Waking up, I remembered where I was.
The cabin. It was hard getting up from the makeshift bed I slept in. With the injuries I had.
Walking for days without food or water was not ideal, but what other options did I have? None as far as I could remember anyways. I thought finally gotten back up, and took a few minutes just standing there.
" Lookie here, the kid of mysterious is finally up" turning my head, I saw Silas. Standing by the door. He had an unreadable face expression, it was hard to tell what he was really thinking.
"Apologies, but c-can I ask what time is it?" I didn't move, my body felt relaxed just standing.
"It's afternoon, kiddo. You slept through the day, well you slept for 2 weeks"
"I see... I guess my body was tired a little—"
"Are you joking with me? You were Barely alive when I found you, I had to call a friend over to heal you too." What is he talking about? I was fine until I fell asleep, did something happen or am I simply not understanding him.
"What do you mean by barely alive?" I had the feeling he would not give me the full truth but still...
"If you're interested in knowing more, just follow me to the table" he sounded serious but I couldn't tell.
Wanting to know more, I just followed shortly behind him. It was difficult to move.
He did say he called someone to come heal me? I'm not sure if they already healed me or not. They might be still on their way?
Taking a sit beside him on the table. The candle was lit, with a cold breeze coming from the window.
" So—" he cut me off with his hand.
"Okay, kiddo. Let me tell you, you have no mana in your body whatsoever!" There was no reason to shout, but what did he mean by that? No mana? What is that. But seeing my confused face, he decided to tell me. And oh boy, am I LOST.
This world, that we live in. is, by all means complex. In a simple way, the world works with mana, everything works with mana, all beings have mana flowing through their bodies without fail. It's considered impossible to be born without it. If you have no mana, you die.
It's that simple, anyone born without it just dies without fail. I found it horrific.
But if everything and everyone has mana inside them... what about me? Don't I have it as well? But...He s-said I had no— no...
"So... you mean to say—"
"Yes, you should be died."
"But I still live somehow? Why? Why me? "
" That's what I have been trying to figure out the past 2 weeks"
" I see... it's a lot to take in. But I'm sure there's a lot more than this right? That you are not telling me?" I asked, taking a deep breath. He smiled a bit before closing his eyes.
" Yes, there's a lot you don't know, but I think it's best if we talk about that on another day no? Great!" Well I guess I'll be getting my answers who knows when.
"But before we end this off, I have to ask" I folded my arms together, he did the same. Waiting on me to ask.
"Go on,kiddo"
"I have been meaning to ask you, but earlier you said you called someone to come heal me right?"
"Yes, I did. They haven't arrived yet, they'll be here in two days." Just as I thought... that's good, which means I will stop feeling this amount of pain everyday haha... wait
"Hey Uhm, can I ask but did you try to heal me before you decided to call your friend?" He looked a bit surprised by that
" Yes, I did. But it did not work, I tried everything I knew but nothing just nothing would work."
"Do you think your friend's healing will?"I had to ask, feeling like I can never be healed was nightmare fuel.
" I'm sure it will, it always have. With everything she tried to heal. She has a perfect record" yeah let's hope I don't broke it somehow..
After some time talking to Silas, I decided to get up and look around the place. Walking was not pleasent at the moment but I could not continue to sit on that chair any longer.
And just as I was about to enter the room I was using. A thought passed my mind.
Am I forgetting something?
I turned around and saw Silas cleaning his short sword in his chair singing something.
" Hey, uhn Silas. Is there something I'm forgetting?" What he said next almost made me lose my balance.
"Huh? Oh yeah, your pet wolf, his been outside the whole day. He's usually sleeping besides you though"
Wasting no time, I forced myself to run outside, Silas said nothing as I ran passed him. He just continued working on his short sword.
Taking a look, I saw nothing just the forest.
Did he perhaps...no he wouldn't right?
Feeling weak, I still stood there. Breathing heavily and shouted his name, over and over again.
"SILVER!!! SLIVER WHERE ARE YOU!" I continued to do this for a few more minutes. I was slowly losing hope. Hope huh. It wasn't that long ago when he chased after me in the forest, I still remember it perfectly. He was scary back then, but now?
After some time, the sun was setting, with it's orange light covering the land. A second later, I heard howling.
That—
Yes, Sliver. He came running at high speed, I almost didn't see him coming as he jumped on me licking my face
"Hahah! Hey stop that!" He didn't listen, and I didn't notice but Silas, was standing by the front door. Watching us, still cleaning that sword of his in silence.
"How about it kiddo. Alter? Sounds good huh I'm great at naming kuhahahaha!!" He mattered the first part but started laughing by the second part.
