🦋 NABI 🦋
My last few days were traumatising and of course, tiring. All that kept replaying in my mind was the fact that I had to find Lee Gon. With the leads that I've got, it shouldn't be that hard.
I flung the door to my father's house open happily, "Eomma!" I called. "Appa! Uri Nampyeon!"
After a stressful day, the best place to be is home. I slowly sank into the house and my mother's voice alongside my younger brother's voice echoed out.
I rushed in, "Eomma!" I called again.
My eyes fell on them at the centre of the living room, my mother carried my father on her lap, he was fiercely covered in blood and they were weeping uncontrollably.
It was a horrifying scene, whenever I think about how I would lose my parent, I immediately rebuke it and give them more years, so what is this?
I dragged my heavy feet closer to my dead father to take a closer look, from the hair on his head to the sole of his feet was covered in claw marks, one that was definitely not done by an imaginary bear.
I heard a proverb that says, what you fear the most always ends up happening, mine just happened. I am a daddy's girl and I just lost my shield.
Close to my father's corpse was a letter written with his blood, with trembling hands I picked it up, and it said, "Stop trying to find me or it would be you next."
Right there it rang in my head, "That horrible creature did this, I'm not trying to find him yet, I have zero information about the beast; even my dash cam had nothing to offer. The only person I'm after right now and have a lead about is Lee Gon. It's either the Beast and Lee Gon have something in common or the Beast is Lee Gon."
I looked down at the letter written with my father's blood again and screamed at the top of my lungs, "No fucking body tells me what to do! You just sit tight; I'll find you and make your life miserable." I threw the table sitting pretty in the centre of the living room in annoyance, shattering it and every single item on it into a million pieces.
Just then a report came in from Jia, "Nabi do you copy? Commander Ethan wants you in his office, over."
I held the ear tune radio tightly and stormed out of the house, emotionally and mentally drained. In case you are curious about this; I didn't shed a tear, I was just extremely furious, right then – I wanted to burn down the world and leave the ashes left behind; I felt cheated.
I got to our office and stormed into the commander's office, raising my right hand to my forehead, with my fingers extended and my thumb tucked in to salute. I held it for a brief moment then lowered my hand.
"You disobeyed the orders, you were told to kill on sight and not hold a consultation," Commander Ethan voiced. "On top of that you cut off the ear tune radio and shot the CCTV camera close by so we could neither reach you nor see you; do you know how many rules you just broke?"
"After due consideration, I figured that the young innocent man doesn't deserve to be killed," I fired back with my head hung low.
"On whose order?" He screamed, "The headquarters gives an instruction, your job is to carry out orders and not make your own choice."
"The headquarters might be wrong," I reasoned out, "We can't just shed innocent blood because we are asked to. I'm no robot nor slave."
Commander Ethan slammed his fist on his desk and jumped up in anger, "What is it to you? Why won't you just do whatever you were asked to do? This is a mission, and whether or not we ask you to kill has nothing to fucking do with you. Pull a string like this again and I'll make sure I send you to the disciplinary team so you face the consequences. Am I understood?" he asked and I nodded.
"Speak so I can be sure I made myself clear," he snarled.
"Yes Commander," I muttered and saluted.
"Dismissed," he retorted.
"And what about the beast that has been killing? I think you left that one out." I declared.
"It's a bear Nabi," he snapped, "And it has absolutely nothing to do with you."
A weird smirk appeared on my face as I took steps closer to Commander Ethan, ogling at him.
"My father was killed a few hours ago, just before you called me in." I whispered, "And guess what? Claw marks were used in decorating every inch of my father's body. I also found a letter right beside him, it was written with my father's precious blood, and in it was written: don't try to find me or I'll come for you next, I guess Bears attends high school in the jungle. This case has everything to do with me now, that monster has just invited me to make a choice. Let's assume it's a bear, I'll be the bounty hunter that hunts its ass down."
The commander looked at me with a serious expression on his face, "You will do no such thing, announce that your father was killed by a bear, close the investigation and bury the dead."
I bit my lower lips and scoffed, "Shi Bal! I'll be back for the consequences of my actions commander. But Ahjussi, if I discover that you know exactly what is going on, and you decided to play dumb and call it a bear until it killed this many people including my precious father – I'll come for you next and trust me, you'll rather prefer to be hunted down by that bear than to be hunted down by me; I won't leave any part of you scarless. And just when I'm done printing claw marks on you… I'll draw out your blood and send it to your family in the States. Aigoooo, don't be scared, I'm sure you know nothing about it – right?"
With that, I walked out of the office angrily, "Just wait a little longer, cute big bear… I'll find you."
Just then, out of nowhere, a bus painted black drove passed me and then reversed, and in a swift second, I was pulled into the bus and knocked out.
Everything happened too fast, faster than any other kidnap I've ever seen or heard.
When I regained consciousness, I slowly opened my eyes to view my surroundings, but then my heart stopped beating, for a second or maybe more… a perfect excuse to die.
Can a good Samantha out there tell me why I got kidnapped and hung up in the air like a rabbit, when my story isn't over yet? My story had just begun, and it all started with one fucking kidnap.
