One night, over cold ugali and leftover cabbage, Happy confessed something.
"I used to be Mercy's friend. We were close. She's the one who told me all those lies about you before we met."
Andra stirred her tea.
"Do you believe her?"
"I used to. Until I watched you cry over exam fees. Until I saw how you treat Kingsley like he's your everything."
Andra smiled. "People will always talk."
"Let them," Happy said. "Let them choke on their own stories."
