but upon seeing Yun Ran returning, her smile immediately collapsed, and she muttered softly: "Bad luck!"

However, because Yun Jinyang was there, Yun Wan behaved much better and didn't directly jump out to confront Yun Ran, fearing her big brother.

"Ranran is back."

The speaker was Yun Jinyang, who was looking at documents, also the future heir of the Yun Family.

The original host despised everyone from the Yun Family, except for this Yun Jinyang. In the memories of the original host, this big brother was truly very good and deserved her heartfelt respect.

But in fact, this elder son of the Yun Family had never really cared about the original host, treating her just as one might a pet.

The original host being a little burden had no harm or impact on him, so he naturally didn't mind giving a little kindness.

But no matter how you look at it, this kindness was genuine, albeit meager and not heartfelt.

Now that Yun Ran occupied the body of the original host, she naturally took on the entanglements as well.

Her attitude was also slightly better: "Big brother, you are back."

"This is a gift I bought for you."

According to tradition, as the legitimate inheritor, Yun Jinyang was supposed to accompany them to the ancestral rites, but he had gone abroad to deal with business a month ago and couldn't split himself in two.

Looking at the beautifully wrapped gift box in front of her, Yun Ran knew that the contents inside were the same as Yun Wan and Yun Qing's, differing only in color at most.

Yun Jinyang, this eldest son of the Yun Family, was very adept at handling social relationships, always treating his younger siblings equally.

The original host was blinded by Yun Jinyang's kindness, unable to see his true nature.

Despite seeming gentle and refined, he carried an inborn coldness and aloofness in his bones, a calm ruler and self-disciplined.

If you really pushed it, trying to seek any favor or affected his interests, it would be courting death.

"Thank you, big brother."

Yun Jinyang smiled slightly: "Glad you like it."

Though the box remained unopened, Yun Ran expressing her like for it didn't seem wrong to Yun Jinyang; the whole process was just a formality.

This was the social courtesy of the Yun Family's eldest son, never easily showing likes or dislikes.

"Big brother, I'm feeling a bit unwell, I'll go to my room first."

Saying that, Yun Ran took the gift box to the most remote room on the first floor.

Just as she pushed the door open, a red light invisible to the ordinary eye surged towards Yun Ran's face.

Yun Ran waved her bare hand, and the red light scattered.

"Life-taking Curse!"

After looking around, Yun Ran spotted a cloth doll directly facing the door. If she remembered correctly, this cloth doll was a birthday gift from her biological father for her 5th birthday, also her beloved Ah Bei Bei.

After quickly dismantling the cloth doll, she finally saw a copper coin meant for burial inside.
