Chapter 12 - 12

Touki knew there was a risk of something bad happening to him in the capital, but what he didn't expect, however, was that his house was invaded while he was sleeping. This undoubtedly ended up ruining all his plans. While Touki always had contingency plans for all kinds of situations, the nighttime attack took him completely by surprise.

The presence of multiple alarms was key to Touki and Suki's reaction to the attackers, completely reversing the element of surprise. The girl behaved like a true warrior by effectively neutralizing her enemy, while Touki went straight for the heads of his two guests. The first of them, wearing a dog mask, was immediately decapitated, but the second proved to be a real surprise by reacting to the attack, using his companion as a shield, and then counterattacking with shurikens and kunai, which were repelled by Touki's armor shields.

From that moment on, Touki's armor proved crucial in the fight against the man in the cat mask, absorbing attacks and granting Touki the ability to attack with extreme speed due to the amplification of his arms, though he was nearly broken in the process. The result was a rather powerful assailant reduced to a limbless hulk.

That was the only positive aspect of the assault for Touki: the opportunity to test his latest artifacts under realistic conditions. Needless to say, it was a success, although the program to enhance physical abilities can be quite dangerous if not used carefully. During the most intense moment for Touki, he overexerted his arms, causing injuries to several muscles and ligaments. Fortunately, the armor's new capabilities allowed his wounds to heal completely in a matter of hours.

The sword used during the confrontation is the latest innovation Touki could create, initially conceived for use in tight spaces, but which ultimately ended up being a superior weapon in every way, consisting of an ordinary blade, but with a program capable of storing energy, compressing it on the blade's edge and discharging it at supersonic speeds. The elements used are a mixture of wind, electricity and fire, which for some reason end up generating an attack in a spectrum of light imperceptible to the common eye and without emanating heat.

The end result was a massacre Touki never planned, and the possibility that he'd end up being investigated by people he'd so far tried to keep off the radar. To the man's chagrin, he had no choice but to abandon the capital.

Touki has always been a man of quick and decisive actions, so it was no surprise that the day after the incident, and after a quick visit to the bank to withdraw his accumulated money, the man and Suki left the capital without looking back, and without even getting a means of transportation, which was only solved later, when they bought a cart in a town.

Suki was the most affected by the sudden escape from the city, already accustomed to life there and with many acquaintances and friends, but she didn't hesitate for a moment to follow her teacher, to whom she owes much more than her life. The girl was the only one able to calm Touki's paranoia once they were far from the city. The two spent some time traveling north with no apparent destination, stopping occasionally in villages along the way, but it was when they were about to reach the land of rice that they stopped in a village to truly rest.

For a full month, Touki did nothing but rest and meditate, not even resuming his research, spending nights wide awake, simply watching the candles go out while his mind contemplated important decisions to be made.

A month later, Touki had a long conversation with Suki, where for the first time since they'd been together, he asked her opinion on the plans he had for both of them, plans that were quite ambitious and filled with potential conflicts with all kinds of enemies. The girl cried, not out of sadness, but rather out of happiness at the trust the man had placed in her, and without hesitation, she swore to follow him until he fulfilled his ambitions, because she would be nothing without him. That day, Touki's smile was one of the most sincere he'd had since he came into this world.

Touki's plans are complicated and depend on many factors, but they're based on the premise that he feels strong enough to start making some changes in the world, or at least try to change small things within his limited capabilities. The great advantage he has is his knowledge of the great plot of this world, as well as the destiny of many of its inhabitants, especially in Konoha. For Touki, it's time to stop hiding and start seeing if he can do something to improve the world, or at least prevent it from becoming worse than the original story ended up being, especially for ordinary people.

Touki hasn't stopped being someone more interested in himself than in others, but part of him really wants to see if he can do something, and he also has a serious urge to ruin the plans of many of the story's villains. After all, Touki was a true fan of the Naruto manga and anime in his past life, so he can't help but empathize with many of the characters.

Touki has planned a route with Konoha as his final destination, but first he must pass through a specific place to see if he can find a person very important to his future plans, someone who right now should be suffering something she doesn't deserve.

[Suki]

Suki's posture is firm, her breathing is deep, and her state of mind is as relaxed as it gets. Positioned in a clearing in the middle of a forest, the girl awaits her master's instructions.

"Begin" says her master's voice, which seems to be more than fifty meters away from her, according to her ears.

Suki immediately performs a series of hand seals at high speed, takes a deep breath and ends up expelling a large amount of mist from her mouth, and then, under the protection of the mist, activates a small cylindrical device hanging from her neck, which then expels even more mist, this time with a density that really would not allow anyone inside the mist to see absolutely anything.

"Don't stop, keep going for a while longer"

Suki continues activating the device for almost a minute, and the fog eventually extends almost two kilometers in all directions. Although no one would be able to see in such a situation, for the girl it doesn't represent anything very different from her usual state of blindness.

"Okay, can you detect me?" the man asks.

Suki's ears easily detect her master's footsteps, as he clearly begins to walk in circles, lost in the fog.

"No problem" Suki replies.

"Okay, now put on your mask and headphones. Activation is similar to the fog artifact, but remember to activate the headphones first"

Suki proceeds to put the artifacts on her head, both are made of chakra metal according to her master, a quite rare and expensive material, so she is very careful when handling them. When she activates the headphones, the girl can feel that her ears are capable of hearing sounds she had never heard before, something that was always there, but that for the first time she can feel it. But it is when she activates the mask that everything transforms for Suki, as she can clearly perceive how the mask emits strange pulses that only her ears can perceive, something that disorients her greatly.

"Master, I don't know what's happening, but I feel overwhelmed by the strange sensations around me" says the girl.

"It must be normal. What you're hearing is a rather special frequency, a mixture of water and wind, which only the headphones can detect. I've tested it myself several times and was able to detect the vibrations of objects, but you should be able to do much more. You've never seen anything in your life, so your brain will interpret it differently. Try to concentrate on what's in front of the mask. You should be able to notice the tiny water particles that make up the fog and immediately differentiate between those that are in contact with something"

Suki takes a deep breath and focuses her full attention on what is right in front of her, where the mask is facing. At first, everything seems static to her, but as time passes, the girl begins to notice that as her focus moves into the distance, her ears begin to notice obvious variations, and as her focus widens, her brain begins to piece together a kind of image, where all the variations represent an object from her perspective.

First from top to bottom, then from side to side, Suki's mind begins to create a highly detailed three-dimensional map of what is in front of her. The girl marvels at what she is "seeing" for the first time and how bizarre it is to be able to feel so much detail, the speed with which the girl's mind processes the information being crucial to being able to maintain this kind of alternative vision.

"How are you feeling?" the man asks, after not receiving any feedback from Suki for a while.

"I feel strange. I still have trouble differentiating objects. The floor is the hardest part"

"Over time, you'll get used to it. It's important to practice and adapt your senses to new stimuli. Remember, this only works in fog, so initial preparation is essential. With this, you'll be able to fight with a clear advantage against any enemy you encounter"

"Yes, Master"

Suki can't help but feel proud of her master's ability to create something so complex yet effective. No one would think of using the natural disadvantage of a blind person to turn it into an advantage on the battlefield. All that's left for the girl to do is practice this unique combat style, which will undoubtedly be a nightmare for her enemies in the future.
