But as soon as she sat in the car, it was as if I was sitting in the car next to her too. I looked into her big blue eyes, which were slightly teary. My soul was now somehow connected to hers. That was the only logical conclusion for me. When she was in bed that evening, she started crying and rummaged in her bag. When I saw what she took out, my jaw dropped. It was my sketch book and at that moment I realized it. My soul was not linked to a place or another person, but to the most important object to me, which was my sketch book.
Since it was at the scene at school before, I was stuck there during the investigation and because she took it with her, it acted as a kind of magnet to her. She flipped through it and looked at the drawings before she started sobbing again. I wished I could comfort her and put my ghost hand on her shoulder when she suddenly winced and looked at her shoulder. I was confused and put my hand on her shoulder again. She winced again. "What was that?" she asked.
I don't know why, but I just uttered a single word: "Amanda?" I asked, and she looked around with her tear-stained face. "Raphael? Is that you?" I couldn't believe it. She had heard me. "Y-Yes, it's me," I stuttered. At that moment she saw me. At first she was frightened, but then she smiled. "It really is you! I can't believe it. So you are still here after all. Thank God," she said, wiping the tears from her face. 'Did you hear what I said about you at the ceremony?' she asked. I nodded and sat down next to her. "Do you know how long I hoped to hear such words from you?" I told her with a gentle smile. "And I've always had feelings for you, but I never had the impression that you felt the same way about me."
She looked down. "You gave your life to save ours. I wish I had worked up the courage to tell you sooner. Now it's too late." I smiled as we locked eyes. I couldn't help but move closer. So did she, and then we kissed. What shouldn't have been physically possible became a reality. I felt her kiss and I think she felt mine. When the kiss ended, I looked at her. She smiled. Then I looked at my hand and saw it slowly fading. And then my other hand. I smiled. "You did it, Amanda. You freed my soul. Thank you and..." I hesitated.
"I love you," I said before my ghostly body faded completely and was surrounded by a bright white light. She smiled at me through tears, 'I love you too. Please never forget that,' she said before the light enveloped me completely and I closed my eyes forever.
