Chapter 1 - Let the bodies hit the floor

Whoosh!

When Jack opened his eyes he instinctively closed them upon feeling the force of wind blown towards him. Before he could even think to open his eyes again the sound of objects colliding on trees was heard.

Looking in front of him there was a heavy amount of raised dust. Behind him were teenagers clad in simple garments that belonged to a time period hundreds of years before he was born. Not long after he was done analyzing the situation the dust in front of him cleared and with a voice that seemed as loud as thunder.

"How dare you try to put a hand on the young lady!"

The elderly mans voice echoed in Jack's head as he looked towards the man. Beside him was a girl she had robes as light blue as the sky and decorated with a white patterns that resembled clouds. On her waist was a simple belt that carried a sword on one side and in the middle was a buckle with a drawing of a Chinese dragon on it.

'What sort of situation is this?' Jack was at a loss for words and couldn't help but continue to stand in between the previously airborne teens and the rich girl and her servant.

The girl looked at him and spoke.

"Are you part of their group?" Her voice soft, but carried a underlying tone of prestige.

Jack being a young teen himself couldn't help but admire the slender curves and beautiful face she had. He snapped back to reality quickly and moved out of the way before stretching his arms out and gesturing for her to continue.

The young lady stood still but her companion moved towards the three boys that he had just launched and picked them all up in one hand and threw them at the feet of girl before speaking.

"Now apologize to the future heir of the 'Heavenly Dragon Clan'."

Everyone around gasped at the news. Jack was more surprised to learn that he had in fact been in a line the whole time this was happening. Whispers from the bystanders around him clued him in on the situation.

"Isn't the Heavenly Dragon Clan one of the top 5 clans in Murim?"

"I thought they didn't have an heir?"

"Why would a heir to one of the top 5 clans be coming to the 'Academy'?"

Jack looked back over towards the young lady and found her face that had been previous devoid of emotion started to crumble and reveal her true feelings about the murmurs of the crowd.

The three boys looked up at the heiress of the Heavenly Dragon Clan and realized their mistake. The one in the middle, who was most likely their leader, started to talk ignoring the fact he had missing teeth.

"I'm thorry, young lady, had I known you were from the Heaventhly Dragon Clan, I would've refthtrained from touching you." His word impeded by his recent loss of teeth.

Jack had no problem with the scene unfolding, actually found it amusing. It was like he was watching a play of an old folk tale, making it hard for him to hold in his laughter. The last straw came when the girl spoke again.

"I hope you three understand the consequences of your actions. You will be executed for laying a hand on me. Had I been someone without power who knows what brutish fantasies you would have forced to come true."

Jack truly assumed at this point that he was watching some reenactment and decided to stop holding back his laughter.

Everyone turned to look at him as he hunched over laughing with the full might of his diaphragm. His laughs shortly turned into gasps before he stopped to catch his breath he finally looked around to find that the attention had shifted.

"Do you think that my punishment is funny? You must be related to these sad sacks of walking hormones. If you think this is so funny how about you taste my sword."

Jack, thinking everything was an act, gladly walked towards the heiress with a cocky smile and wet his lips to prepare for his next words.

"I will gladly accept your challenge. Someone lend me a weapon."

He looked around to find no one stepping forward to lend him their armaments. It wasn't until the girl motioned for someone to hand their weapon over that it happened.

An average looking boy came over with a four foot long wooden spear and handed it to Jack, who just nodded at the boy.

"Very well, to make it fair to you ill allow you to have the first move."

The crowd erupted with whispers about the strength of the Heavenly Dragon Clan. Jack knew that it was just theatrics and that his opponent would just have the strength of a girl.

"If you wish to seal your fate than so be it."

The girl unsheathed her sword and revealed a steel Jian that had a drawing, similar to the one on her belt buckle, on the middle of its blade.

What shocked Jack was not the fact the blade was easily wielded by the young girl or the fact that she had insulted him, but the realization that the blade edges were sharp.

In an instant the girl thrusted her sword towards Jack who could do nothing but watch. He quickly felt the stinging pain of and open wound on the side of his face and heard the girl click her tongue as she missed.

He raised his spear up in a last ditch effort to save himself, but ultimately tripped while walking backwards resulting in him rolling. Fortunately for him this allowed him to dodge the girls technique and trip her. When they both came to a halt their bodies were on top of one another and their lips touching.

Before Jack had anytime to react she pushed him up and hit him while shouting.

"Shoryuken"

And so his first fight in Murim ended with him being hit into a tree and almost dying.
