Chapter 20 - A Short Walk

Seeing how the current events were unfolding, Alice decided to step in. She walked forward, speaking with a calm voice, "Sigh, there is no point in letting such sadness continue. Come on now, I'm sure we can lighten up the mood. Oh, an idea came to mind. Zixin, have you heard about the Professor's newest creation? She calls it The Box of Mysteries."

Zixin, who was confused by the strangely familiar voice that he heard, snapped back to reality at Alice's words. He tried to think about the obvious option that Alice gave him, The Box of Mysteries… Why is she telling me this now? She probably wants to lighten up the mood, but I doubt that's her only motive. Do I go? Staying here would only make the current atmosphere worse, and I get nothing out of it. If I go, on the other hand, I will meet up with the Professor and see the Box of Mysteries, but is this enough of a reason to go?

Zixin decided that the latter was the better option despite not knowing the outcome of such a decision. He slowly stood up, suppressing all of his emotions with difficulty. He then started to leave the room, heading towards the Professor's residence.

Aiko, who saw this, thought to herself, Hmm… going with him would be like heading towards uncertainty, but staying with this group should be the smarter option. If I stay here, I will be able to converse with Xiu Ying, which would certainly be better; after all, I have already made useful relationships with Zixin. Deciding that staying was the better option, Aiko glanced at Zixin leaving before turning her attention back to the group.

Jinhua saw Zixin leaving so she decided to stay with the group. Jinhua still felt sadness, but she hoped that this group would alleviate it.

All who was bored and had her own set of plans decided to follow Zixin. In her point of view, The Box of Mysteries sounds more appealing than a tea party. As for how she ended up thinking that staying with this group would end with a tea party, she simply trusted her random guess.

Shing Xue, who was watching this all unfold, felt rather concerned for Zixin; after all, not only was she under him in the hierarchy, but she also just saw how the events unfolded right before her.

Xiu Ying, who saw Shing Xue's concern, spoke warmly, "Don't mind him, dear brother will certainly be… fine. Time heals everything, the pain from this will eventually be healed. Let us now enjoy ourselves, for this Bloodline Promotion deserves to be celebrated!"

While walking within the bustling streets of the Blessed Land of Isolation, All who was following Zixin finally caught up with him. She smiled as she laughed to herself, "I didn't expect you to bring a child here. Is that your preference?"

Zixin simply sighed; even though he rarely had any contact with All, he knew and understood her full character well. A self-absorbed person, or in other words, a narcissist. He turned to look at her stupid smile as he spoke, "Is a misunderstanding this easy for you to make?"

All simply laugh at it, saying, "No, it's all my Father's fault."

Zixin expected a similar answer so he wasn't that shocked. He then asked her, filled with curiosity, "That Prophecy, what is it about?"

All scoffed, saying in annoyance, "You mean The Prophecy of Naiba, right? What's the point of it? Nothing. I'm not even the main character. It was given to me yet not mine. Well, I suppose being the main character of that story sounds stupid, I mean, who wants that… end?" She continued, "Anyways, it was made by an ignorant fellow."

Ignorant fellow, huh? For some odd reason, this caught Zixin's attention. He set it aside for the time being. Zixin decided not to comment on it and continued to walk.

He observed the streets, seeing the road filled with carriages and the sidewalk with vendors selling all kinds of goods, from food to watches. He decided to buy one himself, but since he didn't have any money on him, he turned to All.

"Really? Are you that poor? You don't even keep any money with you? I mean, hmm… well, you could still keep some in your pockets, right? How did I become your moneyholder?" All sighed; she then waved her hand at the air, seemingly as though she was writing symbols within the air, and not too long after, a pouch appeared before her. She grabbed the pouch and put her hand inside the pouch, eventually taking out a money bag. She then gave the moneybag to Zixin.

Zixin nonchalantly walked towards a street vendor with an intent to buy some food. The vendor was a young man with white skin, brown hair, and black eyes. When the vendor saw Zixin, he smiled and invited him, "Dear Young Lord, coming all this way must be tiring. You didn't even use a carriage. Then let me invite you to have a taste of my goods."

The young man gestured towards his goods. The food sold was the usual street food that one would find everywhere within the Blessed Land of Isolation. They were spring-honored blossoms, heart-shaped everlasting drains… Zixin pondered over it before deciding to buy ten fortune flowers.

The fortune flowers were a type of bread made with easy-to-find ingredients. What was interesting about it was that each petal represent a random fortune, but most people wouldn't know the fortune. It is said that when one's fortune is constant, it means that said person is bound to find themselves in situations where opportunity is everywhere.

The young man thanked Zixin before he left. All followed Zixin and took seven fortune flowers. Zixin didn't mind it since he enjoyed the fortune flower. All, on the other hand, was confused after reading her fortune, "Huh? Why is my luck this bad? I mean, luck was never on my side so… which reminds me, uh… Sigh, whatever."

It didn't take long before they reached the residence. And once they reached it they were met with a Mansion. The pillars were thick and painted green, making it blend perfectly with the lush garden. The walls of the first floor barely had any windows while the second floor was filled with them.

They entered through the main entrance, the door opened on its own, a sign that they were welcome. They walked through the halls, which were filled with plants everywhere; there were even some animals around. They entered one of the rooms and saw the Professor. The Professor didn't notice them until they were three meters away.

The Professor noticed Zixin first so she spoke her greetings despite having her back against him, "Oh, didn't expect you here. Uh, good morning."

She then finally turned around, telling All, "Miss All, I have something that will need your help to do. Here is the task."

She handed All a piece of paper, and All, who was bored to death, decided to follow.

"So, I suspect you came here for The Box of Mysteries?" She asked him, appearing rather genuine.

"Before that, please do bother to clean this mess. How can you work with so many piles of trash?"

"It's normal, no need to worry."

"And your appearance, it's not presentable. For you to meet a guest while having such messy hair, your uniform is dyed with coffee traces." Zixin pointed out.

"You don't have to be so blunt, I know my flaws. But, do you know yours?"

Her words made Zixin stop; he asked her, "When I arrived, even though your words sounded as though you didn't expect me, your action and tone say otherwise. How did you know that I would come here?"

She then decided to fix her hair while listening to Zixin's words. Her long green hair gave the feeling of comfort. Her emerald green eyes were glimmering with potential. Her snow-white skin was delicate like morning dew. Her white clothes were now dyed brown, and her skirt dyed black. She wore no shoes or socks.

She then took out a box and showed it to Zixin, but it looked no different from any other box. She then said, "I knew because Xiu Ying sent me a letter yesterday."
