"Why would I?"
That was Kyel's response to Megan's gaze—clearly referring to why he would go with her, especially after what had happened during her class earlier that day.
Kyel knew exactly what Megan wanted—particularly since he was the main cause of most of what was happening right now. He understood why she had come for him, but he planned to stall for time and had no intention of going with her willingly.
Megan kept her eyes on him, like a predator waiting for her prey to slip up. Her gaze occasionally dropped to his hands, which were dripping slightly with blood.
She ignored what he had just said and asked instead,
"What's wrong with your hands?"
Kyel replied,
"And why do you care? It's not like you're worried about me, are you?"
With a soft yet enchanting laugh, she said,
"Why are you acting like a child? Just answer the question I asked you!"
There was a tone of command in her voice, like she was issuing him a direct order.
