She wasn't shocked, with how fast their lovey dovey relationship has been she guessed as much. "Ex...." She couldn't help but reiterate. "This was a game of destruction all along." Her voice was so low like she just realized it. Her fingers dug into her hair, she felt like breaking something.
If Maybel was his ex it means she's the one who fed on someone's left over.
Henry calmed down instantly, he said too much already, it was easy for her to guess. "No... you."
"So I'm right." she spoke faintly, her fingers gripping the sheet right now. She just realized it and she realized it late. "Leave!"
Perhaps he was right, It was distance. Their distance was getting too much she didn't realize all this was a game.
He sighed heavily and frustratedly. His blue eyes lingered on her for a while before he walked out of the room.
Mariam's emotion got triggered as soon as he left. She screamed as she threw the pillow she was resting on across the room which broke a fragile glass in the process.
Feeling a little bit better after breaking something, she laid down, covering herself with the duvet. She cried her eyes out not minding who was around and hearing her cry. All her strong façade faded with the lights of their relationship.
Not too long after Henry left Nemah walked in. He knew fully well something horrible was going to happen after Thessa informed him she allowed the nurses to let him in.
His gaze at first landed on the broken glass at the corner of the room then the pillow on the ground, he walked over and picked it up before walking towards Mariam.
As soon as she sensed his presence, she pulled the blanket away and hugged him tight as he neared the bedside. Nemah was caught off guard with her hug. He gave in eventually and let her cry in his arms freely while he patted her back smoothly.
"Me and love don't get along, my second experience with love taught me another horrible lesson. I don't think I can do this anymore." She cried heavily, her tears wetting his clothes.
Nemah patted her hair. "Don't let them make you a monster, only monsters don't love."
She shook her head, crying harder. " He left me alone, he said it was my fault that I ruined our relationship because I was selfish and didn't satisfy his manly desires...*sobs*"
Nemah's face hardened as she spoke. He knew Henry wasn't the right man for her right from the start but at some point it changed when he saw how lovely and caring he was to her, so overprotective he had a change of mind about Henry. But now, that man will soon regret it.
"Hey, it's okay. You need to rest." He pulled her away slightly and she nodded, sitting and resting her back on the bed frame. He adjusted the blanket and covered her body properly. " You haven't eaten, have you?"
She shook her head. If it were another person she wouldn't even reply but Nemah, he had been her best friend right from childhood and she shared everything with him so did he.
Nemah sighed as his eyes scanned around the room, he noticed a white thick nylon with a brand name on it. She probably didn't even know when that was delivered or maybe she just left it there untouched.
He walked over and picked the food pack before handing it over to her. She shook her head again.
"It's no time to act stubborn Mimi, you have to eat something. If you don't, I won't take you home." He knew how much she hated the hospital and now he was using it against her.
Mariam took the food obediently and opened it before she started to eat. It was porridge and she disliked porridge but that dislike didn't reflect now that she wasn't in the mood.
After she ate, Nemah didn't take her home directly, instead he took her out. He was worried about leaving her alone in the house so she wouldn't do anything stupid.
"Where are we going?" She asked, her voice low.
He smiled, his focus still on the road. "Somewhere, let's go have some fun."
She knew she couldn't change his mind and let him be. "You don't expect me to go like this." She was still dressed the same as yesterday and she didn't like it.
"Don't act smart. You want me to take you home so you will refuse to step out." He smirked.
Her neutral face turned into a frown. " I need some alone time, Nemah. I've been craving for this moment so bad I just need some time for myself but having some drinks isn't bad, let me just change out of this dress I'm in."
There was a brief silence in the car before he shrugged. " If that's what you want. " He had a small smile playing at the corner of his lips.
Mariam stared blankly at the busy street as Nemah drove her home.
"Hurry." Nemeh said as she stepped out. "I'll wait here."
She gave a small nod before walking into the house. The maids were busying themselves with the sanitation of the environment. They had heard what happened to their boss so they prepared all her best dishes as instructed by Thessa.
"Welcome boss. The dishes have been served, are...
" Pack them all off my table...I don't care what you do with them!" She yelled as she walked up the stairs. After having a cool long bath, and letting all her tears out which rolled successively with the cold water, she finally changed into a black leather suit and wore a coat then put on some makeup.
Only when Nemah called her did she remember he was still in the car waiting, but when she peeped from the window she saw him resting his back on the car, definitely smoking with the movement of his hands.
Seeing this, she grabbed her mask and went downstairs. "You really aren't planning to suffocate me in this car while you drive right?" She eyed him.
"You were taking longer than expected, very sure you were crying your eyes out in your bathroom like a baby." He smirked, seeing she had the energy to scold him about smoking again.
She said nothing while they drove. "You shouldn't drink at the bar, I won't be around you much okay so you should be careful."
" Sure." She replied, staring blankly at the street.
The car stopped at BB crescent bar, a lot of celebrities show up here to have their breaks, the bar is popularly known for its confidentiality as it doesn't expose or leak videos on celebrities and their activities at the bar to the public.
"I just hope he isn't here." She said through gritted teeths.
Her eyes held like she was going to attack Nemah if Henry happened to be there as well.
"Be rest assured, he cares less about getting drunk." Mariam glared at him, of all people only he could easily taunt her with her miseries and act so innocent like his words held no weight. "Remember not to get drunk." He squeezed her shoulder gently with a small smile on his face and then walked away.
Mariam breathed, putting her phone on silent. She pulled off her coat and walked into the bar. Now that her coat was off, she was dressed her body shape was fully revealed thanks to the suit which hugged her body tightly.
The bar was noisy as expected, with red blue and purple lights. Although not many people were in there, the noise was something else. She walked to the bar attendant,a lady with a dark red lip tint and a thick gloss layered atop of it.
"You've got some whiskey in there? Give me a shot." She ordered while she sat she studied her environment, everyone was busy with their lives with smiles on their faces.
She gulped the whole content the moment it was served and pushed it over for another round. At this moment all she wanted was to get her mind off Henry, for her body to have a moment of peace and for her to feel like the strong Mariam she was before.
She wanted to get drunk but the thought of having something to consider in there made her unsure about it. She hissed deep inside, feeling miserable as hell.
"Where's the restroom?" She asked after collecting her card back which she used for the payment.
"To the left," the bartender replied.
Mariam immediately grabbed her purse and phone and headed in the right direction. She hadn't walked far when she collided with a bartender carrying a tray filled with glass cups and a wine jar.
Thankfully the man was able to save the most important wine jar but the glass cups fell and shattered instantly. Her dress was stained with the leftover wine in the cups, she had to get herself cleaned up.
"I-I am..so so sorry for this mess. Take my card, I'll compensate for this later. Just a minute and I'll be back."
" Ma'am you can't leave without paying for this." The man replied rudely, grabbing her arm as she aimed to step away.
One thing Mariam didn't like was embarrassment and that's what he was about to cause. This caught the attention of everyone watching, at that same moment on the fourth floor, an important meeting had just ended.
