Kangdae's POV
I was ushered into Guyong's territory. That place smells like a grave! It was the devil's zone. All his pack members lived there with him. None was allowed to stay alone or rent an apartment. His territory was big enough to accommodate even a hundred wolves and their families. Some of his pack members lived there with their wives, and some had kids.
I perceived blood, tears, and pain. I almost threw up. The last time I was here, it wasn't this bad! I walked amidst them, watching every step I took. I avoided stepping on the toes of any or getting in the way of any wolf. Anytime I visited him, I was always in fear. I continued to follow behind, observing the new look of his territory.
"Stop there!" a thick voice said. I didn't know that Hyejin had left me and I was walking alone; I had been carried away by the deadly look of the place.
Guyong's mate was the one who spoke. She had the voice of a man, and that's what drives Guyong crazy. He hated anything feminine, and that's the more reason he treats female wolves the way he does. He sees them as tools. He believes they are only created to give birth and go on errands. Any female wolf must take orders from her men. So for him not to see his mate as such, he turned her voice into the voice of a male beast!
"You are here to see my husband, aren't you?" she asked, looking proud like a peacock.
"Yes," I nodded, replying with a shallow voice. Her husband came from behind her.
"Why do you come to my territory, you human?" he asked.
"Haven't I done enough for you and your people?" I began with teary eyes. "Why torment my daughter?" I found myself in a pool of tears, even though I hadn't said too much. Only with a small demonstration, I was thrown against the wall, blood spitting from my mouth. He lifted me again, strangling my neck. I died slowly until he let me drop from the air and land on the ground.
"Just a simple arithmetic, solve it! Make your son marry Nara, and I will give your daughter to you. But if he refuses, consider your daughter food for my boys!" he said and left. His mate followed him behind.
How did I get involved in all of this in the first place? I thought as I forced myself to my feet—my human bones broken.
I do not go there with my driver. I always go alone, driving myself. But now I wasn't fit to drive back home. I picked up my phone that I left in the car to prevent it from getting damaged by Guyong because I knew he was very brutal and aggressive. I called my second driver after I managed to drive a bit farther away. "Come take me to the hospital. I am at Block 5A, Donghwa Street, near Gangseo Junction," I said over the phone, falling back carefully on my car's seat. I moaned in pain, clutching the side of my belly.
Jiah's POV
"We are supposed to visit Hayan, but we can't leave you alone with her," I said, pointing a finger at the wolf that was fast asleep. She is powerless because we had connected with her earlier, draining the little power that was left in her.
"I suggest you go with Sungmin," Yula said, and that was our final conclusion.
When we got to Hayan territory, we thanked her for coming to our aid the other time. But she didn't allow us to finish our speech.
"Say no more!… That child who saved all of you earlier today is a member of your clan. If your clan is not complete, you won't have victory in the future. I can't help you find him. It has been destined for you all to find him yourselves. It is beyond my power to assist you in finding any member of your clan. But with the help of the stars in the sky, you can find your pack members complete. Once they are complete, the star will give you a sign."
"How's my father?" I asked, cutting Hayan from saying any more of her parables. I planned to ponder on that later because my head wasn't ready for it anymore—unlike when we first arrived, looking passionate about finding a solution.
"He is still held under Guyong's manipulation. Time is not by your side!" she cried, asking us to go and fix the problems that kept rising around us.
"Wait! I hear a strange voice!" she said, calling us back. "Your clan has a guiding star. The star that protects you, directs you and above all communicates with you. But none of you paid any attention, none of you even took note of the star and now it's gone!" she said, tears in her eyes. "I see doom!"
"Hayan, please help us! We don't really know where to start from," I said desperately, interrupting her
"Slaughter a wolf, from any pack but not yours. Everyone should drink the blood of the wolf and make sure you all come out of your apartment that night, hold hands together and connect, also connect with the star even if no one sees the star. Your sacrifice will be accepted and you will see a sign instantly." she explained carefully.
"How many more do we need to have a complete clan?" Sungmin asked with curiosity on our way home.
"I have no idea!" I replied in a stern voice, trying to calculate in my head, but Sungmin was a distraction.
"How do we even read stars?" I asked, expecting no reply. But Sungmin, who never seems to understand when one is serious and when one isn't, replied.
"The wolf from Guyong's pack can do that!" he replied, making sense to me.
"But how sure are you about this?"
"Since Guyong had illegal access to my head and my mind, I also stole into his head," he said, curling a playboy smile at the corner of his lips. "And discovered that she reads stars and that she had also helped him complete his pack by reading stars for him until he got a complete pack. She is one of his pack's daughters," he said, throwing up peanuts and catching them with his mouth as he munched on each one that fell into his mouth. "The oldest actually," he snapped, leaving me completely speechless! I didn't know he had information as important as this with him.
"What? Why the look?" he said, feeling shy. I tried to muffle the laugh that forced itself out.
"Nothing!" I replied quickly.
When we got to the house, we explained to Yula, and I also told her what Sungmin said about the wolf from Guyong's pack.
"You think so?" she asked too, looking curious as I was earlier. "But you guys did not think about the wolf for the sacrifice?" she said. That's true!
"I smell pain, someone's dying somewhere!" I interrupted, feeling certain about it. "And it has got to do with Sungmin… Can you just contact your Dad and your sister and check up on them?" I asked calmly. He started looking for his phone everywhere.
"I think I forgot it the last time I was with my father!" he said, speeding off to his father's house.
Sungmin's POV
"Young Master, our boss has been admitted to the hospital since yesterday," Pakseoun said respectfully. My expression changed when I heard this.
"How? How did that happen?" I asked, with seriousness on my face. She moved her head as if nodding and I understood that she didn't know the answer to that.
"Where's Taewong?"
"He should be outside," she replied, pointing towards the door.
"You may leave!" I ordered. "Wait! Tell him to prepare the car. He is taking me to the hospital right away!"
When we got there, I saw terrible cuts all over his body.
"Who did this to you?" I asked, trying to contain my anger as I struggled not to transform. I wouldn't want to do that in the human's world. "Talk to me!" I yelled, hearing the wolf in me. And then I breathed in and exhaled.
"Calm down," Yula mind-linked me.
"What's wrong? I smell your wrath here!" she said in the mind-link.
"An enemy has done this," I replied in the mind-link.
"Guyong," Dad said, barely audible. I felt a growl forcing itself out of my lungs, but Yula cautioned me in the mind-link, telling me not to make a sound.
Yula's POV
"I think Sungmin's father had an attack."
"By whom?" Jiah asked with wide eyes, waiting to confirm her thoughts.
"I don't know," I blurted out. As we were still speaking, Sungmin appeared at his gentle speed. He didn't say a word to anyone. He raged, feeling like getting a hold of Guyong right away!
