Chapter 12 - Tought test #1

The man looked like an experienced archer. His extensive experience was evident in the way he handled his bow.

We didn't wait any longer and approached him with great curiosity.

"Hey there, are you a hunter? Your work is impressive," I said with admiration.

"Right on target! How did you do that, sir?" Charlotte asked with unbridled curiosity.

"That's right, the shot was precise," Isabella added with a calm voice.

However, the man didn't seem too enthusiastic about our arrival.

"Huh, are you lost? Why are you here?" he replied with a scowl.

"No, sir. We just happened to see you from afar on our journey," Charlotte explained politely.

"Yes, and what's your name, sir?" I asked with great curiosity.

"My name is Robin. Now, how are you going to get back?" Robin started to shoulder his prey, showing his strength and agility.

"That's not important, Mr. Robin. May we ask a favor?" I asked while following Robin from behind.

"May we?" Charlotte added with a sweet voice.

"What is it?" Robin stopped and turned to us with a sharp gaze.

"Uh, can you teach us, sir?" Charlotte quickly cut in with an enthusiastic voice.

"No, I don't have time for that. Scram," Robin rejected us bluntly and continued walking towards his tent.

We followed Robin again, trying to persuade him.

"B-but we really want to become skilled in using weapons, sir," we said with high hopes.

"Troublesome, I don't have time to take care of you," Robin rejected us again and started to put down his prey next to the bonfire.

Isabella flew in front of us, trying to intervene.

"What about our situation when we're at the tip of the spear, we're still young. Will you still not care about children?" Isabella replied firmly, changing the atmosphere to a tense one.

Robin fell silent, frozen in his step.

"Hmph. Fine, follow me, and I'll assess you first," he finally said with a different tone.

"Really?!" Charlotte was overjoyed.

"Yessss!!" I couldn't hide my excitement either.

"Thank you, Isabella," we said in unison, appreciating Isabella's role in changing Robin's decision.

Some time later, Charlotte and I were given a task to hunt down any visible wild animals.

After waiting for a while, a deer appeared in front of us, stopping. This was our first opportunity.

"Isn't it time?" I whispered beside Charlotte with sparkling eyes.

"Let's catch that deer," Charlotte whispered back with a sweet smile.

"This will be a wonderful night," I whispered with an even wider smile.

"Alright, feel this attack!" Charlotte pulled back her slingshot and released it.

_Splashhh-!_ Our first attack was launched. No, our first attack missed.

"Ahh, shoot! How is this?" Charlotte started to complain with a disappointed face.

"No, the prey got away," I complained too, grasping at the air with empty hands.

We both turned to Robin, who was busy roasting his prey over a blazing fire.

Meanwhile, Isabella was flying beside him, looking at us and pointing to a spot with her swift finger.

"Friends, look over there, isn't that a huge boar?" Isabella pointed and encouraged us with a cheerful voice.

"ALRIGHT," we responded in unison, regaining our spirits with bright faces.

"The prey is close to us, this time we won't fail," Charlotte whispered with sharp eyes.

"Get ready, Charlotte. This time it's going to hit, you take it down, and I'll finish it off," I added with a confident smile.

"Alright." Charlotte pulled back her slingshot again and released it.

_Splashhh-!_ NO, it was seen. The attack missed again, but the prey didn't choose to flee; instead, it stood still and prepared to chase us with red eyes.

"The boar is approaching us. RUN!" I shouted, starting to run with fast feet.

"NOOOO-" Charlotte shouted, then fell silent.

I grabbed Charlotte, lifted her up, and ran as fast as I could with labored breathing.

"AAAAAAAAAA." We shouted in fear with loud voices.

It turned out that our prey was a wild boar. No wonder it chased us like that.

"Damn, they're so careless," Robin stood up and grabbed his bow again with swift movements.

Isabella shouted from afar, "Friends, hold on for a moment."

"THE BOAR IS VERY CLOSE TO US. RUN AS FAST AS YOU CAN." Charlotte peeked behind and shouted again towards me with a frightened face.

Robin, who had aimed his bow precisely at the boar, released it- _SPLASHHH._ _BRAKK-_ The sound of the boar being hit by the boar let out a loud cry and fell to the ground.

"Look, the boar has stopped," Charlotte said, turning around with a relieved face.

"Is that true?" I asked, stopping to catch my breath.

"Phew, that was close," I said, still panting.

After the boar fell, Robin approached us with a scowl on his face.

"You two are useless. You didn't even catch it," Robin said, picking up the boar and carrying it away with great strength.

"No way, this can't be," Charlotte complained, looking disappointed.

Isabella, who was standing beside us, shouted at Robin.

"You're so cruel, they tried their best, and you just rejected them like that," Isabella said, her voice rising in anger.

Robin stopped in his tracks and glared at us.

"Fine, I'll wait for your prey before nightfall," Robin said, turning away from us with a long stride.

"REALLY? ALRIGHTT," I said, excitement evident in my voice.

Some time later, we were waiting for another opportunity to hunt.

This time, we spotted two rabbits not far from us.

"The prey is close, Charlotte. This time we won't fail," Isabella said, encouraging us with a cheerful voice.

"Maybe it's true," Charlotte said, taking a deep breath and releasing her slingshot.

...SPLASHHH- "YESSSSSS!" I shouted in surprise.

The rabbit was hit, and it fell to the ground, motionless.

The other rabbit, however, managed to escape quickly.

"WE DID IT!" Charlotte shouted, jumping up and down with excitement.

Isabella pointed out that the other rabbit had escaped.

"Guys, one of them got away. And it's bigger," Isabella said, looking at us with sharp eyes.

I took off after the escaped rabbit without hesitation.

"I'll get it," I said, running as fast as I could.

"Don't," Isabella shouted, her voice filled with concern.

"The queen told me to remind you not to use your powers recklessly," Isabella added, her voice rising in urgency.

But I didn't listen and continued chasing after the rabbit.

With a burst of speed, I caught up to the rabbit and...

BANGGGGG- My attack landed precisely on target, causing the ground to crack and shatter.

"I got it, we got it," I said, holding up both rabbits and showing them to Robin with a proud face.

Robin was taken aback by my display of power and approached us with a surprised expression.

"I'm impressed by your strength," Robin said, his voice flat.

"However, these rabbits can't be used for dinner. Find something else," Robin added, turning away from us.

"NOOOOOO."
