The coolness of the water on his face interrupted Daemon's recollection. He looked calm, unlike the day Evelyn had been kidnapped. He showed no sign of anger, no sign of disappointment or hatred. He looked calm, but it was that appearance which, while not being unnerving as it should have been, was so chilling.
That calm did not even seem like the calm before the storm, and that was the problem. A storm was strong, but reckless and transient, while that which was normal was there to stay, and to engulf everything.
