The familiar metallic gray SUV moved with subtle noise like usual. It slowed down before the heavy gate, and only continued on its way when the courtyard beyond became totally visible. It moved to the garage beside the main building of the same white color, and stopped in front of it.
The door on the driver's side went up, and Daemon stepped down. He didn't turn back to the car which had remained unscathed even after the accident it had been through, and walked unhurriedly toward the house. He unlocked the door, and pushed it in to step foot into the dimly lit living room.
The lights responded to the ripples sent around by his movements, and turned bright to illuminate the interior better, shining on the immobile shadow that had been inside too.
Daemon's expression didn't change, even as he swept his eyes around. He seemed not to see the woman restlessly standing up from her crouched position in the kitchen, and ignoring her, he walked to the flight of stairs.
