Chapter 18 - Thank You

After hearing Xiu Ying's long explanation, Aiko finally understood the general hierarchy of the Blessed Land of Isolation. But with this understanding came a question: Why? Why does this system exist? And for what reason does it exist?

Seeing that Aiko was about to open her mouth to ask, Xiu Ying then started to explain as her smile continued to grow, "Why? Why does this system exist? No need to ask this question, I will answer it now. But first, I shall explain what the building blocks used to create this system are. People born in the Blessed Land of Isolation are usually talented. Born with talents reaching many different fields. And when one is talented, one needs a place to call home." She continued, "What would this home be? What is a home? The understanding and interpretation of these words vary from one person to another, but the basic understanding would be a haven, where one could rest in peace and learn practice, and much more."

Xiu Ying then walked closer to Zixin; Aiko noticed this and wondered whether the topic would soon be related to Zixin. Xiu Ying smiled, "With talented people come new and old beliefs, and with new and old beliefs come unity. These people who believe about a certain point will come together, and with enough time, trust will be born, and with enough trust, a Bloodline will be born." Xiu Ying continued, "These Bloodlines will stand tall, with time, they will build up trust within the Land and build up power, eventually becoming a core pillar of the Land. The Longevity Bloodline was born like this, and many other Bloodlines were born the same way."

Xiu Ying stood right next to Zixin as she spoke, "It was always a normal choice for people to try and join a Bloodline, but all Bloodlines have their own unique set of criteria for choosing who would be allowed to join them. And one important factor that makes each Bloodline more special than they already are is the fact that each Bloodline holds a specialty, these specialties were also used as a core factor for the Bloodlines to choose what path they would specialize in when the system was born."

She then looked at Zixin, her smile growing by the second, "The creator of this system is Child Zixin. But please don't think that my dear brother and Child Zixin are in any way the same. Child Zixin was actively seeking out his goal, while my dear brother was slowly advancing. Setting this matter aside, you may be asking yourself: 'Why is this system being followed?'"

Xiu Ying then walked towards the Scholar, "Talent is a rather important part of our lives. Without talent, even if one had an ability, one's mind would go blank when trying to comprehend beyond the ability's general capabilities. And the talent that is being efficiently used by this system is called Decision Point. Once a native from this Land is put under certain circumstances, they will have a huge boost in thinking capabilities for a short period. This is our talent." She continued, "It is, of course, rather difficult to get a hold of this Decision Point, but this system can do it. By putting the scholars in a decision-making point, the talent activates; this sounds like an ability, right? Correct, it is one, a failsafe in case of the worst scenarios."

Xiu turned to observe Aiko's expression, but Aiko still seemed curious, as if the knowledge made her feel youthful. Xiu Ying's smile stopped widening as she spoke, "This Decision Point can only be utilized by scholars of the Myriad Golden Flower Academy. So, this is also why this Academy became a central area of influence. Either way, this is all the basic information about the system."

Hearing her, Aiko's eyes slowly went back to normal. Her smile was still there, but her excitement slowly dissipated. She then thanked Xiu Ying, "I am very grateful that you went out of your way to tell me all about this. Thank you."

Xiu Ying then replied, appearing friendly, "Don't mind it, trust shall be built upon knowledge."

As she heard this, a realization slowly kicked in within Aiko after she fully absorbed the information; it had nothing to do with Xiu Ying's reply but her explanation. Hmm? Child Zixin? And dear brother? If my guess is correct, Child Zixin should be Zixin when he was a child, but why does she call him Child Zixin and when she talks about or to Zixin, she simply calls him dear brother? Is this some sort of familial issue? I shouldn't get too into this; this is their problem, after all, but knowing the general information would always be good.

She continued her thought, Setting that aside, it was Child Zixin who made this system, and from the looks of it, he might have made it around when he was ten years old. Hmm… intriguing. This system certainly doesn't guarantee a promotion, it will always be through hard work. And a Bloodline promotion shouldn't guarantee that someone would be able to, for example, become a nurse the moment they join said Bloodline. And from the looks of things, only a generalist would bother to join other Bloodlines, since most people would probably be specialists who mastered a certain path. Then, the Longevity Bloodline is truly the perfect Bloodline for a generalist.

While Aiko was thinking, the Scholar went and thanked Xiu Ying, "Lady, I am thankful for your help; if it wasn't for you, I wouldn't have been promoted when the Lord tried to take the coin away."

"Don't mind it, my dear brother simply doesn't know what he should do, after all, you are going to become his underling. He probably doesn't even want one." Xiu Ying chuckled and explained it to her.

The Scholar nodded, and she went up to Zixin, also thanking him, "Lord, I am thankful for your help, after all, even though you tried to take my coin, you still gave it to me."

Zixin observed her expression for a bit but he still didn't speak.
