Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: The Third Four-Leaf Clover

"This is... the third four-leaf clover!"

All eyes turned upward, gazing at the floating grimoire inside the tower.

Three four-leaf clovers appearing in one day?

"What's going on?"

"Is it mine?"

"Check around; see who hasn't received a grimoire yet..."

Everyone began questioning those nearby. It quickly became evident that, aside from Asta, everyone else already had their grimoire.

"Could it be... this one is mine?"

Asta's previously despondent eyes lit up with hope.

Yuno had received a four-leaf clover. If Asta wanted to compete with him for the title of Wizard King, his starting point couldn't be any weaker.

"Sorry, but this one's mine too..."

With a wave of his hand, the floating four-leaf clover descended.

The crimson glow dissipated, revealing a fiery red cover.

Like the first, this grimoire landed securely in Ethan Gale's right hand.

The crowd was stunned into silence, staring at Ethan in disbelief.

Two?

One person holding two grimoires?

And not just any grimoires—both were four-leaf clovers symbolizing unparalleled luck!

Were they dreaming, or had someone else's wildest dreams just come true?

"This..."

The elderly Tower Keeper stared speechlessly for a long moment. In all his years managing the Grimoire Tower, he had never seen or heard of one person receiving two grimoires.

Even across the four kingdoms, such an occurrence was unheard of.

"Heh, interesting," Yuno said, regaining his composure. "But only I will become the Wizard King."

His calm eyes briefly softened with pity as he glanced at Asta.

Having grown up in the same village, Yuno couldn't help but feel sorry that Asta hadn't been chosen by a grimoire.

If Asta couldn't pursue the path to becoming Wizard King, Yuno decided he would carry both their dreams forward.

"Is that so? Then let's see who gets there first!"

Ethan smirked confidently.

He hadn't come this far to be second best. If he aimed for something, it would be to become the strongest, the greatest.

The title of Wizard King wasn't just a label—it symbolized invincibility and ultimate power.

Though the ceremony ended, those who had witnessed it would never forget the events of that day.

"Damn it, they ran off..."

Ethan scanned the area but couldn't spot the two noble brats who had wagered their pride against him.

"Tch..."

Clicking his tongue, Ethan adjusted the grimoires in his hands and began his journey back to the village.

He hadn't anticipated this turn of events at all.

Initially, he thought he might become a laughingstock like Asta.

But fate had other plans. His grimoires hadn't failed to appear—they had simply been delayed.

Receiving one was already thrilling enough, but then a second four-leaf clover emerged!

A single person owning two four-leaf clover grimoires... such an anomaly had never occurred in Black Clover's history.

Two four-leaf clovers.

Ethan could hardly contain his excitement for what lay ahead.

Suddenly, he sensed a magical fluctuation.

"Fire Magic: Blazing Inferno!"

A burst of fire magic surged toward Ethan, but he reacted instantly.

His heightened magical senses allowed him to detect even the slightest disturbance in the ambient mana before an attack formed.

"Wind Magic: Wind Pillar!"

With a wave of his hand, Ethan didn't even need to use a grimoire.

The ambient mana around him coalesced, forming a towering column of wind that blocked the incoming flames with ease.

"What? He nullified my fire magic without using a grimoire? How is that possible?"

"Heh... looks like you didn't run off after all..."

Ethan smirked as he stared down the two nobles.

He had initially assumed they'd fled to avoid the consequences of their lost bet, but here they were, lying in wait to ambush him.

"Well, it makes sense. One four-leaf clover is already rare, but two? I must've stolen all the attention today."

Ethan chuckled inwardly at the irony of his newfound fame.

"Let me guess... you're here so I can honor our bet?" he said mockingly.

Despite his playful tone, Ethan's senses were on high alert. If these two were bold enough to confront him, there might be others lurking in the shadows.

And sure enough, the leader of the ambush soon revealed himself.

Clang! Clang!

Silver chains shot out from the surrounding forest, entangling the two nobles and binding them tightly to a nearby tree.

The remaining chains shot toward Ethan, aiming to ensnare him as well.

But his agility rivaled that of a wild beast. Leaping and twisting through the air, he evaded the chains with ease.

Clap... Clap... Clap...

A man emerged from the shadows, his grimoire hovering beside him, surrounded by floating chains. His face bore a sinister smirk.

"Impressive," the man said, his voice dripping with malice. "No wonder you have two four-leaf clovers. Even if I can't use them, collectors in the black market will pay handsomely for such rare treasures."

Though Ethan had already guessed his intentions, hearing the words out loud made his expression darken.

In this world, grimoires were akin to a person's lifeline. To a mage, they were as vital as a knight's sword or a sniper's rifle.

Someone attempting to steal his grimoires might as well be trying to kill him.

"You're talking like you've already won. Care to test that theory?"

One of Ethan's grimoires began to float beside him, glowing with a vibrant green aura.

In his 15 years of life, Ethan had learned one universal truth: strength determines survival.

"Wind Creation Magic: Storm Domain!"

The four-leaf clover's pages flipped rapidly, unleashing a torrent of magical energy.

In an instant, massive tornadoes descended from the sky, creating a chaotic storm that turned the area into a desolate wasteland.

Dust and debris filled the air, and the scene resembled the end of the world itself.
