"Engaged?" Zara scoffed, "I have no idea, why we're engaged," an annoyance lacing in her tone. She turned, her heels clicking against the floor as she headed towards the driveway.
Before she could take another step, Adam's hand clamped around her waist. The casual strength with which he lifted her, as if she weighed nothing, stole her breath. He opened the back door of his sleek black car and gently placed her on the plush leather seat.
"Let me out, Adam!" Zara's voice rose in panic as she struggled against his grip, her fists pounding against his unyielding hand.
He ignored her pleas, his expression a tight mask of anger and possessiveness. He reached for the seatbelt, his movements precise and forceful. Then, he moved to the driver's seat, his silence heavy with unspoken tension.
Zara couldn't speak, her eyes remained on the rearview mirror, her frustration clearly visible. He pressed a car scent her Favorite rose scent to lighten her mood. "Can we go?" Adam's voice cut through the silence, before starting the car.
"Don't pretend that everything is accomplished just by my words," Zara said, her voice laced with a mixture of pain and disappointment.
"Zara... Why are you always being childish?" Adam asked his eyes on the road and his hands gripped the steering wheel.
"I am not, I don't like being around fake love and fake person," she snapped, her gaze still fixed out the side window.
"What? Who is fake here?" he paused, his voice softening slightly. "At least can you just me what your problem is?" he pleaded, his voice low.
Can I ask about that kiss? Maybe he has a valuable reason. A thought sparked within her. Wait, what valuable reason could there be for kissing another girl? How naive are you, Zara? You're still trying to believe he's innocent. She wrestled with her inner turmoil, a knot of confusion and hurt tightening in her chest.
The silence stretched between them. Adam's eyes were on the road but his mind raced with confusion, being silent can't solve our problem. Why did she hate me so much, why she can't understand how much I love her? I don't know Zara... Please open up he thought.
"If you want to go to parties with friends, next time inform me," he said breaking the silence.
Before he could finish the sentence. Zara exploded. "What? Are you just trying to control me?" she roared, her eyes narrowed in anger.
"Zara... Can you just let me finish the sentence first? He sighed. "You can go wherever you want. Sneaking out sometimes puts you in danger. Uncle will allow me to take you; you don't need to sneak."
Zara rolled her eyes, turning her head to stare silently out the window. I sneak because I don't want to come with you, she thought bitterly.
As the Zara mansion came into view. Adam slowed the car, stopped his car a few meters away from the gate, he glanced around, "Can I drop inside the mansion" he asked.
His words broken the silence, "No... Dad doesn't know about this, I want to keep it that way" she said, her voice still cold and distant.
"Okay... I walk until you reach the gate" Adam said as he reached for the door handle.
"Uh! You are making me sick. I can go alone, just a few steps...." she snapped, pushing open her door and sliding out of the car. Without a backward glance, she slammed the door shut and strode towards the gate.
"Fu*k.... I am tired of this shit" Adam shouted, slamming his fist against the car's dashboard. He sighed; his eyes fixed on her until she reached the gate.
Zara opened the gate and walked inside causally, opening her room door. She stood before the large mirror, her reflection staring back at her with a mixture of confusion and longing. Her mind raced to a black hoodie person kiss and the way he wrapped her body. "was that a real person or did I imagine him? Why do I feel safe around him," she whispered to herself, her arms wrapping around herself in a protective embrace.
Meanwhile, in a modest apartment across town, the hoodie person entered an apartment, silently placing his shoes on a slipper stand. "Min-Ju, Oppa. "Min-Jee, her sister called out. As she turned on the light, her eyes narrowed with concern. "Where you have been?" she asked.
"I just went for a walk," he said, his voice low as a smooth lie.
Min-Jee smirked, folding her arms across her chest, and raising her brows. "Did you stalk her again, today" she questioned as her voice increased. "Oppa, you can't leave her alone, she already dating another person. Even she can't identify you even if you stand in front of her."
"Min-Jee, but that's not her fault. I promised her and I want to keep my promise until my last breath. That's what gentleman do" he said, his voice confident as he moved towards his room.
"Promise, mya*s" she whispered," You probably sick of her" returned to her room, and shut the door sharply.
Min-Ju walked towards his room, opened the door , removed his hoodie, placed it on a hanger. He fell into the bed spread his hands on the bed, and let out a deep relieved breath, watching the photo frame of Zara and his kissed picture. A soft happy smile replaced his lips, "She going to be my assistant." he murmured, his eyelids fluttering closed, and turn off the light by clapping his hand.
On a bright morning, the sunlight flashed in Zara's bedroom, she fluttered her eyes slowly at the warm sunlight, her hands moved near the table, and grabbed her phone. She squinted at the screen, her eyes widening in disbelief as she sat up abruptly. She tapped open the email.
Congratulations, you have been selected as a DNA analyst intern at ABC company.
The message displayed, she shouted happily and jumped out from the bed.
"Mom...." Zara cried excitedly, bursting out into the hallway. "Mom! I got an internship!" She threw her arms around Selena, showering her with kisses. Just then, Dante entered the hallway, he stood silently and watched them. "Dad, I got an internship...."
Before she finished the word, the main wooden door opened.
"Hi, Uncle, Hi Aunty, " Adam said, his voice confident as entered the hallway, casually holding a bouquet of red roses, everything made him perfect.
Why did he appear suddenly? What if he tells them about last night? Zara's mind raced in fear but her eyes fixed on him.
Adam walked towards her with a calm smile on his face and gently pulled her into a hug. "This is for you, Zara..."he murmured, his voice deep and pressing a soft kiss to her forehead.
"Long time no see Adam," Selena said, her tone calm and observing.
"Busy with work, Mrs. Winters," Adam replied smoothly, his eyes then turned to Dante. "I was hoping to take Zara out today. Would you allow it, Mr. Winter?"
