Chapter 2 - THE GIRL AT THE SCHOOL GATE

Season one: Invisible Girl & The Bully

Chapter One

The early morning fog still clung to the school gates of Jungwon High, wrapping the iron bars in a blanket of gray. Students passed through the threshold in clusters laughing, chatting, alive. But one girl walked alone.

Shin Hae-won gripped the straps of her old backpack tightly. Her uniform didn't fit quite right, slightly faded and too big on her fragile frame. Her long, jet-black hair fell over her face like a curtain, shielding her from curious eyes.

Another school. Another chance. But her stomach twisted with a sickening familiarity. She had been here before—new halls, cold stares, whispered rumors. All it ever took was one day for people to see through her—see the brokenness, the scars she couldn't hide.

She glanced up at the gates just as a loud rumble echoed—a sleek black motorcycle pulled up at the curb. Her heart skipped. The boy on it dismounted with practiced ease. Tall, broad-shouldered, messy dark hair. He removed his helmet, revealing a strikingly handsome face with piercing eyes that seemed to laugh and scowl at the same time.

Kang Ji-hoon.

Even Hae-won, invisible as she was, had heard of him on school forums. The notorious rich kid. Untouchable. A devil in designer shoes.

She kept walking, clutching her schedule in one hand and her ID in the other. The gates narrowed as the crowd thickened. She tried to pass through quickly—

BAM!

She crashed into a chest like a wall.

Her papers flew.

"Oh—!" she gasped, backing away.

"Watch it," a sharp voice snapped.

She looked up and froze.

Ji-hoon was staring at her, brows furrowed. His perfectly styled hair tousled by the breeze, his dark eyes narrowed.

"I-I'm sorry!" Hae-won bowed quickly, her voice barely a whisper.

Ji-hoon glanced at the scattered papers on the ground, then back at her. "Are you blind or just stupid?"

Her face flushed, and she quickly bent to pick up her things. Her hands shook.

He watched her, uninterested, until something caught his eye—her school ID, face-down on the ground. Before she could reach for it, he stepped on it.

"You're new," he said flatly, not moving his foot.

Hae-won nodded, trembling. "Yes… I'm… I'm Shin Hae-won."

He stepped off her ID slowly, picked it up, and turned it over in his hand.

"Hm. Not my type," he muttered with a smirk, and tossed it back toward her like it was trash.

Tears stung her eyes, but she refused to let them fall. She snatched her ID and ran off toward the school building.

Ji-hoon watched her go, his smirk slowly fading.

There was something… strange about her.

Something heavy.

But for now, she was just another face.

He didn't know that soon, that same invisible girl would become the one person he couldn't stop thinking about.
