Chapter 2 - LET ME KNOW

Author P.O.V.

The building was empty for the night and the occasional faraway drone and jolt of an elevator only added energy to the silence as they went to the Alpha's office. The building was separate from the packhouse for extra privacy and security. Nothing fancy about the building. It was simply a solid construction, a bit like the man it served.

It was Minimalist Design with a color palette of soft neutrals like whites, grays, and beiges. The furniture was sleek; a modern desk with clean lines and a comfortable ergonomic chair. The decor was lots of minimalist artwork, plants for a touch of greenery and organized shelving.

Everyone quickly took a seat with Luna Adrienna sitting on Alpha Darren's lap behind his desk. Alpha River was sitting in a chair in front of the desk beside Beta Landon. Beta Landon had Tamar sitting on his lap in a protective hold. She had tried to sit on the couch and not on his lap, but he wasn't having it.

"Look! Alpha Darren, our Gamma Brian, was recently rejected as soon as he met his fate mate. She was dating someone else and claiming to be in love with him. Plus, she did not want to be a Gamma's mate. Supposedly too low in the ranks for her taste. So forgive my Beta if he is overprotective right now." declared Alpha River.

"Beta Landon, no one is trying to take your mate Tamar from you. I assure you, please calm down." voiced Luna Adrienna in a calm and reassuring manner..

"I don't want anyone else. Calm down! I promise you it's not like that at all. I have not dated anyone ever. I wanted all my first to be with my fate mate. I am still a virgin. I believe in the matebond." revealed Tamar in a confident and calm tone.

"What is this all about then? I want my mate. I plan to take good care of her. I am 30 years old, and I want my mate. I am not leaving without her. I wanted to mate and mark her as soon as possible." demanded Beta Landon, feeling very anxious.

"Alpha River and Beta Landon, do you two remember my old Beta Wyatt Montgomery, who died 3 years ago in our last rogue attack?" asked Alpha Darren, confident that once these two good men had all the facts that they would do right by both girls. As he talked, he straightened the stuff on his desk, making sure everything was square and properly spaced. There wasn't much: a phone, a legal-sized line yellow pad, a translucent Bic pen with a black top and a big plastic cube with pictures of his wife, his children and his wolf.

"Yes! Great, solid man! What does he have to do with anything?" questioned Beta Landon, growing concerned for his mate. As he looked at the young tall chocolate curvaceous beauty that was now his mate.

"Yes! How can we forget him? He was a great guy. He taught both me and Beta Landon a ton of stuff. I will forever be grateful for him coming to our pack and sharing his knowledge and wisdom in my early years of being an Alpha." declared Alpha River as Tamar sat beaming with pride over their kind words regarding her. Beta Landon nodded in agreement with his Alpha's words.

"Well, this is his eldest daughter, Tamar Lynn Montgomery. Tamar turned 18 years old four months ago. Tamar has a younger sister named Miriam. Miriam is a very smart, clever, quiet, very helpful, very studious, lovely girl. Miriam is 14 years old. Miriam and Tamar are all that is left of the very strong Montgomery bloodline. They are both strong warriors. Tamar is Miriam's guardian. They are both pure blood Betas, of course. Tamar has made it very clear she will not accept any mate that is not willing to agree to take on her little sister as well to help raise her. This is Miriam 's first year in high school. She wants to be a nurse. Since their parents' deaths, my family and the Gamma family have helped to raise both girls and look out for them."declared Alpha Darren in a serious tone.

After that, Alpha River mindlinked Beta Landon." I don't have a problem with it. She can come with us too. However, the decision is yours to make alone. I will support you either way, brother. "

Then, Alpha River took a moment to lean forward in his chair and look out the office window and saw the deep blue sky that was cloudless and so bright it looked solid. However, the packland itself seemed to pulse with life and excitement.

"Cookie, is this true? You want your little sister to come back to my pack with us? You want for us to raise her like one of our own children?" probed Beta Landon as his wolf, Conrad confirmed their mate, Tamar and her wolf, Estine, wanted their matebond and were happy to be with them.

"Yes and if you can't. It's a deal-breaker for me. Family is important to me. I made a promise to look out for her and I keep all my promises. I will not abandon her." conveyed Tamar firmly, looking at her mate lovingly and hoping he would accept both of them.

"Family is important. My mom always wanted a daughter but got three sons instead. She will be happy to know she has her first daughter-in-law plus a bonus girl. Besides, you just made me the favorite son for a while. A total no-brainier for me. Now, I would love to meet my new sister. Where is she?" responded Beta Landon as his mate hugged and kissed him.

"Thank you! Thank you! She is a total sweetheart, and she won't be a problem at all. She's coming now. She was in our apartment watching a movie by herself." revealed Tamar, thrilled that she didn't have to reject her mate in order to keep her promise and raise her kid sister. Meanwhile, her wolf, Estine, was jumping up and down zealously about his wolf, Conrad. They were happy and already madly in love and devoted to each other.

"Beta Tamar, do you have any skills? Do you have any career goals?" asked Alpha River, trying to learn more about his new female Beta. Her bloodline alone made her a true prize.

"I am a warrior like my father! My specialty is hand-to-hand combat. I know three different martial arts. My father trained me and my sister from the age of five." professed Beta Tamar proudly. Beta Landon beamed with pride at her words. He had always wanted a mate that was a warrior and was cool and down-to-earth and family-oriented. It seemed the Moon Goddess did hear and answer his prayers. Who was he to question how she delivered it to him? Beta Landon thought to himself.

"Great. She'll make an excellent addition." proclaimed Alpha River, smiling.

A moment later, a knock was heard at the door at the Alpha's office. "Please enter, Miriam." instructed Alpha Darren.

After quick introductions, and a nice open discussion, it was settled they would bring both sisters back to the Moon Shine pack. They agreed to take care of Miriam until her 18th, or she finds her fate mate. Whichever comes first.

Then, they agreed to all leave in the morning after breakfast.
