Chapter 20 - chapter 20: return

no one dared to speak up. those who had once dared to speak out were now all dead.

they had become the soldiers' achievements.

or rather, 'traitors.'

"what are you dragging your feet for? if it were up to me, i'd say just take this filthy woman right here in the street," another big soldier said, getting impatient and stepping forward.

"good idea! let's do it right here in the street."

The two guys, who were already drunk, showed obscene expressions on their faces at the same time, and one of them even untied his belt. The other took two steps forward, held the little girl down, and began to tear her clothes.

The bricks mixed with internal energy were like a locomotive, directly knocking off half of the guy's head, his brain bursting, and blood splattering everywhere.

The remaining corpse flew backwards and hit the wall behind.

After kicking twice, it died.

secretly, chen luo couldn't hold back anymore. to him, every extra second such a beast lived was a desecration of the world. after confirming there were no other enemies on the street, he picked up a brick from beside the broken wall and slammed it into the man's face.

he didn't even use his martial skills.

such a guy using martial arts to kill would be an insult, the brick was just right.

"who!!"

the soldier who was unbuckling his belt was startled, his drunkenness fading away. instinctively, he grabbed the weapon beside him and turned around. but before he could fully turn, the bloodied brick slammed into him again. the light dimmed, then he felt a buzzing in his head, and after that, everything went black.

The second body rolled out and hit the back wall, splashing a bunch of red and white. It was deader than dead.

with chen luo's current strength, killing these two big-headed soldiers was like crushing ants, there was no chance of missing.

"close the door, we'll leave the city at dawn. there's a gap in the west of the city, you should know where it is."

chen luo glanced at the girl who was already frozen in fear, leaving a word before turning to leave. in the nearby room, some villagers who had been peeking at the situation quickly shrank back when they felt his gaze, each of them trembling in fear as they hid inside.

chen luo didn't bother with these people, he couldn't care less.

soon, he arrived at the alleyway.

this was where his third uncle's house was. in the past, at this time, old lü would have already opened his stall, but now, the place was all burned down. old lü's noodle cart had been dismantled, and several unclaimed corpses had fallen into the noodle cart frame, emitting a strong stench.

walking into the alley, chen luo didn't take many steps before he saw a familiar face.

an elderly man with a hunched back was burning paper, and a person lay on a grass mat in front of him.

these two were the old lü couple, who used to run a stall at the alleyway entrance. the one burning the paper was old lü, his leg was crippled, with a simple bandage around it. the wound had already scabbed over, turning dark in color.

lying on the mat was old lü's wife, aunt wang, who used to sell breakfast at the alleyway entrance. every time chen luo went to buy soy milk and buns, aunt wang would always give him one, saying he looked just like her son.

"chun, i'm useless, i'm pathetic, i have no ability. you've suffered with me all your life, never having a single good day."

old lü didn't notice anyone had come up behind him, still talking to the body in front of him.

the old man's spirit seemed to have been drained, and he aged significantly in an instant.

if it weren't for the woman still needing to be cared for, he most likely would have gone with his wife.
