You know… Getting thrown into another world is not bad. Well, I am saying that because I get a lot of power, you know? Well, it is more knowledge than power. Don't get me wrong, I also get powers, but they cannot be compared to the knowledge in my head.
What kind of knowledge? Well, it is a knowledge of sci-fi tech. It is a set of knowledge from multiple worlds. How many worlds, you might ask? There are 20 worlds and multiple 'specialties' in each world.
Take Star Wars for example. I have knowledge of Weapons, Ships, Droids, and Medicals from that world. I can create and mix many things to create better tech.
And that is only one world. I have twelve more worlds.
Now that I think about it, I know the reason why I got these powers and knowledge. All of these are coming from CYOA, which I filled out in the past, right? Yeah. My perk helps me remember all of it. I created this one to act as an explorer of the universe.
Yeah, exploring another galaxy will be a problem, but lucky for me, I also pick a power that lets me jump into another universe for an easy jump between universes.
Anyway, my name is Orin Dorne, and I am a Faunus. What is a Faunus? It is a race in the RWBY world where someone has an animal trait. Me? I have a pair of cat ears and a cat tail behind me.
Having two animal traits is extremely rare, but it is not impossible. A few faunus have had two animal traits in the past; however, I have the most recent one.
Anyway, I am an orphan, but I managed to climb my way to independence through sheer will and stubbornness. What should I do? I am the Fixer Man of Kuo Kuana and the only person who knows how to fix a bigger machine.
Because of this, I am busy and have quite a fortune.
It is a perfect identity for me. Thank you, whoever you are, for sending me here with all of these. To start my new journey, I need to gather resources. Lucky for me, I have a power called |[Resource] Bar| that lets me change any resource into a [Resource], a universal resource that I can use for anything. Sadly, a common resource can only be changed into a small amount of [Resource], which needs more [Resource] if I require an exotic material to create something.
Luckily, Kuo Kuana has a massive source of materials I can change to [Resource]: Sands.
This place is a desert, and there is a lot of sand. I can harvest them and change them for [Resource]. In fact, I can gather them now using a few favors from the current leader of White Fang, Sienna Khan.
You know what? Let's do that.
I take out my Scroll (RWBY's version of a smartphone) and call the High Leader.

"Right. Put them there. Yup. Stack them all."
I look at the massive stack of sacks full of sand in front of me. Standing next to me is Sienna Khan, who looks at the stack of sacks in front of her with a frown.
"What do you want this sand for, anyway?"
"Ah, I want to do some experiments. If this is working, we can produce electricity without Dust."
This world is weird. Because of the existence of Dust, their version of Miracle Stone, they never once tried to get energy from other sources. Electricity for civilian houses? Dust. Fuel for your car? Dust. Dust powers all of the machines in this world.
I read about them trying fossil fuel in the past, but it generates less energy and generates massive pollution. Not only that, maintaining the machine that lets them generate energy requires a massive amount of resources every month.
With all these things in mind, they return to Dust and never once touch other energy sources.
"What? Are you sure?"
I turn around and see Sienna frowning at my words.
"Yup. I don't know how much it can generate, but my target is something that can power the entire city without the need for dust."
Most houses in Kuo Kuana do not have power running through them. They use oil from fish and animal fat to light up their lamp. They use their dust to fight the Grimm on this island, and there are many of them.
"If you can manage to do that, you will be remembered as the hero of Menagerie, Orin."
"Bah. I am not a hero. I am only doing this so I can spend my dust on something more useful."
I can hear her chuckle at my words and say.
"What is with you not wanting to receive the title of a hero?"
"Because a hero is troublesome. People will have high expectations of you, and I don't want that kind of thing in my life."
"Hah! Fair enough. High expectations are rather tiresome, after all. How long do you think it will take to finish this project?"
"It is an experiment, not a project. I still don't know if this will work. However, if my plan works, it should be fully done in a month or two. Depending on the resource."
"Right. Just tell us if you need more resources, Orin."
"Will do."
When the grunt is done moving the sacks, Sienna and her army leave my warehouse. I look at the sand and smile a little. It's time to work.

Ilia Amitola looks at Sienna and says.
"Can I ask a question, my lady?"
"Ask away, Ilia."
"Why do you trust him so much? You are willing to give your word and support for his experiment that might not work."
Sienna hums a little and says.
"Before we answer that, can you tell me the pillar that holds Menagerie together?"
Ilia thinks for a second and says.
"There are three pillars. The first one is you, my lady. The one that holds the military together and makes sure Faunus's voice can be heard across the world. The second one is the Albain Twin. As much as I don't like them, they hold the spiritual side together and keep the morale high. The last one is Chieftain Ghira. If you are the arms and legs of Menagerie and the Albain Twin is the heart of Menagerie, then Chieftain Ghira is the Soul of Menagerie. He is the one holding us together. Without him, we will have a civil war."
Sienna nods her head and says.
"You are almost there. There is one thing that you left behind."
"... Is it sir Orin?"
"Yes. Orin is the Brain of Menagerie. Without him, we cannot function. Do you know how much machine we need to buy from outside without his help?"
"A dozen each year?"
"Hah! Not even close. The outside kingdom never gives us a brand-new machine, Ilia. They will sell us an old machine or a half-broken one. Each weapon coming from the outside kingdoms will go through him so he can fix them and make them combat-ready for us. Without him, we cannot fight the Grimm or even power a high-end defensive machine we have. We have engineers in our midst, but he is the head of them that knows all kinds of machines or tech. Even though his experiment failed, I am more than willing to give it to him for all the survival he has done for us."
"And if he succeeds, we will get something that can help us."
"Yes. I don't know what machine he wants to build, but if it works, our dust consumption will be reduced by quite a bit. Let's pray it is working, and if it is a failure, we don't lose a lot."
Ilia nods her head and says.
"I understand."
