Chapter 7 - Chapter 6: Crisis in the air

With Ron's word to depart, the crowd boarded a dilapidated military truck and headed towards their destination, encountering a few small mutants along the way, all of which were eliminated by Mark's precise archery from a long distance without posing the slightest threat. Three kilometers from their destination, the road was blocked by the ruins of a building, and the group had to get out of the vehicle and walk.

Ian and his teammates carefully navigated between the debris, the smell of dampness and decay in the air, and an unnerving silence all around.

"The bomb shelter is just up ahead, about two more kilometers." Ron lowered his voice and reminded the team, "All stay alert, the mutated creatures in this area have been moving around a lot lately."

Ian gripped the long knife in his hand tightly, and his eyes scanned the surroundings vigilantly. He could clearly feel the tension in his back muscles, and his heartbeat gradually accelerated with his footsteps.

Eliza suddenly raised her fist, signaling the crowd to stop.

"Something's wrong, there's movement." She whispered a warning.

The crowd immediately stopped and held their breath.

A moment later, a subtle rustling sound came from behind the ruins.

Several small mutants slowly crawled out of the shadows of the ruins, their appearance hideous and their eyes glowing with ferocity. Their bodies were thin but swift, and their sharp claws flashed with a sharp light.

"Just some weak mutants, don't panic." Mark calmly said, quickly raising the bow and arrow in his hand, a sharp arrow instantly shot out, accurately piercing through the skull of one of the frontmost mutants.

"kill them off!" Ron shouted, brandishing his huge battle axe and rushing towards the group of monsters.

Ian followed closely behind, his long knife cutting a sharp arc like the wind, severing the head of a monster. Blood splattered and a pungent fishy odor instantly filled the air.

Eliza and Bruno also quickly joined the battle.

Bruno's tall body rushed through the group of mutants, he was as solid and reliable as a moving fortress. Alisa, on the other hand, nimbly dodged the attacks, and the dagger in her hand quickly stabbed into the enemy's fatal parts.

The battle quickly ended, and the ground was strewn with monster corpses.

"None of them are hurt, right?" Ron quickly looked around the team and was relieved to see that everyone was unharmed, "Keep moving, but don't let your guard down."

The squad continued to advance towards the air raid shelter.

Shortly after, they finally reached their destination. The entrance to the air defense cave was closed off by a thick iron door, rusted and stained, obviously no one had opened it for a long time.

But just as they were about to approach, Ron suddenly stopped in his tracks.

"Wait!" He quickly crouched down and scrutinized the footprints on the ground, "There are other people's traces here, it's very new, no more than half an hour. Damn! The guy who gave me the information lied to me, he gave me more than just one person!"

Mark frowned, "Looks like we're a little late."

Ron grimaced, "Be careful, we might be in trouble."

The crowd took up alert postures and slowly entered the air-raid shelter, the interior of the air-raid shelter was cold, damp and alarmingly quiet, with only the sound of water drops falling on the ground proving that the crowd hadn't lost their hearing.

The interior of the air-raid shelter was large, dark and empty, the crowd was cautiously guarding against possible dangers, just at this moment, Ron raised his hand to signal the crowd to stop, and slowly said, "Everyone be careful, there's a smell of blood, it's coming from the left."

The people have turned their heads, with flashlights to the left side of the darkness, soon, the people found a body on the ground, the equipment and its excellent, police flashlights, bulletproof undershirts, tactical undershirts, everything, the hand also holds a 9MM pistol.

Ron carefully approached the body, touched the pulse, slowly spoke, "Already dead, so well-equipped, not a wanderer, should be someone who came in before us, but, why would he die here."

Listening to Ron's analysis, some fear arose in the hearts of the rest of the people, Mark took the lead and spoke, "Captain, why don't we withdraw as well, this squad with such fine equipment all died here, the danger here is more than we can imagine, and what supplies are not as important as lives."

"No way! The intelligence here is something I spent a lot of money on, as well as the money we spent on making other preparations, if we return empty-handed, we'll be waiting to starve to death for the next month!"

The others were powerless to refute, even if they acquiesced to continue exploring, at this time Ian silently thought, "It's really true that people die for money, birds die for food."

Ron scavenged some equipment from the corpses that could still be used, and the crowd also slightly suppressed the fear in their hearts and continued to explore the air defense cave.

Relying on the information that Ron bought, the crowd quickly came to the storage room of the air defense cave, during which there was no danger, all of them breathed a sigh of relief, Ron encouraged everyone: "There is no danger, right, open this door, inside are all food and water, quickly take it and leave."

Faced with the temptation of a large amount of supplies, Mark wasn't afraid anymore and grabbed the first step to open the iron door of the storage room.

Immediately afterward Mark froze in place and yelled, "Run! Hunters! It's all hunters! "
