Chapter 2 - Rules are Rules

Mu Xue first checked the bottle to see if there was anything suspicious in it. She even sent her Spirit Sense to scan it.

Her brother was only poisoned because they had been betrayed by someone they trusted deeply. That was why she was so skeptical about the bottle.

When she found nothing unusual, she heaved a sigh of relief and gently pushed it to her brother's lips, using her Qi to help him drink the water.

She was slightly surprised to notice that the water was cold, as if someone had dropped ice in it. But she ignored that for now.

As she observed what was happening inside her brother's body, she noticed the water suddenly turning into steam and getting absorbed into his flesh before even reaching his stomach.

'What..?'

Before she could understand what was happening, she noticed something that shook her to the core.

The poison that had already affected most of her brother's organs and body was being rapidly purified by that strange steam.

Under her shocked gaze, not only were all the toxins neutralized, but even his wounds closed up.

In a matter of seconds, her brother, who had been on the brink of death, was fully healed—like he had never been poisoned at all.

"Xue'er… what happened?" Mu Feng slowly came to as he looked around in confusion.

"Brother!!" Mu Xue hugged him tightly, tears streaming down her rosy cheeks.

Yun watched everything with a light smile and returned to his humble store.

The interface was still massive. At this point, Yun felt like he was reading a cultivation tax form.

Yun had already read it before, so he ignored most of it and only focused on the daily mission section.

'Hey, can't you make it a little better?' Yun asked.

[That is the lowest of the low.]

Yun's lips twitched hearing that, but he wasn't going to engage in this conversation again.

He just pocketed the Spirit Stone—only for the system to immediately yoink it like a greedy landlord collecting rent.

They had an 80-20 partnership—he got 20% of the sales.

As he was preparing the receipt for the water bottle, the duo of brother and sister walked into the shop with disbelief written all over their faces.

"You came just in time. Here is your purchase receipt," Yun said, handing it to the still-bewildered Mu Xue.

She was trying to make sense of what had happened, and her curiosity about the water bottle was unbearable.

"Boss, what was in that water bottle?" she asked, unable to hold it in.

Yun looked up and replied in a casual tone, "It contains water from Mountain Abu, so it can cure all toxins to a certain level."

That was the explanation the system gave him.

"A-All?" Mu Feng was stunned, but remembering what had just happened, he bowed and said, "Thank you for saving my life, senior."

'Good. Looks like it's working.' Yun shook his head inwardly without letting it show. "I'm a storekeeper. All I did was sell the product, I didn't save your life."

Mu Xue lightly tugged her brother's arm and said to Yun, "We're still thankful and would like to buy more of that water. Please give me ten bottles."

Pointing to the side where a set of rules were written on a stone tablet, Yun said, "You can only buy two per day. Those are the rules."

The duo stared at the rules in disbelief. What kind of store made such ridiculous rules? Did they not want to earn money?

They exchanged glances and saw the same desire in each other's eyes.

"Boss, we're willing to pay more. How about ten Low Spirit Stones per bottle?" Mu Feng pleaded.

Yun almost broke his character and quickly asked his system, 'Hey, they're asking so nicely. What if they have some emergency—'

[The rules are there for a reason, Host. They cannot be changed or violated.]

[Host must not be greedy and must maintain his professionalism. If you break your own rules over such a low price, how will you become a True Trader and the Apostle of Master Veyrion?]

'Those aren't even my rules... Fine, I get it.' Yun wanted to sigh but kept a neutral expression. He had just missed a chance to complete his daily quest.

"Rules cannot be changed or violated," Yun said calmly.

The duo were disappointed but didn't push further and kept smiling.

"Then we'll take three bottles," Mu Xue said. "One for me and two for my brother."

She smiled when she saw Yun nod and stand up.

He turned around, and only then did the two of them notice the strange object behind the counter.

A glowing rectangular box stood quietly, its surface smooth and transparent. Strange lights blinked at the top, and a faint cold mist curled out every time it opened.

Inside, rows of identical crystal-clear bottles shimmered with chilled droplets.

"Boss, what… what sort of treasure vault is that?"

Bai Yun popped it open. Hissss.

"Fridge."

He grabbed three bottles and handed them over. "Three Low Spirit Stones."

Mu Feng carefully took the three bottles while Mu Xue paid for them. She also received the receipt for it shortly after.

"Boss, are there any side effects?" Mu Xue asked, still a little wary.

The water was simply too miraculous to not have some catch. She had never seen anything like it.

Normally, high-tier pills or potions that could heal or purify at that level always had side effects—like fatigue or backlash.

"Side effects? It's literally water. Unless you're allergic to hydration, you'll be fine." Yun said calmly.

The duo were dumbfounded, and before they could say anything else, Yun gestured toward the door.

"Anyways, It's closing time, so please leave. You're welcome to return to the Dimensional Mall if you need anything."

Mu Feng opened his mouth to speak, but Mu Xue gently pulled his sleeve and bowed slightly. "Thanks, Boss. We'll come again."

With that, the two of them left so fast it was as if they feared Yun would snatch the bottles back.

"Seriously, System? I get my first customer and you force me to chase them away," Yun sighed. "And yeah, don't give me that speech about time being important and all."

[Host's brain function is slowly approaching standard merchant-level cognition.]

"Thanks. That means so much coming from a talking UI box."
