While we drive, I asked them "is it okay if I sleep a little?" Evelina looked at me and replied "yeah, only if I sleep next"
William yawned "What about me?" Evelina chuckled "You can just sleep big guy, you need it"
Both me and William fell asleep in nearly ten minutes, then I saw a dream. It would be surprising if it's not about my Father but it was
I walked inside the Church and I saw my Priest and asked "Father, may I ask something?"
My Father slowly walked to me and crouched and headpat me and said his usual quote,
"My dear, what is it you wish to learn? as God offers question and answer both"
I looked up to my Priest with teary eyes.
"Isn't God, King of Heaven and Earth? then why sinful acts look so tempting? why people with good heart can't join Heaven just because they lack Innocence?"
Priest hugged me "Let me give you a secret, but don't tell this to anyone... okay?"
I nodded and Father whispered in my ear "Because God created Devil beautiful, just like how he created us"
I always thought he meant the sins were things that we enjoyed doing but a part of me says it's completely different
Before I realize, Evelina waked me up it was dark outside now
Evelina steps out of the car and touched William's shoulder "Come on guys, we are here"
William strechted himself and yawned "We already arrived..? I kinda feel bad that I slept the entire ride, I should've helped you"
Evelina chuckled "I am not weak, William. See? I handled it, but next time Lukas is driving"
We arrived at Sander's house. Sander always lived alone, he was a Iraq war veteran.
Evelina opened the door, his house smell like old times. William smiled and told us "My grandmother had more modern house"
It was actually a good try but making fun of a guy who just recently tried to save us is really not ideal. But to my suprise Evelina chuckled and said "He would laugh at it"
We looked around places, tried to find anything. Meanwhile, Evelina asked us a question while checking Sander's closet "What is the best thing Sander ever said to you all?"
Me and William both stopped for a moment to think, before I could think of anything, William already started to talk "He used to talk about 'if one day I leave this world the only thing I would want from you is keep smiling"
Evelina smiled "Aww, that's sweet" William looked emotional and sighed "Even though it is kinda hard to keep doing it I will keep doing it... at least I will try"
Evelina looked through one of the closets and said "You deserve nothing more than what you deserve, and that's why you deserve everything."
Evelina got a bit emotional and said "he was always too good with words"
William give out a little gasp "Now that's even better than mine"
Evelina laughed and replied "Come on, it's not something to compare... Hey, Lukas. What about you? what's the best thing Sandre ever told you?"
I looked at the mirror that had Sandre's old soldier photos with others, I started to think what best he told me, I started to think a little too much.
2 Years Ago
"I don't think... I can keep going with a guy like you, L... you are- you are so depressive all the time you always think something else."
Evelina sighed and continued "If you cared about me, you would at least think a little bit more no? at least you would talk to me more often?"
Then Evelina raised her voice "You treat me the same as all the others, I want to feel more important!"
I wanted to be more emotional but anything I can do was just look at her with pale face, this made her even angrier and said
"I think I gave you more than enough, you were right... it should've stayed as friendship" As Evelina left the place, all I could do was stare.
After she left, surprisingly Sandre entered the place.
I looked at Sandre with annoyed face and said "You stalking us? good for you she just left and now single"
Sandre sat on the chair and said "Good for everyone actually"
I was already dealing with just 1 minute ago broke up and now have to deal with a guy who tries to play the father figure.
I was so annoyed that it was too much for me to handle, so I raised my voice and said, "Okay, Sandre, if you really want to take his side and say a bunch of bu-"
Before I could finish my sentence I looked at Sandre and I saw an teary eyes? it was the first time I ever saw Sandre, giving this much expression.
I looked at Sander and said "Sander? wha-"
Sandre took a napkin and wiped his eyes and said,
"I just wanted to say... You are-"
Before I realized I lost to my thoughts and I got scared when Evelina yelled right in my ears, saying.
"Hello!? is anyone in there? Evelina to Lukas"
I got scared and jumped and looked at Evelina and said "What are you doing? can't you see I was thinking?"
Evelina looked at me with confused face and said "The Sandre thing? you thinking about that for 10 minutes? come on William found something"
I looked at William and asked "What did you find, William?"
William gave me a book called 'Wonderful 2003' but the Wonderful part was crossed out and instead written 'Infidel 2003' we opened the book and the first words were about Sander's
Inside the book
Today we are going to land on Iraq, my job is to guard one of the small town so I will not be on the frontline.
But still I will see the war and if things go south I might also go to frontlines which is something I really afraid of.
So I will continue writing to this once I get to town I will guard or at least when they assign me to.
Day 1: We finally captured the town that my group assigned to guard so me and another 9 soldier needed to take this town and control the place. Tomorrow we are going to 'Khanaqin'
Day 5: It was terrible 5 days but we finally arrived. The location was very far off and if something bad happened we would actually all be killed so that's why we always avoid fighting and avoid going alone.
Day 12: Something strange is going on these days, yesterday all of town folk walked to different place and gathered,
but they didn't allowed any soldiers, to our fear, we grabbed our guns and ordered them to come out
but when we arrived, all the town folk left the place and they all looked happy and comply to our orders. It was indeed strange but seeing them loyal is a big relief.
Day 17: To my surprise, one of children has grabbed me and said some words I do not understand.
Our leader ordered me to go with them and create good relations with the town members, I was kinda scared but our leader assured me I was safe and if anything happens he will be rescued.
I went to their house and the kid show me... a lot of books!? so many book was here and one of the family member the oldest son of the family speak english to me and told me "I- can't read English but can speak a little... p-please tra-tr-translate for us"
I tooked the book and for the entire day we read and translate the book. The book was... fascinating.
Back to our MC
Day 2- For some reason from this moments the book was ripped and only these days were left
"Well, that gave us nothing..." I said and threw the book, I looked at the William and Evelina and said
"Come on, we just need the guns and leave and rescue Steve." William and Evelina nodded and we went to look for guns
After another ten minutes we finally found the guns, one shotgun and one rifle. I looked at them and said "Good enough, William you hold the Shotgun, Evelina you hold the Rifle."
Evelina took the rifle and looked at me and asked "What about you?"
I grabbed Evelina's pistol and looked at her "I can do double pistol"
Evelina instantly got annoyed and took the pistol "Oh, absolutely not. I am not giving you my baby"
William then took the rifle "Then you don't get the rifle" Evelina was shocked "You side with him on this?"
William chuckled "I always side with the correct side, give him your pistol rifle will be enough"
Evelina sighed and gave me the pistol "Take a good care for her okay?" I nodded mockingly and we left the house and entered the car
I tried to sneak on back of the car but Evelina grabbed my shoulder and said "You thought I wouldn't realize? I swear to God, Lukas, I need to sleep or I'll crash this car myself. You drive."
I sighed as I got caught, then I started the car and begin to drive.
The car was so silent and I could only hear William talking to himself, I heard him saying.
"Steve, we are coming for you."
