Chapter 32 - [32] I Have a Bold Idea

There were four commission quests, but they were a bit far. The Ley Line Blossoms, on the other hand, were much closer.

"Big Sis, I wanted to ask you something… Huh!? When did this statue appear here? It clearly wasn't here just a moment ago!"

Yuji Itadori was completely baffled.

Paimon said, "Well, we're heading out for a bit—we'll be back soon."

"Eh? But it's almost dark."

"It's fine, we won't be long. Bye-bye~"

And with that, Paimon leapt up and flew away effortlessly.

Zephyr's luck was pretty decent. All the Ley Line Blossoms had spawned just outside the Tokyo outskirts, not too far, so they were cleared quickly.

After activating the blossoms, instead of hilichurls, it was this world's native monsters that appeared—ugly, twisted cursed spirits.

Fortunately, they were pretty weak and got wiped out in a few hits by Lumine.

At first, Paimon was terrified, but later, she got bold enough to start mocking the cursed spirits.

As for the daily commissions, they were simple—usually someone accidentally got caught up with a curse, and the quest was to eliminate the spirits.

After finishing all the tasks, they had gained about half a level's worth of experience.

"Sigh… Why do the dailies and Ley Line Blossoms give so little EXP now?"

Back in the old days, he would've leveled up several times already. Now, after doing the whole routine, it was barely anything.

The blossoms were okay, since they always dropped experience. But the commissions were more variable—sometimes you got more Mora, and sometimes if the client was broke, you'd get more EXP instead.

Zephyr thought deeply: "If I can only gain half a level a day, then at this rate, it'll take ten days just to hit Level 20."

Way too slow. He could only hope the main quests would come with better rewards.

"Too bad this world doesn't have crystal ore for weapon upgrades. Otherwise, I'd be out mining tonight."

Now that the quests were done, and there was nothing else to do, he headed back to school.

Of course, on the way, he gathered a few more Jujutsu Cursed Eyes.

If it weren't for how ridiculously hard these cursed eyes were to find—and the fact that most maps didn't even show them—he probably could've completed the whole collection in a few days.

"Big Sis, you're finally back! I was so worried!"

Zephyr snapped, "Shoo shoo shoo—get away from me! Don't wipe your tears on my clothes!"

Fushiguro Megumi deadpanned, "Yuji, don't you think you're being a bit dramatic?"

Paimon chimed in, "Yeah, seriously. You're being such a drama queen."

"I am not a drama queen! I'm a real man!"

"What kind of 'real man' wipes his tears on a girl's clothes?"

"I—I was just worried and lost control, okay?!"

Yuji fumbled awkwardly, then tried to act casual as he asked, "Um, Big Sis… ahem… Didn't you say you were gonna teach me how to get stronger? So, uh… that thing…"

Fushiguro Megumi sneered, "So that's why you were so worried about her—you've been thinking about this the whole time, huh?"

Yuji Itadori's face turned bright red.

Fushiguro continued, "Lumine just got back and hasn't even eaten yet, and you're already asking her to teach you how to get stronger? Don't you feel any shame?"

"Ah—uh—that, that's my bad! Big Sis, have you eaten yet? I'll cook for you!"

Paimon blinked. "Paimon didn't expect you to know how to cook!"

"Hmph, of course I do! Whatever you want to eat, I can make it!"

Lumine shook her head and said, "Thanks, but I've already eaten."

"Oh, you've already eaten, then, uh, then, um…"

"Stop mumbling," she said. "I remember what I said, and I'll keep my promise. I'm going to teach you a skill next, but whether you can learn it or not is up to you."

"A skill? You mean the jujutsu you used to defeat that cursed spirit last time? That was so cool!"

Fushiguro stood by and added, "I've never seen a wind-type jujutsu before."

Lumine nodded. "That's right. What's something that doesn't exist in a solid form but is everywhere around us? The answer—wind. I'm going to teach you a wind-based skill."

"Watch closely."

A swirling current of air began to gather in Lumine's hands.

Fushiguro's pupils shrank. "That is…!?"

"Wind Vortex Blade!"

A burst of violent wind exploded from her palm. Even from several meters away, they could all feel the shocking destructive force in the air.

Yuji Itadori gasped, "S-So strong!"

The wall in front of them was instantly blown apart, shattered into pieces.

"There. You saw it. Now it's your turn."

Yuji was clearly thrilled, but even after a long pause, he still hadn't made a move.

"What's wrong?"

"Um… Big Sis… how do I actually start?"

Zephyr replied, "It's simple. First you do this, then that, and finally this—then it works."

As she spoke, she casually released a Wind Vortex Blade. A few seconds later, another. Then again, after another short wait, another one.

"…Wuwuwu, Big Sis, you can't just mess with me like this…"

Fushiguro stared in shock. "Wait… You don't need cursed energy to cast jujutsu?"

How was she casting the same technique multiple times like it was nothing?

Zephyr answered calmly, "Nope. Don't need it."

"..."

Fushiguro rubbed his forehead. "Okay, I get it. Your cursed energy reserves are just beyond insane."

"No, no, you're misunderstanding."

She wasn't overflowing with cursed energy—she simply didn't need any "mana" to cast skills at all.

As long as the cooldown was up, she could spam them indefinitely.

But this wasn't something easy to explain, so Zephyr didn't bother saying anything.

Fushiguro Megumi said, "There's a problem though. That jujutsu technique you just showed is really powerful—but Yuji Itadori doesn't even know how to control cursed energy yet. Teaching him something that advanced right off the bat… he won't be able to learn it."

Paimon chimed in, "So dumb. Yuji is so dumb."

"Wuwuwu…" Yuji whimpered.

Lumine comforted him, "Don't cry. I knew you wouldn't be able to learn it. I just cast the skill to show you what it looks like."

Hearing that, Yuji started crying even louder.

Paimon sweatdropped. "You're a devil, aren't you? By the way, are you a Traveler or a player?"

"You guess. And stop crying. If you keep crying, I'll beat you up."

"…"

Yuji looked pitifully aggrieved.

Zephyr sighed. After all, he had taken the Sukuna finger Yuji had swallowed, so there was a lingering sense of guilt.

Even though Sukuna was of no use to her/him—if anything, he was just being tortured constantly—it was hard to say if he might become important later. After all, the anime only had one season out when she crossed over.

What if, down the line, Sukuna suddenly had a change of heart and helped Yuji for some reason? But because he had taken the finger, something unexpected happened to him instead… wouldn't that be awful?

Maybe he should give him an artifact and see if he could equip it?

Theoretically, only those with a Vision could equip artifacts. But that was a rule of Teyvat. Now that they were in a whole new world, who knew if the rules had changed?

After thinking for a moment, he pulled out a feather and said, "Yuji Itadori, try this. See if you can equip it."
