Chapter 10 - A Battle Crazed Family

As Vesper ran, he cursed in his mind. He had no idea what kind of family this was. Everyone has a unique trait. In just one day, he had met two people who were battle-crazed, meeting the second Queen for the first time and this is how she reacted. What would happen when he met the real crazy one?

"Where do you think you are running to?"

Vesper heard her voice as he saw the Queen in front of him and her fingers were stabbing towards him. Left with no choice, he covered his hand with his intent and the two of them clashed.

Vesper flew back, smashing his back against the pillar. Just when he thought he could catch his breath, he heard her voice again.

"You should think fast, knowing an intent is not the end, manipulating that intent without the weapon properly is the true manipulation of the intent." Chloe said as she appeared in front of him, kicking him.

Her legs had a white film coating them and Vesper knew that if he met that kick, head on he would suffer. So he channelled his intent and mana to shield his arms as he blocked the kick.

Chloe, Catherine and Lisa were shocked when they saw that Vesper channelled mana. The only question in their minds was HOW?

Vesper flew and rolled across the ground, he was angry, and thoroughly pissed off, just because he was weaker. That was why this woman tossed him about like garbage.

Chloe paused thinking of how Vesper did it when her senses, screamed danger as she dodged left, only to see Vesper holding a stick. His eyes glowed with a purple light as he lunged at her again, smashing the stick towards Chloe.

Catherine was shocked. Vesper was making her mum retreat? But he was just a novice ranker. How was that possible?

Lisa saw Catherine's expression and said, "Her majesty is using her limiter bracelet. She did not want to accidentally injure Vesper, so she limited herself to the apprentice rank.

Catherine heard her and then relaxed, but what she still did not understand was how Vesper channelled mana.

Chloe, who saw Vesper attack her without rest, decided to end the farce. She stretched her hand and Lisa threw her sword that was still sheathed in its scabbard.

As she held it, her aura became even more piercing. Then she lunged forward and clashed with Vesper.

Her steps were slow and graceful, but at the same time she dodged every single swing of the stick in Vespers' arm, then she moved and appeared behind Vesper, using her hand to chop the back of his neck, making Vesper fall to the ground unconscious.

"Lisa, take him to his room. I do not want a word of what happened here to get out, do you understand." Chloe said with a stern voice.

"Yes, master."

"Yes, mother."

Both of the ladies replied quickly, while all of them stared at Vesper with a strange expression.

"Daughter, I heard from a little bird about all your tales today. Did that little brat Drake disturb you, I can talk to the Duke if that brat is too bothersome for you." Chloe said.

Lisa's lip twitched when she heard Chloe say, she heard from a little bird. She could have just called her a hummingbird so that she could chirp all day.

Catherine laughed after seeing Lisa's expression. Then she told her mother not to worry about her that it was alright.

Chloe sighed and waved her hand as an object fell from the sky and landed into her hand, "Alright Lisa, take him back to his room."

With that, Chloe drew Catherine and walked away, while Lisa seemingly vanished along with Vesper.

Mist gathered as a young man with light purple hair appeared out of it with a fox in his arms, "Did you see that Lyra, the bastard seems to have some mana now, now this would be fun." He said as he stroked the fur of the fox, and its eyes glowed with a dreamy light as they both vanished.

A few hours later Vesper woke up to see himself in his room. He groaned as he felt a slight ache in his head, and then he remembered what happened before he was knocked out.

Vesper felt pissed, but not as intense as before. Then he heard a knock on his door.

Opening it, he saw Catherine standing in front of his door with Aurora. Catherine handed him two small boxes and said, "How are you feeling, Vesper?"

Taking the items from her hand, he sighed and said, "Just a little tired. I will be fine by tomorrow. Thank you for keeping these for me, Catherine."

"No problem, I will see you tomorrow then." She said as she left.

All this while, Aurora stared at both of them with a puzzled expression. As Catherine left, she walked into her brother's room and shut the door.

"Brother, since when did you and Catherine become close?" She asked, staring at her brother suspiciously.

"We are not close, but she expressed her wish to become friends with me, so yes, there is no harm in that." He replied.

Aurora just gave him the 'I see' kind of gaze and smiled mischievously.

"What is going on in your head you brat, what is that smirk on your face for?" Vesper said as he chuckled at her antics.

Vesper sat on his bed as he opened the smaller box bringing out a storage ring, and then he channelled mana into it, and he saw a five meter space and inside it were fifty parchments and an enchanted scriber.

On the other hand, Aurora was stunned when she felt the mana flow coming from Vesper.

"Brother, you can access mana now?!" Aurora asked in shock.

"Yes Aurora, and that is why I wanted you to come, so I could show you, so you don't worry about me any more. I will become strong enough to protect you soon." Vesper said softly.

Aurora jumped and hugged Vesper as she cried for joy. To her, Vesper was all that was left of the world for her. Benjamin, who is her younger brother, was brought up by the Empress herself, so he did not care too much about Aurora and focused on making the Empress proud.

"Have you known your affinity yet, I can help you check tomorrow. I can sneak in a testing stone. Do not worry big brother, I will buy it for you if I can not sneak one." Aurora said a lot of sentences without rest.

Vesper smiled seeing her act like this, all those years he lived in that short moment, he experienced the way he was cared for by Amara and how much she loved Aurora, how Aurora clung to him while she was younger, how she cried when their mother died after birthing Benjamin. In his heart, Aurora was the world and the most important person to him in this life and he promised to protect her.

"You do not need to worry too much, Aurora. I have checked it and I have an affinity for space magic. You should know I will soon be powerful, even more powerful than you, so do not worry, if anyone bullies you, just write their name down, once I am strong I will visit your transgressions." Vesper said with a smile.

Aurora clicked her tongue and then smiled sweetly while wiping her eyes. Then they heard a knock on the door.
